Day 1
Arrival & Vágar Island
Welcome to Faroe Islands! It is time for you to start discovering all the breathtaking locations in the Faroe Islands. When you have picked up your car, is it time for you to start exploring the untouched nature.
There are so many epic and iconic spots on Vágar island where your journey starts. You will have great finds on every corner.
Your first location to experience is Gásadalur. In this village you will see Múlafossur Waterfall. This is the most iconic spot in the Faroe Islands. Múlafossur Waterfall deserves all the attention that it is getting.
You will see the sea smashing into the shore. And you will see the waterfall emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.
When you leave Gásadalur, stop by the nearby village Bøur. Here you will have the chance to walk between old grass-roofed houses before getting to a small beach. You will also have a nice view of Tindhólmur islet and the sea-stacks Drangarnir.
If you arrive not too late in the Faroe Islands, you will have time to hike to Trælanípan also known as the lake above the ocean. Here you will get the classic view of the Faroe Islands. You got the lake, you got the ocean and the sheer cliff.
You will also hike to the big famous waterfall Bøsdalafossur. The lake Leitisvatn empties into this waterfall surrounded by massive cliffs.
Now, head to Tórshavn where you will stay for the night. You will get back to Vágar island tomorrow when Mykines island is on the schedule.
Day 2
Puffin island Mykines
After waking up in Tórshavn, it is time for you to hit the road. Your goal of the day is the unspoiled island Mykines.
Mykines is the island where you will see all the adorable puffins. You will take the ferry from the harbour in the village Sørvágur. When you reach Mykines harbour 45 minutes later, a magic experience on this car-free island awaits you. You will hike the path to all the puffins independently.
You will leave the island again in the afternoon. Head to Tórshavn and spend the evening reflecting on the magic you just experienced on Mykines Island.
Day 3
Northern Islands
Start the day by driving north to some of the highlights in the Faroe Islands. When you reach Klaksvík on Borðoy island, you will head to the harbour from where you will take a ferry to the island Kalsoy.
When you reach Kalsoy after a 20 minutes boat ride, you will drive along the coastline and pass some cute villages along the way. You will be exited by all the stunning locations on Kalsoy. Head to the northernmost village Trøllanes.
In Trøllanaes you will go on an adventurous hike to the Kallur Lighthouse. It will come out awesome. Kallur Lighthouse is an unreal location. Nice and moody. You will have a fantastic view of the neightbouring islands and the sheer cliff wall Borgarin just beside this lonely lighthouse.
After this exciting hike, you will drive back to the ferry, which will sail you to Klaksvík. Now, head further north to the village Viðareiði where you will see some gorgeous mountains. The experience in Viðareiði is just so good.
After your stop in Viðareiði, you can drive to the uninhabited village Múli. The road to this place is a bit bumpy, but you will be just good.
When you have experienced Múli, drive back to Tórshavn. You might want to take some photo stops on the way so expect the travel time to be one and a half hours.
Day 4
Departure & Village Highlights
It is your last day in the Faroe Islands. Today, you will drive to three beautiful villages. You will visit Saksun, Tjørnuvík on Streymoy island and Gjógv on Eysturoy island.
Cruise around these untouched islands and experience some of the most well-known settlements in the Faroe Islands. Saksun is the remote village where you will see the tidal lagoon and the lonely white church on the green plain. When the tide is far low, you can walk along the sand to the beach i Saksun.
Tjørnuvík is the village where you will experience an isolated settlement. You will also have an epic view of Risin & Kellingin sea-stacks from this village.
The village Gjógv has an impressive gorge that spans over 200 metre. Make sure to walk into the gorge.
It is time to say farewell to the Faroe Islands. Head to the airport on Vágar island. Your Faroe Islands adventure has come to an end. We hope to see you again!

Cheryl L Garin –
We enjoyed our trip to Faroes Island! Thank you so much for putting it together for us.
Everything went seamlessly. Even the weather cooperated. The only glitch we ran into was an unexpected hiking fee and required guide to see the puffin colony on the Mykines (the colony, to protect it, is now part of the hike to the lighthouse). Fortunately, I’d brought a credit card and the local guides were prepared to accept payment. The hike and puffins were stunning!
I’m speechless regarding the Faroe Islands. The scale and geology of the landscapes, the spectacular villages, the roads and tunnels, the birds, the sheep, the weather. All larger than life. I already want to come back to spend more time. Two full days was not enough 🙂. Thanks again.
