Discover the best food in the Faroe Islands with a local farmer as your guide. Nestled on the breathtaking Borðoy Island, a local farmer invites you on a traditional food tour to share the culinary legacy of a family farm dating centuries back. Taste the simplicity and richness of delicacies passed down through generations, each bite echoing the stories of resilient farmers who have weathered the storms of time.
With a unique combination of local flavours and hospitality, this experience is truly special. Your guide and farmer will make sure that this will be a highlight of your vacation.
During this food tour, you’ll visit one of the ancient families in the Northern islands and try some of the classic delicacies passed on through generations. Honouring their predecessors, they continue a legacy passed through generations of farmers, who have experienced more than most. Once they were probably the wealthiest family and largest employer in the northern part of the archipelago. Twice the family was almost exterminated by avalanches, often referred to as some of the deadliest natural disasters in the history of the Faroe Islands.
The farmer will greet you in his humble sheep shed. Here you will be served traditional, Faroese appetizers from their farm, hear some stories about their family-oriented farming life and rich ancestral history, while first hand experiencing the life of a farmer in present day Faroe Islands.
You will now do a historic walk to their family home in Klaksvík passing pastures, where their ancestors used to live once upon a time. Now these fields are preserved and only used for hay-making.
Arriving at the house, you'll be offered to a traditional soup, a symbol of Faroese hospitality. It's not just a meal; it's a communion with the past and present, a feast that transcends time.

Super hyggeligt besøg. Vi nød historierne og det at få indblik i det lokale liv både nu og i gamle dage. Det er interessant at smage det traditionelle mad, men historierne og snakken var det bedste.

It was fun learning about the ways of storing and preparing sheeps meat. In addition to tasting and also visiting and seeing the farm. Very friendly guide and farmer. Would definetly recommend!

If you’re a conscious traveller eager to understand the Faroe Islands and learn more about their people – this will be your peak exploring experience.
If you’re just someone who wants to hug a tiny lamb and run alongside the sheep – this will be the best day of your life.
If you’re simply looking to discover new tastes and enjoy a delicious dinner in great company- you’ve come to the right place!
David was a top-tier guide, we learned a lot from him. He spoke perfect English and was even able to guide the tour for Swedish-speaking people as well. Wow!
Everything was perfectly organized, and the dinner was super tasty (even for someone who’s not a fan of lamb!). We were already full after the first round, and yet there was still more food on offer, no one left hungry!
The farmer and his wife are wonderful and super friendly people. They spoke English too, answered our questions, and shared stories about their everyday life on the Faroe Islands.
10/10 money well spent!

We had a wonderful time on our visit to the farm and then to the farmers house to sample some home cooked traditional food.
The samples of traditional lamb recipes were tasty and the explanation as to their preparation was interesting as was the information on the lifestyle and hardships of sheep farming on the archipelago. It was good to meet the first time mother sheep, the cheeky ram and the cute lambs.
The meal after was a wonderful addition and we appreciated the feeling of true Faroese hospitality and the chance to chat about a variety of subjects including the local rowing teams!
Highly recommended as a great addition to a visit to these beautiful islands.
With many thanks.

We absolutely loved our time with sheep farmers Jogvan and Borghild ( we are hoping we have the spelling right…) and David (family friend and our guide). Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it was very interesting to hear about the life of a sheep farmer. There was also plenty of opportunity to ask about other aspects of life on the Faroes.
We had a tasting board of 5 items up at the sheep shed, of traditional products that are made by the family. Later we had very generous serve of delicious vegetable / lamb meatballs in a lamb broth up at their home.
For us it was a great opportunity at a very reasonable booking cost. Communication with David prior to the experience was very timely and clear. Highly recommended…

My wife and I had a wonderful evening with Jógvan, his wife Borghild, and Dávid, a family friend who was our guide for the evening. I highly recommend this food tour, especially if you want to learn more about the Faroes and its people. We met Dávid who walked with us to Jógvan’s farm, and we sampled the charcuterie that Jógvan made from his flock, it was a special treat to try the artisanal, traditional food that you will never get anywhere else in the world. David explained what each type of cured meat was, how it was made, the traditional curing methods etc. Very cool (and delicious!). We then met Jógva’s sheep and fed them, and walked down the hill to Jógvan and Borghild’s home, where Borghild made us delicious pot of dumpling and meatball soup that we all shared together, family style. Jógvan and Borghild were so gracious and welcoming, told us about their lives in Klaksvik, and David told us so much about the history and culture of this special place. A very special evening, and the perfect way to start our week in the Faroes!

As someone who raises and loves Icelandic sheep, I was really looking forward to this tour. We had a wonderful time w David seeing and feeding the local sheep, trying some of the sheep products, and seeing where they are processed.
The evening got better as we went to the family house and shared a meal and conversation. The family was so kind, welcoming, and generous with their time, knowledge, and recommendations. They showed us some of the artwork in their home and we shared a wonderful meal together.
Thank you so much for the memorable evening!

What a wonderful local experience that makes travel special! The guide, David, and the farmer and his wife were all lovely people who shared their lives with us and answered any questions about themselves and the Faroes. Started out by visiting the sheep farm up on the fill outside Klaksvik and even feeding the sheep. Interesting to learn about sheep farming since the Faroes have so many sheep! Then, we drove to the farmer’s house in town and sat at their table eating delicious homemade soup and fresh bread prepared by the farmer’s wife. So enjoyable just to sit in their kitchen talking with them.

David was awesome and the tour was far better than anything we were expecting – from the level of interaction with the family at their house to the level of detail and amazing lamb produce at the farmhouse.
Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

It was an absolute ‘must’ for us to visit a sheep farm and taste the traditional fermented sheep ham. David told us interesting and interesting facts about the farm and so we got an insight into the life of the Faroese. The highlight was the warm welcome at the farm couple’s home. Thank you for the delicious soup and bread. We enjoyed the time very much

The Food Tour with a Farmer was very interesting. The most exciting part of the tour was sharing a meal (the soup was delicious) in their home. We felt as though we learned so much cultural information and were so warmly received by our host.
Bjørnar Byberg –
The farm tour was interesting as we got a good feel of the daily life of Faroese people and the people guiding us were very warm and welcoming. The description as a farm tour could have been better as it was more of a farm visit with a home dinner, but that’s a detail.
