Visiting the Faroe Islands was nothing short of breathtaking—and this trip turned out to be one of my most memorable travel experiences. The islands themselves are breathtaking, with landscapes that feel like they belong in a dream. But what truly made this adventure more memorable was our guide, Sveinur.
From the moment we met him, Sveinur brought the Faroes to life. His deep-rooted connection to the islands, combined with his warm, engaging personality, made every moment feel personal and meaningful. He didn’t just guide us, he shared stories, adapted plans with ease to match the ever-changing weather, and made sure we experienced the islands in their full glory. Thanks to him, I felt more connected to the Faroes in five days than I likely ever could in years.
The hikes were stunning. Some steep and challenging, yes, but always rewarding. With views that stopped us in our tracks, there was never a need to rush. This should be considered based on your hiking comfort level. But the guides are very patient and go at your pace. Afterall there is no need to rush!
The accommodation at the Hilton added to the experience: great breakfast, a relaxed vibe, and just a short walk to the city centre. It was the perfect base for our daily adventures.
I left the Faroes feeling like I’d explored them with an old friend. I’ll absolutely be back. If you’re considering this trip, don’t hesitate. It’s a soul-stirring journey that stays with you long after you’ve returned home.

I had such an amazing time in the Faroe Islands.. I think the highlights were getting to know Gunnvá and Bárður! It was so fascinating to hear their perspectives on growing up and living in the Faroe Islands. The hikes were all excellent even with the rain and fog. It was also great to be in such a small group, and on the last day to have a private tour guide! I don’t have anything critical to say about anything, I had the best time. The hotel was also great, on the last day I ended up submerging my leg in mud and the hotel had free laundry and a way for me to clean my hiking shoes.

Incredible time exploring the Faroe Islands on foot. The hikes were stunning and my guide Elisabeth spent a lot of time studying the forecast so we could get views every day. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and a highlight of the trip. She stopped in some of the small villages too so I could witness some culture in addition to hiking. The accomodations at the Hilton were nice too with a big breakfast. I brought my trekking poles and didn’t end up using them but I was happy to have them since the trails are steep and can be muddy. I was a solo traveler and I feel grateful I could have this experience, this trip I will remember for a lifetime!

Amazing hikes and incredible views of the stunning landscape. Irdi and Gurið were so lovely and very knowledgeable. I had the best time hiking and hearing about life in the Faroe Islands. Irdi also arranged the hikes to best suit the weather with expert skill, which made such a difference. The trip exceeded all my expectations.
