Join this small-group tour to the picturesque Northern Islands, renowned for their towering mountains and verdant valleys. Prepare for an ever-changing panorama as you traverse roads winding around, beneath, and amidst majestic peaks in all direction.

This tour includes stops at the Faroe Islands' most well-known fishing town, deserted villages, and a leisurely stroll through the northernmost settlement. Everything starts in the morning with pickup in the capital, Tórshavn in Streymoy Island.

Your adventure leads you through the unique Eysturoy Tunnel adorned with local artwork. The sub-sea tunnel features the world's first underwater roundabout! A brief pause in Leirvík offers insights into Viking lore, avalanches, and abandoned settlements before the voyage continues through the Northern Isles.

In Klaksvík, the fishing industry's vitality is palpable, with trawlers bobbing in the harbour amidst rumbling mountains. The town, nestled around a bay and climbing steep mountainsides, also boasts a vibrant cultural scene and a renowned brewery.

Crossing a causeway and narrow tunnel brings you to Kunoy Island, where colourful houses line babbling streams amidst towering mountains. This village's rich history and stunning vistas make for a captivating visit.

Exploring Múli reveals abandoned buildings used in the first and only local crime series, amid breathtaking natural scenery. This place is something else.

Viðareiði offers panoramic views of neighbouring islands and towering cliffs. This historic village on Viðoy Island, birthplace of Faroese literary figure Christian Matras, holds a rich maritime legacy, symbolised by a church silver gift from the British government in gratitude for a heroic rescue.

Immerse yourself in the beauty and heritage of the Faroe Islands' northern treasures on this unforgettable small-group tour. Your local tour guide will make sure this day will be a highlight of your time in the Faroe Islands.

Helle was guide for dramatic Northern islands tour. Truly stunning scenery, history going back to the vikings and even earlier Celtic habitation, plus stories from more recent past and present day culture. Helle provided a wealth of information and included handouts so we could review and remember. We had a very nice packed lunch and later coffee and chocolate whilst sitting in sunshine in a lovely setting near beach.

With our guide Helle, we explored the stunning Northern Islands: Borðoy, Kunoy, and Viðoy. Thanks to the fantastic weather, we got to see a town hall that doubles as a bridge, literally connecting two villages — such a unique sight! On our way north, we stopped in Leirvík to visit Toftanes, the ruins of an ancient Viking longhouse. We were treated to breathtaking views in Viðareiði and even ventured to the abandoned village of Múlin, a peaceful and quiet spot I found particularly moving.
Helle enriched our experience by sharing handouts with additional information which I truly appreciated, as it’s hard to retain everything during such an exciting tour. She thoughtfully stopped at several scenic locations for photos and even pulled over when we spotted some oystercatchers by the roadside. This tour is highly recommended! Thank you, Helle!
