Epic 8 Day Summer Self Drive Tour of Faroe Islands

Welcome to the Faroe Islands

Pick up your car at the airport on Vágar island. You will be in the middle of awe-inspiring nature from the very start of your arrival. Before driving through the peaceful landscape to your accommodation in Tórshavn, you can head right to the famous Múlafossur waterfall.

The waterfall that empties into the ocean is only a 15 minutes drive from the airport. Here you will stand in front of one of nature's great wonders.

Head to your accommodation in Tórshavn. Enjoy the evening in the tranquil capital.

The puffin island Mykines

On your first full day in the Faroe islands, you will explore the island that will give you a true sense of natural peace. Mykines is an out-of-this-world experience.

There are 10 people living on the lush green island. They are outnumbered by thousands and thousands of puffins. You will get really close to the puffins once you are on Mykines Island. Walking on the island next to the puffins is epic and safe. Enjoy the small village before returning to the main islands.

The Northern Islands

On day three, you will head north to the renowned Northern islands. The mountains here are simply stunning.

Make sure to visit the village Viðareiði. This is the most northerly settlement in the Faroe islands and it comes with amazing views.

You will also get stunning vistas from the vantage point Klakkur. In order to get to this attraction, you will do an easy hike for 30 minutes above the town Klaksvík.

The Vestmanna Sea Cliffs & Spa House

Today, you will sail into grottos, through narrow sounds, and get close to the high vertical cliffs in Vestmanna. Head to the village and jump onboard the boat booked for you with departure in the morning.

You will be at sea for 1.5 hours. Make sure to bring your camera for this experience!

Later in the day, you will relax in a world class Spa House in the capital. Bring nothing but the desire to indulge in the indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and more!

Streymoy Island

On your fifth day, you will experience two awe-inspiring villages on the main island Streymoy.  Spend as much time at each attraction as you prefer.

Saksun is home to a tidal lagoon and unforgettable views. The picturesque turf roofed church sits in remarkable settings. Tjørnuvík gives you that true feeling of being far away from home on your holiday!

Drangarnir & Vágar Island

Get ready for an exciting day in the western part of the Faroe Islands. The absolute highlight of the day is a boat tour to the sea arch Drangarnir.

Start the day out by visiting stunning locations on Vágar island. Head to the renowned village Bøur and spend some quality time in the remote village Gásadalur.

The boat tour departing from Sørvágur is included in this package. You will meet the captain in the small marina in the village Sørvágur in the afternoon. Enjoy this exceptional experience in nature. The duration of the tour will be one hour or so.

Eysturoy Island

On your seventh and final full day in the Faroe Islands, you will experience Eysturoy Island. Here you will see some of the island's hidden wonders from quaint settlements to calm fjords surrounded by rolling green hills.

Drive from Tórshavn in the morning. Make sure to make your way through the Eysturoy Tunnel, which holds the world's first underwater roundabout. Stop in small villages such as Rituvík and Æðuvík both with a tranquil feeling to them. Enjoy the fresh air and endless ocean views. The scenery on the island is lovely.

At the end of the day, head back to Tórshavn. Spend your last evening at one of the great restaurants in the city centre.

Farewell to Faroe Islands & Departure

Drop off your car at Vágar airport in time for your departure. For those who have a later flight you can re-visit the untroubled scenery in Gásadalur where Múlafossur waterfall drops directly into the North Atlantic Ocean.
