Faer Isles Distillery produces the finest whisky, gin and akvavit in the Faroe Islands. This tour will open the door to the heart of the craftsmanship so you will fully understand and admire the work behind Faer Isles Distillery. You are guaranteed an experience that will fill you with wonder and delight!
This handcrafted distillery is the newest kid on the block. The enthusiastic team with passion for brewing and distilling launched the first spirits to the world in 2021. The dedicated team are distilling the finest spirits in the Faroe Islands in the tranquil environment in Vestmanna surrounded by mellow mountains.
The Faroe Islands is the ideal place for maturing whisky. Wild and windswept, the islands are exposed to weather conditions truly out-of-this world. The pristine and untouched mountains in the North Atlantic Ocean provide the water used in all the fabulous products.
The tour will take you through the story of Faer Isles Distillery. You even get the chance to do some tasting including new make whisky (mature whisky tasting available from latter half of 2026). This behind the scenes tour is a unique opportunity to listen and talk to the distillers who are representing a new wave of coolness in the Faroe Islands. Your tour guide will be a local whisky expert from the isles.
Thursdays, the tour can include an add-on: a stop-over in the Kvívík whisky warehouses set in the beautiful hillside with a magnificent view over the fjords. Please note that you will drive from Vestmanna to Kvívík independently in your vehicle as there is no transport included. A minimum of 6 pax is required for the warehouse part to take place. You will be notified in case the warehouse gets cancelled.
The warehouses are built as traditional Faroese “opnahjallur” food drying houses that have been used for centuries on the islands to cure food using the strong, salty North Atlantic wind, creating a whisky with maximum influence from the Ocean. 60-80% of the flavour in whisky comes from the maturation, yet very little difference is between how whiskies casks. The special and different maturation is has created a lot of international attention for the project.

What a wonderful and informative experience! Our host who was the founder clearly had so much passion and vision for a truly high quality and local approach to his distillery. He was an extremely engaging host/guide who went into detail about his journey and philosophy and his future plans and diversification whilst waiting for his whiskey to mature. We also visited the barrel storage location which he has set up as a wedding reception venue with some of the most stunning views on the islands. The tastings were also really nice with each spirit we tried really high quality. We couldn’t help but buy one bottle despite having virtually no room left in our luggage! Would definitely make the time to take this tour.

Very nice visit to Faer Isles Distillery.
Well worth a visit and highly recommend to buy one of their small tasters for the whisky which is very promising. It is not included in the tastings which is only for the spirits they produce (Gin, Vodka and Aquavit). They were all very good and highly recommend to buy one of them and get the new bottle made by a local artist. It is a small piece of art worth keeping.

Very interesting tour with a taste of some unique spirits, among them a high end gin and a vodka distilled with sub sea level water.
