Marjun and Heðin are Faroese locals who believe the best way to understand a place is through its food. Together, they lead one of the most personal food experiences available in Tórshavn — part tasting tour, part neighbourhood walk, part introduction to the people and stories that make Faroese culture what it is.
Their route winds through the heart of the capital: past the ancient timber houses of Tinganes, along the waterfront to Skansin Fortress, and up through the charming streets of Á Reyni — pausing at every turn for flavours, conversations, and the kind of local knowledge you won't find in any guidebook.
Marjun brings a creative eye for atmosphere and detail. She has a gift for helping guests slow down, notice the small things, and truly savour where they are — whether that's the light in a harbour-side kitchen or the story behind a single ingredient.
Heðin is a born storyteller with an encyclopaedic knowledge of these islands. He knows the hidden spots, the local characters, and the moments that stay with guests long after they've returned home.
Between them, they offer something rare: an invitation into the city they love, shared through flavour, conversation, and genuine Faroese hospitality.

Great guide (Heðin) that gave us alot of information and history as we walked. one thing to know is that the food was amazing, but lots of carbs and sweets, but you will get full.

Heðin knows a lot about architecture, history and food. He takes care of all participants and is fluent in both Danish and English. The food experiences are generous, various and well tasting. A very good way to spend an afternoon 👏

The best start of our holiday we could get. Getting an impression of historic Tórshavn, the people living here and the good ideas they have to let us enjoy and get a feeling of the life they have. A very good combination of getting information about the city and having stops to taste lokal and specisl food. Heðin, our guide gave us all the stories behind it and that was amazing. Heðin is such a good guide with a lot of knowledge, very kind and friendly. I can absolutely recommend this trip.

What you get is a three-hours super interesting stroll through Torshavn where you discover amazing food-spots, most of them hidden gems we wouldt’d have found ourselves. You get a glimpse and taste in history and traditions as well as in modern life an culture in the Faroys. Heðin is fantastic, friendly and funny guide, busting with stories and love for his country. He also gave us lots of great tips fort the rest of our stay – from restaurant and shopping recommendations to even where to get tickets for the handball match in the evening. 😉 If you think about booking this tour, do it!

Heðin was a very pleasent guide and answered all our questions. The food-stops are a mix of a bright variety of dishes, with an emphasis on local produced food and small independent business – but not necessarily traditional faroese food. So you get a feeling about what faroese people in their day to day life. Would definitely recommend.

This was a fantastic way to experience Tórshavn! Our guide was upbeat, knowledgeable, and fun. Over seven stops in three hours, we enjoyed a great mix of food, drinks, and sweets. The tour ended in a different spot from the starting spot, which we loved—it gave us a chance to explore more. Our host greeting friends along the way made it feel authentically local and added so much charm to the experience.

This was an unforgettable way to experience Tórshavn! Haðin was a wonderful guide — knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing Faroese culture. The tour struck the perfect balance between food and history, from sampling freshly baked goods and traditional dishes to wandering through colourful harbourside streets and hidden corners only locals know. Haðin’s local insights brought the city’s traditions to life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to discover the authentic taste of the Faroe Islands.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Walking Food Tour with Hedin. He was very warm and welcoming, happy to answer our questions and explain Torshavn’s current and past history as we walked. The food stops were all delicious, and varied and not at all rushed. It was a perfect way to get to see Torshavn for our first visit. We recommend his tour highly.

We had a wonderful time on our 3 hour Food Tour! We enjoyed eating a variety of local foods and learned about the people who made them. Walking the streets of Torshavn was a great way to experience the city. Our guide Marjun and her son gave us information about the Faroe Islands and answered our questions about the history, government, and people. We highly recommend this tour!

This was an amazing tour. It was not only a great way to explore Torshavn but also a way to get to know some AMAZING food and drink of the Faroe Islands. We ended up going back to several of the places we visited the next day they were so good! Must do!

An excellent introduction to both Torshavn and Faroese food. We visited places we would never have found ourselves and enjoyed some of the wonderful variety of food and drink available. We also learnt about Faroese life and culture. A memorable start to our holiday in the Faroe Islands.

This tour was phenomenal. It’s a must-do, and I highly recommend trying to book it as one of the first things you do upon arrival. It was the perfect intro not just to the excellent & diverse cuisine of the Faroes, but also to the streets and modern history of Torshavn. My highlights were the island-brewed beer & cider, handmade chocolates, and fermented lamb on bread made from scratch. The pace of the walking and the eating was good – not too much, not too little. And most of all Heðin was a warm, funny, and knowledgeable guide.

Great experience! We tasted different foods and drinks and Heðin (our guide) told many stories about the town, the country, the people and ofcourse the restaurants.

Really nice walk around Thorshavn. Not a hard walk – anyone can join. We tasted a lot of different foods and beverages, and heard stories about the people and shops that sold the goods. The guide was friendly and could answer all the questions asked by the members of our group. We were 5 people plus guide – from US, Sweden and Denmark. The tour guide spoke all theee languages, but we all stuck to English to make it easier for everyone. Fermented lamb, chocolate, newly baked cake and very good coffee was just some of the things we tried. As we walked, the guide told stories and answered questions. Time flew very quickly. Great fun and very recommendable.

Highly recommend this fabulous tour by a husband and wife team – we enjoyed a mix of delicious local foods in places you wouldn’t think of trying. This was all interspersed with snippets of Faroese history and life by our knowledgeable guide – Expect a fair amount of walking over 3 hours, but it was all well paced and tailored to our group of mixed abilities. Make sure you are hungry, you won’t be by the end!! (and they coped very well with food allergies in their guests challenges)
