Kvivikknit

Súsanna is a trained educator and MA in History of Ideas. She has knitted since she was 5 years old when her mum first taught her she art of knitting. She always has several knits on the go, usually sweaters and smaller knits. Súsanna offers knitting experiences in her little village on Streymoy Island. It is all about the joy of knitting and the excitement of starting a new project, choosing patterns, yarns, needles, colours, the process itself and the joy of finishing a garment.

I spent a wonderful afternoon with Susanna. She was warm, welcoming and kind. I had no previous experience but in our short time together I was starting to get the hang of the basics. She served coffee, cake and delicious chocolates. It was such a treat to spend time in her fantastic shop. This is a must do activity when in the Faroe Islands!

My husband & I had an unforgettable morning with Susanna. Not only did we knit with beautiful local yarn but we also enjoyed delicious cakes, tea & coffee. All the while gaining insight from Susanna about Faroese culture, language, traditions & the history of Faroese knitting. She also gave us too tips on sights to visit. If you’d like a memorable Faroese experience, this is a MUST! Takk fyri Susanna.

We had a great time with Susanna. It was an interesting evening. We learned so much about life in the Faroes from her. She was very patient with her explanation. The coffee and deserts provided were tasty. I would recommend to anyone to visit Susanna’s shop and learn how to knit. Thank you for your time and patience!

I had a lovely evening with Susanna talking about wool, knitting, patterns, and every day Faroese life. Since I am an experienced knitter the knitting conversation jumped straight into the structures of traditional Faroese garments, including the slippers I chose to make, preferred techniques, and swapping favorite tricks. The homemade coffee cake and rhubarb triffle made the best go-with.

I had the best experience during the 3-hour knitting club. Susanna is very welcoming and kind. She is a great teacher and has shown me how to use traditional Faroese colorwork. She also told me a lot about life in the Faroe Islands.
I would totally recommend anyone (both newbie and experienced knitter) to attend the knitting club! It is truly wonderful!

I had the most wonderful time learning to knit with Súsanna back in August! She was such an amazing teacher – incredibly patient, kind, knowledgeable and gave excellent instruction. The tea, treats, and friendly conversation could not have been better. The shop alone is worth visiting, as is Kvívík itself. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to the Faroes and I would highly recommend this knitting experience to anyone interested. I cannot thank you enough for this incredible experience!

This was my favorite experience in the Faroe Islands! Súsanna was patient, knowledgeable, and a wonderful hostess. We each chose two yarn colors for our scarves, and she guided us step by step, helping fix mistakes along the way. Over tea, coffee, and pastries, we learned not only knitting but also about Faroese life and culture. Her cozy shop was the perfect setting—and we couldn’t resist buying a few handmade items before leaving.

I have been a knitter for nearly 50 years. My husband has never hand-knitted. We both absolutely loved the knitting experience with Susanna. What a treasured opportunity to get to know someone while traveling, learn more about her culture, and also be exposed to the history of Faorese knitting. This was an amazing experience.
