Perfect tour

It’s totally worth it!! Didn’t expect to see so many things, and the landscape is spectacular!! Not to mention how friendly and knowledgeable the guide is, I hope to visit again soon;)

The tour was definitely the “high point” of our trip in Faroe Islands. Lots of puffins, beautiful landscape and a friendly guide!

This tour was the hilight of my stay here in the Faroe Islands! The puffins were amazing to see up close. Loved learning all about Mykines from a local. Katrin was very helpful, informative, and made the best homemade fish soup too! If you’re an English speaker, strongly recommend booking this tour with Katrin now!

Absolutely outstanding trip. Best one we have done in the Faroes. Katrin was really an excellent guide and host. It was such a lovely surprise to have homemade cake and coffee to start with at Katrin’s family house!. There was a packed lunch with some cheese and local lamb sausage and it was so beautifully wrapped and labelled. We visited the church and school and learnt a lot of history about the village and people. We then trekked up to see the Puffins. This was a brilliant move because all the people from the boat had left the puffin area and gone into the village. We ended the day with Katrin’s homemade soup, again at her home (away from the crowds). It was absolutely delicious. The whole experience was so good my husband and I were sad to leave. I would give this trip a ten if I could.

We absolutely loved our tour on Mykines and were very happy we booked in advance. Katrin was lovely! We really appreciated her first-hand knowledge of the island and its history and hearing about it from a local perspective. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

Once in a lifetime experience! Our tour with Katrin was amazing! Everything was very well organized. The tour operator had excellent communication about where and when to catch the ferry and Katrin was waiting for us as we got off of the ferry. The time zoomed by as we were welcomed into Katrin’s family house and served cookies and coffee. They also provided a brown bag lunch which we ate at one of the most beautiful peaks on the island overlooking the ocean. Katrin took us on a guided hike that circled the island. She shared with us the history of the island and its people while showing us the oldest house, church, and school. Of course the highlight of the tour were the puffins. We saw so many of them and it was a dream come true. After that, we went back to Katrin’s house and had some delicious fish soup. Overall it was an awesome and unforgettable experience at one of the most beautiful and secluded places left on Earth. Katrin even made sure every one of us made it back on the ferry. Thank you Katrin and her family for a wonderful time!

My time in the Faroe islands has been wonderful and spectacular.

Looking back at the day on Mykines I’d like to say wholeheartedly that it was magnificent. Katrin is a treasure of knowledge regarding the island and living on it.

As a guide and host she was very attentive to all members of the group that day and really made everybody feel welcome in Mykinesstova and on the walk around the town and island.

I’ll gladly recommend everyone visiting the Faroe islands to book this experience, if available.

We enjoyed our visit to the Faroe Islands. Our day on Mykines with Katrin was one of the highlights. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the community in Mykines. We saw some puffins up on the cliffs and then warmed up in the cozy house in the village. The woman working in the house was very nice, and we enjoyed chatting with her. She took us on a walk through the village and told us stories about life there. Overall, it was a great experience!

Mykines experience was outstanding, despite heavy rain.

Katrin made our day through her commitment (took us two times to the puffins at the top of the mountain), her excellent explanations, the tasty fish soup … FIVE stars!

You are met at the top of the stairs when the ferry arrives and taken to Katrin’s house where a plan for the day is discussed over coffee and biscuits. Following that we set off on a walking trail to the scenic spots and puffin nesting site. This is a photographer’s dream and all lenses can be utilised for a maximum return . The tour is with every dollar ! Do it !!

Naturally! Mykines, the small bird island in the far west of the Faroe Islands, is a true paradise for nature and animal lovers. It is home to puffins, which not only delight ornithologists and animal fans. The island’s remoteness and the ferry journey are what make it so attractive. We spend a perfect Day with with Katrin and her son Christian as local guides. He shows us everything interesting and even with the not perfect weather we spend a marvellous day. Thanks again for everything. 🐧✨.

I had an amazing experience in Mykines with Katrin, an incredibly sweet tour guide. The homemade fish soup and peanut cake were unforgettable and absolutely delicious.

Absolutely fantastic trip from start to finish!
Without doubt we had a most memorable experience on Mykines with Katrin and our small group of six. Katrin is a wonderful guide – welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and considerate. She was there to meet us off the boat and we enjoyed homemade cookies and coffee in her family home. Timing the departure for our hike perfectly and going in the opposite direction of the other guided hikes we frequently had the circular footpath to ourselves. The walking pace was easy and at no time were we rushed or hurried when stopping to view the puffins. Our lunch stop was perfect; with a stunning view we watched puffins flying around us whilst we tucked into some typical Faroese meat, bread and cheese sandwiches all beautifully wrapped and presented. At the end of our hike we returned to Katrin’s home and had a bowl of delicious fish soup along with coffee and more home baking. A day to remember and well worth the money.

We enjoyed the day thoroughly. Katrin was so knowledgeable and her family was lovely. The fish soup was delicious. We got extremely lucky with the weather and enjoyed watching many puffins. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

My son and I had a fantastic day on this tour. The sack lunch was great with a charming presentation. The evening soup and cake was welcome after a long and chilly day (and there was a vegetarian option). We have been on a tightly packed vacation schedule and deeply appreciated the opportunity to slow down and experience a full day in one place. We saw and learned much and moved at a relaxed pace that really allowed us to take in Mykines.

We got lucky with the weather and managed to visit Mykines on a sunny day. Katrin was a great guide and we were able to do a much longer tour with her and explored a large part of the island. She showed us around town, went up the cliffs, and then saw a few puffins. Not many because it was towards the end when they start to leave. She also prepared a great lunch and fish soup. Highly recommend this tour!

For en fantastisk dag!

Alt fra båtturen til gåturene var magisk. Alt var lagt til rette for en bra dag, Katrin møtte oss på toppen av trappen ved ankomst Mykines, og derfra viste hun oss videre til sitt koselige hus der vi kunne starte dagen med litt kaffe og kjeks.

Deretter bar det videre på fottur innover øya. Det var masse fin natur og historie som Katrin fortalte oss om.

Deretter kom høydepunktet for turen; Lundefuglene. De var der i hopetall og du kunne oppholde deg nært dem. Vi spiste den pakkede lunsjen ved fuglene, verden beste utsikt til lunsj.

Satte skikkelig pris på at vi fikk god tid med fuglene og kunne bestemme selv hvor lenge vi ville være der for å observere og fotografere fuglene.

Etter dette var det nydelig fiskesuppe i huset før en liten gåtur og dagen var over.

I can’t think of a better way to experience Mykines! Katrin was an amazing guide, the food and coffee were delicious, the puffins were adorable, and the sights were incredible. This tour was great way to learn about the history of Mykines, get a better understanding of the culture, and see all the wonders that this island offers. Highly recommended.

Fantastic tour. Our guide on the island was Katrin and she did an incredible job. From start to finish she was very welcoming, full of knowledge, very considerate, constantly monitoring the weather to maximize our opportunities (was sometimes wet and very windy), and made sure she answered all questions as well as proactively sharing her knowledge and experience. And her food was delicious. Five Star is not enough for this lady. Thank you so much Katrin.

Amazing day in Mykines, no way to describe in words everything we experienced. And not only because of the 100.000 Puffins we saw and the breathtaking landscapes. Kathrin was an amazing guide, a daughter from a native Mykines family. You can feel it in the passion she transmits, you receive from her so many interesting insides… the group 10 people was fantastic as well as the coffee, sandwiches and the phenomenal faroese fish soup…

This was a wonderful tour! We were a group of only 4 people, the weather was amazing, and Katrin is a great guide. We learned a lot about the life on Mykines, and our hike took us to places not many visitors are able to see. We had lots of time to photograph and watch the puffins. The food was delicious, too.
The timing of our hike was perfect, we felt as if we were the only visitors on the island.
If you want to experience Mykines and not only the puffins this is the tour for you!

Für uns war es der erlebnisreichste Tag mit vielen schönen Momenten. Der Tag startete mir der Überfahrt zur Insel Mykines, ca eine knappe Stunde. Hatten Glück, da das Wetter gut mitmachte. Dann begrüsste uns auch schon unsere Reiseleiterin Cathrine. Sie lud uns in ihr Haus ein für einen guten Start mit Kaffe und Kecksen. Anschliessend startete unsere Tour und war sehr eindrucksvoll. Sie hatte auf alle Fragen eine kompetente Antwort da sie sich bestens auskannte. Die Atmösphäre war sehr familiär, da wir zu acht waren. Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen. Wir sahen tausende Puffins, die landschaft natürlich wunderschön und die Geschichte um Mykines absolut spannend und informativ.
Ihre Fischsuppe war sehr köstlich, auf jeden Fall probieren. Die Tour ist absolut empfehlenswert, wir würden nochmals hingehen.

What a wonderful day ! Katrina is an amazing guide and we really enjoyed our day on Mykines Island. A lot of history and nature. And puffins of course !

An amazing day on Mykines Island, perfect weather and wonderful guide who was very knowledgeable and whose family has a home there. Seeing the puffins was amazing, along with the charming villa he and many ancient stone structures along the hike. The soup was really wonderful at the end of the day too!

We had an excellent day! Our original tour date had to be rescheduled due to the weather and we were grateful to have had a buffer day to take the day trip out to Mykines. Amazing views, great food, saw so many puffins and our guide was very knowledgeable and sweet. My only feedback is that in our original email confirmation we were told we’d be back by 18:45, however we realized after getting to Mykines that the ferry left later than we were originally told and we ended up being back on Sørvágur at 19:15, and we were running off the ferry as we had a dinner reservation we were very late for. (I had even asked to make sure that we’d be back in time for dinner before rescheduling.) So I’d advise you don’t make plans for after your Mykines day to avoid that stress. 🙂 However the day itself on Mykines was idyllic and wonderful.

We couldn’t be happier about our Mykines stay 🙂 It was such an amazing experience to visit the puffins without crowds. Our hosts were so wonderful and accomodating. You could really feel that they love the island and enjoy receiving people. There was so much space for conversations about the Faroe Islands culture. The food was delicious (and even the vegetarian one got to enjoy the fish soup without fish :). The appartment we stayed at was so cosy and had everything you need for your stay. And the view from the window: simply a big wow 👌

The hike to the puffin hill was so amazing. It’s a good moment to do that in the evening. We saw really a lot of puffins. They were so active at that time of the day and we could just enjoy watching them without the crowds (there were literally around 80 people waiting for the ferry back when we arrived to Mykines). The next day after the breakfast we had another short hike to the other side of the island before we took the ferry back.

This is such an excellent, relaxed tour. You arrive on the island as the last returning ferry transports all the daytime tourists off the island. Our host couple, which are natives of the Faroe Islands, were so gracious. The fish soup dinner was the best we had on the islands. We walked peacefully among the puffins and had great views. In the morning, we boarded the first arriving ferry of the day. Again, missing the crowds. This is a must do trip
