We felt so privileged to experience the island with so much knowledge and generosity by our side. The experience still sits with us and will undoubtedly continue to do so for a long, long time.

  3. Tseng Yiyen

It’s totally worth it!! Didn’t expect to see so many things, and the landscape is spectacular!! Not to mention how friendly and knowledgeable the guide is, I hope to visit again soon;)

  4. Gabrielle Persson

Our guided tour to Mykines was fantastic.

  5. Jorge Ferreira

The tour was definitely the “high point” of our trip in Faroe Islands. Lots of puffins, beautiful landscape and a friendly guide!

  6. Catherine Jaeger

The tour on Mykines island was great: we got lucky with the weather and saw so many puffins from so close! We enjoyed it a lot. Also we liked having a taste of the faroese food and plenty of time to chat with a local about the faroese life. Additionnally, we got sightseeing stops at the bottom of the cliffs, both ways, and we wondered if it is always the case or if we got lucky that days since it was the regular and not a tourism boat.

  7. Mallory Tittle

This tour was the hilight of my stay here in the Faroe Islands! The puffins were amazing to see up close. Loved learning all about Mykines from a local. Katrin was very helpful, informative, and made the best homemade fish soup too! If you’re an English speaker, strongly recommend booking this tour with Katrin now!

  8. Katharine Dunn

This was a day we will always remember! Katrine was a lovely host, showing us all over the island. Such fresh air and bracing wind. Seeing thousands of puffins was a magical experience. We enjoyed meeting people from many different countries. Katrine’s fish soup was the perfect way to end the day! Thank you!

Absolutely outstanding trip. Best one we have done in the Faroes. Katrin was really an excellent guide and host. It was such a lovely surprise to have homemade cake and coffee to start with at Katrin’s family house!. There was a packed lunch with some cheese and local lamb sausage and it was so beautifully wrapped and labelled. We visited the church and school and learnt a lot of history about the village and people. We then trekked up to see the Puffins. This was a brilliant move because all the people from the boat had left the puffin area and gone into the village. We ended the day with Katrin’s homemade soup, again at her home (away from the crowds). It was absolutely delicious. The whole experience was so good my husband and I were sad to leave. I would give this trip a ten if I could.

The highlight was spending time with the lady on Mykines. The extra touch of going into her home for food drink and a chat was terrific!

  11. Emanuele Frasson

It was amazing and the tour guide was great. She was very warm and welcoming to us.

    Thank you very much.

Katrin was amazing! I was the only guest on the tour that day and she still went above and beyond! We walked the town, had some coffee/ tea and then walked the island for hours! It was beautiful and she told me lots of interesting facts and stories. After the hike she made me some fish soup which was incredible along with cake, cookie and some hot tea. Highlight of my trip! Love it.

  13. Abigail Schneidereit

Trip was amazing! Definitely the highlight of the trip. Very glad we were able to do it.

  14. Kevin

Fantastic day tour. We were the only 2 on the actual tour, and it was everything we could ask for.

  15. Anne Marie Sumner

We absolutely loved our tour on Mykines and were very happy we booked in advance. Katrin was lovely! We really appreciated her first-hand knowledge of the island and its history and hearing about it from a local perspective. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

It was one of the best experiences that we had on Faroe Islands

  17. Mark Takehara

Once in a lifetime experience! Our tour with Katrin was amazing! Everything was very well organized. The tour operator had excellent communication about where and when to catch the ferry and Katrin was waiting for us as we got off of the ferry. The time zoomed by as we were welcomed into Katrin’s family house and served cookies and coffee. They also provided a brown bag lunch which we ate at one of the most beautiful peaks on the island overlooking the ocean. Katrin took us on a guided hike that circled the island. She shared with us the history of the island and its people while showing us the oldest house, church, and school. Of course the highlight of the tour were the puffins. We saw so many of them and it was a dream come true. After that, we went back to Katrin’s house and had some delicious fish soup. Overall it was an awesome and unforgettable experience at one of the most beautiful and secluded places left on Earth. Katrin even made sure every one of us made it back on the ferry. Thank you Katrin and her family for a wonderful time!

It was a great experience, and shes very good. Smaller group, we walked different areas than the larger tour groups, loved going to her house and eating home cooked soup. Highlight of the trip.

My time in the Faroe islands has been wonderful and spectacular.

Looking back at the day on Mykines I’d like to say wholeheartedly that it was magnificent. Katrin is a treasure of knowledge regarding the island and living on it.

As a guide and host she was very attentive to all members of the group that day and really made everybody feel welcome in Mykinesstova and on the walk around the town and island.

I’ll gladly recommend everyone visiting the Faroe islands to book this experience, if available.

We loved the day we had with Katrin. It was one of the highlights of the trip. Even though it was a foggy day, we still got to walk around and see the village and learn about the way of life on Mykines. Katrin was a lovely host and we enjoyed having a cosy meal in her family home.

  21. Steven Schreiber

We enjoyed our visit to the Faroe Islands. Our day on Mykines with Katrin was one of the highlights. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the community in Mykines. We saw some puffins up on the cliffs and then warmed up in the cozy house in the village. The woman working in the house was very nice, and we enjoyed chatting with her. She took us on a walk through the village and told us stories about life there. Overall, it was a great experience!

  23. Jerry Mackel

Mykines experience was outstanding, despite heavy rain.

Katrin made our day through her commitment (took us two times to the puffins at the top of the mountain), her excellent explanations, the tasty fish soup … FIVE stars!

    Highly recommendable.

  24. YihHung Yeh

Amazing place and thanks for the good weather.
Many thanks for the local tour guide provide a hot coffee, cookies, fish soups and also the history of this place.
For most important is “Puffin”, we saw many of them and really enjoy the whole journey.

  25. Philip Reid

We had a wonderful day walking the island with our lovely guide ( Katrin)
You are met at the top of the stairs when the ferry arrives and taken to Katrin’s house where a plan for the day is discussed over coffee and biscuits. Following that we set off on a walking trail to the scenic spots and puffin nesting site. This is a photographer’s dream and all lenses can be utilised for a maximum return . The tour is with every dollar ! Do it !!

  26. David Jonas

Admittedly we had perfect weather, but Mykines (and this Mykines tour) lived up to our high expectations. Katrin runs a very casual visit around her island, where there is plenty of time to take in the views, learn about local history, and enjoy close up puffin encounters. It was a brilliant day.

  27. Michael

It was a great Trip. Thanks to Kathrin who guided us safe on the Island trough the windy day.

  28. Charlotte Krabbenhøft

Grey day, bit of wind a few seesick on the ferry. The stay on Mykines was fantastic. The food by our very friendly host and the hike with her son was outstanding. Saw many puffins. Our group was very international and we had a great time. Advice to future guests, dress appropriate. A great day

  29. Ashley Jacobs

Loved everything! The ferry ride, the tour guides, the food, the puffins – everything was wonderful. Can’t recommend this enough!

  30. Jeff

This was the highlight of our 7 days on the Faroe Islands. Beautiful vistas, thousands of puffins and enjoyable walks. Katrin and her sister-in-law are kind and wonderful hosts. It was very interesting to hear about their lives on the island and the history of the village. And the food they provided was delicious. We cannot wait to return.

  31. Markus + Susann

Naturally! Mykines, the small bird island in the far west of the Faroe Islands, is a true paradise for nature and animal lovers. It is home to puffins, which not only delight ornithologists and animal fans. The island’s remoteness and the ferry journey are what make it so attractive. We spend a perfect Day with with Katrin and her son Christian as local guides. He shows us everything interesting and even with the not perfect weather we spend a marvellous day. Thanks again for everything. 🐧✨.

  32. Dagmar Feldmann

Thank you, Kerstin for an excellent tour around your beautiful island. The tour was excellent filled with knowledge and special spots to see the puffins up close.
We enjoyed the hospitality in your traditional house and loved the fish soup and cake. It felt like an invitation into your home.
We can definitely recommend this tour!

  33. Wai Yi (Teen)

  34. Karen

Katrin was amazing. Very knowledgable and it was a lovely walk. Also the soup and biscuits were also amazing. We had a brilliant day. Would highly recommend it.

  35. Yann MOREAU

  36. Patrick

5 stars! Wonderful tour, exceeded all expectations. Due to rough seas we were told that we may not be able to return that day, we risked it and are glad we did. Katrin was a wonderful guide, showed us all the different birds (not just the puffin highlight!), very knowledgeable and provided a fantastic packed lunch and fish soup. Highly recommend this tour.

  37. Frances Cox

Absolutely fantastic trip from start to finish!
Without doubt we had a most memorable experience on Mykines with Katrin and our small group of six. Katrin is a wonderful guide – welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and considerate. She was there to meet us off the boat and we enjoyed homemade cookies and coffee in her family home. Timing the departure for our hike perfectly and going in the opposite direction of the other guided hikes we frequently had the circular footpath to ourselves. The walking pace was easy and at no time were we rushed or hurried when stopping to view the puffins. Our lunch stop was perfect; with a stunning view we watched puffins flying around us whilst we tucked into some typical Faroese meat, bread and cheese sandwiches all beautifully wrapped and presented. At the end of our hike we returned to Katrin’s home and had a bowl of delicious fish soup along with coffee and more home baking. A day to remember and well worth the money.

  38. Laura

Katrin was awesome. We saw many puffins, hiked around the village, ate delicious fish soup and had overall one of the most memorable days of our travelling. Even the ferry ride to the island was something to experience. Would highly recommend this!

  39. Melissa Harnock

    It was fantastic

  40. Philippa Hodgins

It was a wonderful day: perfect weather with sun and no wind. Katrin and her son were great guides & hosts, the house provided a lovely respite and fine food, and the puffins were magic!

This tour was a highlight of our whole trip 😊

  41. Bimal Patel

We enjoyed the day thoroughly. Katrin was so knowledgeable and her family was lovely. The fish soup was delicious. We got extremely lucky with the weather and enjoyed watching many puffins. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

  43. Virginia Kooyman

My son and I had a fantastic day on this tour. The sack lunch was great with a charming presentation. The evening soup and cake was welcome after a long and chilly day (and there was a vegetarian option). We have been on a tightly packed vacation schedule and deeply appreciated the opportunity to slow down and experience a full day in one place. We saw and learned much and moved at a relaxed pace that really allowed us to take in Mykines.

  44. Daniella Levitt

We had a fantastic time at Mykines – so glad we were able to get there.

  45. Calvin Y

We got lucky with the weather and managed to visit Mykines on a sunny day. Katrin was a great guide and we were able to do a much longer tour with her and explored a large part of the island. She showed us around town, went up the cliffs, and then saw a few puffins. Not many because it was towards the end when they start to leave. She also prepared a great lunch and fish soup. Highly recommend this tour!

  46. Lutz Vogel

we had a great time, and were aware of how lucky we were with the weather to make it to Mykines! Katrin was a great host and excellent tour guide. We saw puffins, had fish soup and a good laugh – all wonderful memories.

  47. Alfonso

It was a really nice day. The Island is beatiful. Katherin was very kind and her fish soup was marvellous. A perfect Choice to go to mikkines

  48. Dan Cooper

I loved this tour. Kathleen was very sweet natured, hugely knowledgeable about the island and made us some delicious food. Even at the ‘wrong’ time to see puffins, we still saw a few and it was magic. Go if the ferry is running!

  49. Kasia

We couldn’t be happier about our Mykines stay 🙂 It was such an amazing experience to visit the puffins without crowds. Our hosts were so wonderful and accomodating. You could really feel that they love the island and enjoy receiving people. There was so much space for conversations about the Faroe Islands culture. The food was delicious (and even the vegetarian one got to enjoy the fish soup without fish :). The appartment we stayed at was so cosy and had everything you need for your stay. And the view from the window: simply a big wow 👌

The hike to the puffin hill was so amazing. It’s a good moment to do that in the evening. We saw really a lot of puffins. They were so active at that time of the day and we could just enjoy watching them without the crowds (there were literally around 80 people waiting for the ferry back when we arrived to Mykines). The next day after the breakfast we had another short hike to the other side of the island before we took the ferry back.
