Step aboard a quality boat and go on an unforgettable adventure to Vestmanna Sea Cliffs. On this classic Faroe Islands experience you will have the opportunity to see some of the most remarkable coastline in the Faroe Islands.
The trip departs from the harbour in Vestmanna, a village in impressive amphitheatrical settings. Vestmanna is also the tour's meeting point.
You will have the chance to enjoy the café just beside the departure point. Right next to the café, you will see a selection of small fishing boats belonging to the villagers.
After everything is set, you will sail out of the harbour and head straight to the stunning sea cliffs. Sail through breathtaking nature and explore the great wildlife just outside of Vestmanna.
The Vestmanna Sea Cliffs are a natural wonder and a must-see experience while in the Faroe Islands. Sheer mountain sides, towering sea stacks, and rich birdlife is what you will explore on this one and a half hour boat tour.
You will sail near these amazing cliffs and if weather permits, the tour will include sailing through rocky gorges. This scenic attraction will get you near to several bird species that are nesting in the narrow sloping ledges in the cliffs.
From the boat you will see high mountain peaks on the island Streymoy and many caves along the coastline. You will sail only few metres from the highest sea stack in the area Heygadrangur which rises 144 m out of the salty North Atlantic Ocean.
The boat trip along the narrow channel between sea stacks and the coast is a fascinating and unforgettable experience. There are no signs of human construction or development in this area. This adds to the undisturbed and untouched experience when exploring the cliffs north of Vestmanna.
Explore the breathtaking cliffs of Vestmanna on this boat trip with daily departures in summer. Check availability by choosing a date.

We booked this excursion in March for our September trip. When we arrived at the tourist office, they could not find our reservation. I pulled it up on my phone and the attendant called the captain and explained the situation and asked if it would be okay to have us aboard the apparently full boat. He said yes, thankfully.
The tour was lovely. It appeared that most of our fellow passengers were Danes from a paint company on an organized trip. But there were also an Irish couple and a second American couple. The views were amazing, but the speaker system was not great. Combine that with the captain who spoke very fast and with a challenging accent and we often couldn’t understand what was being said. We did, however, hear that there are 80,000 salmon in one of those aquaculture rings that you pass buy on the way out of the harbor.
At dinner that night I got a call on my cell phone. It was an international number that I didn’t recognize. The person who called was from Guide to Faroe Islands. He confirmed we had taken the tour earlier in the day. He asked if it was our first time in the Faroes. It was. He said that someone may have used our tickets to take the boat excursion in April. If true, I cannot imagine how that could of been. Our tickets were very clearly for the day we used them and not for sometime in April.
Anyway, excepting that minor kerfluffle, everything was fine. Our boat turned south where the waters were placid. The turnaround point was the Witch’s Finger, sort of near the airport. The captain, we think, said that the northerly route, which we did not take, had 4-6 meter waves. That sounds wild! Glad he went the southerly way, and that we had a sunny day in late September.

Despite bad weather conditions, the tour was still pretty awesome. The beginning was a bit wet and boring in September since all the birds including the puffins were already gone, but once we headed into the cliffs, the sun came out and everything just looked absolutely amazing. Still worth it in September!

We knew that we would be too late in the year for Puffins and other birds but nonetheless, it’s always good to get out on the water and it was really interesting to see the land from a different perspective. How we got into some of the coves and on one occasion, a cave with such a large boat was testament to the skipper’s impressive skills. A really good trip on what seemed to be an immaculately kept boat with plenty of deck space and (for the Faroese weather) indoor seating as well.

Amazing tour to some absolutely fantastic cliffs near Vestmanna.
Definitely recommend going!
We had some pretty rough weather but that just made the experience even better. Just hold on tight to the railings 😉

One of the best activities in our trip to Faroe islands. The sea cliffs are stunning. You have to come and experience it by yourself. Don’t miss a fish and chips after the journey in the restaurant at the tourist center

The trip was breathe-taking – the best boat-trip we´ve ever made. Totally our 3-week stay on Färöer has been our best trip ever. So nice people, that wonderful coastlines, mountains, fjords an valleys, that quietness. Absolute waste-free (and boat-free) beaches: never seen this in the last 20 years – nowhere.
The weather presented us all colours: we liked the fog, the storm and the sun. Perfect.
As you can read: we were so happy and I dreamed of Färöer every night in the first two weeks, as we were home again 🙂
