Faroese woman offering a traditional knitting club experience in their private homes in Tórshavn. The doors are opened to an authentic evening with local wool and knitting needles.
It was an amazing experience, that taught me something new I would definitely be doing in my spare time. The atmosphere was really cozy and the food was delicious. The hosts were super kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend taking part in this happening as you can learn not only how to knit, but also a lot about Faroe Islands.

I had a lovely evening with Elin and Gunnvá! They were very welcoming and friendly, and spoke excellent English. The food that they served was delicious, and Gunnvá’s house was cozy, inviting, and a very comfortable to spend the evening learning about Faroese knitting and culture. I would absolutely recommend this experience!

It was such an unforgettable, precious time at the knitting club as is titled as Cosy Evening.
I had been notified that I was the only guest participant that evening and was a bit nervous before it started, but from the moment I stepped into their home I felt at home and so relaxed. I really enjoyed learning about the basics of knitting in the Faroe Islands, chatting with my hosts Elin and Gunnvá, enjoying a delicious supper and, of course, knitting.
Travelling alone from the other side of the world, I’ll never forget the warm welcome I received that evening.

The evening with Elon and Gunnvá was definitely one of the highlights of my visit to the Faroe Islands. They started the evening by going through the knitting process from the raw wool to spinning the yarn to knitting. They have a book that shows all the traditional Faroese patterns that they use for inspiration in creating their projects and I selected one to try. We sat down for coffee and tea and an entire spread of treats including bread, cheese, smoked salmon and a delicious Rhubarb dessert. But my favorite part of the experience was spending time with these kind, warm women who opened their home to share a bit of their life and culture.
