Breathtaking 6 Day Winter Getaway to the Faroe Islands

Let’s get your car, so you can get around. The car will be at the pickup location at Vagar airport upon your arrival in the Faroe Islands.

Once you got your car, head to the unspoiled village Gásadalur. Here you will check in at your accommodation, a lovely cottage in the unspoiled Gásadalur.

Your top attraction to experience in Gásadalur is Múlafossur waterfall. This stunning natural wonder drops right into the impressive North Atlantic ocean. You can easily spend an hour here simply soaking in the sight.

If you have an early flight, you will have time for another activity on your first day. Drive to Lake Sørvágsvatn. From here you will go on an easy hike to Trælanípa. This is where you will see the lake above the ocean and Bøsdalafossur waterfall.

Good morning! It's your second day in the Faroe Islands.

You will start your day by walking up to the mountain Eindalsfjall. Your goal is to see the spectacular heart shaped lake nestled in the beautiful valley. The nature here is stunning and you will also have an exceptional view of the islands surrounding Vágar island.

Afterwards you’ll drive to Sandavág, where you’ll take one of the Faroe Island’s most beloved short hikes to see the impressive rock formation. Trøllkonufingur towers 313 metres (1027 feet) above sea level.

Now it's time for you to enjoy the fish restaurant in Sandavági, Fiskastykkið. This cosy place is filled with stories and will thrill your senses.

When you are finished visiting Vágar, you’ll drive to the capital, Tórshavn. There you’ll be staying at the new hotel, Hotel Brandan.
When you have checked in and seen what the Hotel has to offer, you are ready to go to see the villages, Kirkjubø and Velbastaður.

Kirkjubø offers you a historical and cultural point of view of the Faroe Islands. There you’ll get the possibility to visit the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral, Kirkjubøar church and the old farmhouse, Kirkjubøargarður.

Next, you’ll drive to Velbastaðháls, where you’ll walk up to Risastein. There you’ll explore the stunning view of the multiple islands; Vágar, Koltur, Hestur and Sandoy.

After the trip, we recommend eating at the restaurant in Hotel Brandan, Húsagarð. They’re using local produce whenever and wherever it is possible with an offset in Nordic cuisine. Marrying the local with the international, the chefs create dishes full of familiar flavours without pretentiousness and dogma.

Jump aboard this amazing tour to the stunning village, Saksun, and unspoiled settlements on Eysturoy island. Walk along the long beach between the mountains until you reach the ocean.

Afterwards you’ll drive to the village, Eiði. There you’ll find the famous football stadium nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean. Eiði sits a short drive from Eiðisskarð, which is the trailhead to Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in the Faroe Island.

Among the eighteen islands that make up the Faroese archipelago, Eysturoy (East Island) is the second largest in both size and population.

You’ll drive towards the longest under-sea tunnel in the Faroes and the first roundabout under water in the world. You’ll arrive to Toftir, where you’ll hike around the beautiful lake, Toftavatn. Enjoy the rich birdlife and pass by the statue of the Shepherd with his dog.

After the tour you’ll drive through Runavík and head to Klaksvík. Klaksvík is the second largest town in the Faroe Islands. There you can go for a short hike up to Klakkur. This is an easy hike with a rewarding panoramic view of the town Klaksvík on one side and to the other Kalsoy island and Eysturoy island.

End the trip, driving back to Tórshavn on the old rute, where you’ll see the beautiful landscape while driving. We recommend eating at Tarv, which offers a tasty treat with the Tórshavn marina just outside the window.

On the last day, you’ll have the day all to yourself. Either revisit Múlafossur waterfall in Gásadalur or go for a stroll in Tórshavn.
