Vágar Island is home to many of the best sights in the whole of Faroe Islands. Your expert local guide will take you to the untouched nature on the island including the vantage point Trælanípa and the two adoring villages Bøur and Gásadalur.

The tour starts with pickup in Tórshavn. Jump on the mini van, sit back, and relax.

Now, you will head from Streymoy Island to the west to Vágar Island. On your way from Streymoy Island to Vagar Island, you will take the epic mountain route with lots of great photo opportunities.

Prepare for an extraordinary experience, once you get to Vágar Island. Put your boots on and hike with your tour guide to a sheer cliff. This is the famous attraction next to Lake Leitisvatn where you will see the 'floating lake'.

The hike is super easy and the views out-of-this-world. Expect this part of the tour to take a bit more than three hours. Once you get to the rugged seaside, sit down and enjoy the views next to Bøsdalafossur Waterfall and the Geituskorardrangur rock wall. This is where you will enjoy a delicious packed lunch.

Next up is til turf roofed village Bøur. Go for a stroll in the settlement and enjoy fantastic views of the peaky islet Tindhólmur and the sea arch Drangarnir.

Finally, you will get to Gásadalur. After seeing the breathtaking Múlafossur waterfall, you will have time to enjoy the small village.

    Throughly enjoyed this tour! My guide was Tomas who showed me the lake above the ocean while we had a picnic lunch. He was happy to answer all my questions about the Faroese culture, politics, and history, which created a very informative tour.

    (Oct. 15th, 2024) The tour is simply outstanding! Thomas, the tour guide and also the driver, was very competent, giving informations about the villages, culture, and general contents about the Faroe Islands itself. Safe driver! Múlafossur waterfall is awesome! The village of Bour is very pictoresque, very enchanting. And last but not least, the Traenípa hiking can be tricky in some tracks (mainly if it’s raining, because of the mud), but it’s completely worthwhile when you reach the viewpoints of the “Lake Above The Ocean”. Absolutely breathtaking!!!! Something unforgetable!!! Don’t miss it for the world!

    The payoff at the end of the hike out is totally worth it, unreal views, and if the weather is dry(ish) the hike is very easy that most people who can walk 7-8 km can do this with no issue.

    Borfree (hope I spelled her name correctly) is the best ! Very knowledgeable, pleasant and friendly. Stopped at a couple of sights not included in the itinerary. Had lunch with a view of the Múlafossur Waterfall… way better than dining at a 5 star restaurant.
    And the sun was out !

The views are breathtaking and if you are as lucky as I was with the weather, you will take stunning pictures.     This is a great starter walk or hike before you get into the tougher ones. Aside from the amazing scenery, you also get to learn more about the Faroese culture and technology, which can sometimes be misrepresented and misunderstood in the west.

    This is the place that made me come to the Faroes and this tour is absolutely fantastic! The hike is fairly easy, a bit muddy and rocky at some points, but is really worth it. The views you get are out of this world. The guide is very nice and experienced, I would recommend this tour a million times!

    After seeing many pictures of the Faroe Islands, this tour was a fantastic experience to be able to see these sights in person. My guide had great local knowledge of the area and gave interesting insights throughout as a Faroese person. The guide was professional and made the tour an engaging experience. The hike out to Trælanípa was excellent as was seeing the waterfall in Gasadalur, even with grey clouds the views were spectacular. The day was one of the highlights of the trip!

    The hike is absolutely beautiful and very easy going with a very small gradient. The guide was great for all my tours I booked. I booked group tours and ended up being the only tourist and getting private tours each day!! This was my last tour with them, the lake over the ocean is absolutely stunning, like a optical illusion. The tour guide was also very friendly and easy to get along with and will easily keep you entertained with which ever topic you want to talk about. I booked three tours with him and ended up learning so much more, then just the Faroe Islands when it comes to the tours but we talked about religion, economics, cuisine, politics and so much more regarding the islands. It was a great trip, highly recommend. There is a beautiful place on the cliff to have lunch and see the calm lake over the roaring ocean.

    This has to be my bravest thing I ever did, walking on cliffs with slippery grass without rails could be scary for those afraid of heights, and it is the safest to travel with an experienced guide than going on your own.
    Great views takes great risk, that scenery above is taken on the cliff, so brace yourself
