Mountain Hike from Mikladalur to Trøllanes

Join a fantastic day tour on Kalsoy island. You will hike on the highest path in the Faroe Islands connecting the two beautiful villages Mikladalur and Trøllanes.

Your journey starts in Klaksvík downtown on Borðoy island where your local guide will greet you. You will then step onboard the local ferry SAM to the unbeatable Kalsoy island. Once you reach the island, you will drive to the lovely village Mikladalur where you will visit the famous Seal woman and hear her legendary and dramatic story with a surprising challenge in the end of the story.

Now, you will start your exciting hike from Mikladalur to Trøllanes. The first part of the path leads you to the hidden and super quiet Djúpadalur valley were you can hear the same suggestive and deeply peaceful 'diamond sound', that the first people, that found the Faroe Islands for more than a thousand years ago, heard. This place is extraordinary and perfect for a good packed lunch with local produce.

After you have enjoyed the delicious lunch in nature, the hike will continue. From this incredible and desolate valley you will walk the second part of the path north to the tiny village of Trøllanes in the most northernly part of the Faroe Islands. You will have out-of-this-world vies along the hike that only very few people have experienced.

In Trøllanes you will hear the thrilling story of how the small village got its special name (Trøllanes translates to The Trolls Cape) and how the old stories of the Hidden People influenced our ancestors. After a well brewed coffe and tea with the local pancakes, you will start the journey back to Klaksvík in a comfortable vehicle. Your tour guide will make sure that you get all the way back to the harbour in Klaksvík, after a full day of mind-blowing nature.

Additional Information

It is highly recommended to do this hike with a tour guide. The tour starts at the ferry terminal in Klaksvík. If you bring your own car to Klaksvík, park it here for free and you will then do the day tour to Kalsoy island in your tour guide's vehicle.
