Explore the unspoiled Mykines Island on this extraordinary evening and sunset tour. Greet the puffins with a local guide and stay on the island overnight.
The Classic Mykines Overnight Sunset Tour includes accommodation on the bird island. Blend in with the locals and the puffins and enjoy the tranquility of Mykines Island in the evening.
This tour requires two people (so book for two people or more).
The puffins gather together for a bit of social time during the late evening hours. You will be in the middle of this extraordinary bird happening. This is a once in a lifetime experience.
You will embark the Mykines ferry at 5:30 PM from mainland Vágar Island. Some 45 minutes later, you arrive at Mykines Island and your local guesthouse host and guide will greet you once stepping on land and will take you to the guesthouse. Your host will be at the harbour and greet you with a sign with your name on it.
Find yourself at home in your private room with a true Nordic atmosphere. Now, you will walk for a minute to a cosy house in the village for a delicious homemade fish soup. While enjoying supper, your hostess will tell you the best stories and legends about this magical island. Among others the great Mykines painter, Sámal Joensen Mikines, fishery and the state of the island and the birdlife as you see it today.
After the lovely fish soup, you will go for an unforgettable evening tour. Get ready to meet and greet the puffins and see the sunset!Â
The summer in the Faroe Islands is remarkable. During the peak of summer in June, July, and August, there are 23 hours of light. This makes an evening tour in Mykines something truly special.Â
After the evening walk, you will go back to the village and your private accommodation. Sleep under the ceiling in cosy private dbl. rooms with B&B standard. The guesthouse has a great wooden atmosphere and private bathroom.
Next morning you will have breakfast. You can then take a stroll through the village and down to the ocean. Alternatively, go for another short walk to the hill to say good morning and goodbye to the puffins. You will take the boat back to Sørvágur departing from Mykines Island just after 10:00 AM.Â

We couldn’t be happier about our Mykines stay 🙂 It was such an amazing experience to visit the puffins without crowds. Our hosts were so wonderful and accomodating. You could really feel that they love the island and enjoy receiving people. There was so much space for conversations about the Faroe Islands culture. The food was delicious (and even the vegetarian one got to enjoy the fish soup without fish :). The appartment we stayed at was so cosy and had everything you need for your stay. And the view from the window: simply a big wow 👌
The hike to the puffin hill was so amazing. It’s a good moment to do that in the evening. We saw really a lot of puffins. They were so active at that time of the day and we could just enjoy watching them without the crowds (there were literally around 80 people waiting for the ferry back when we arrived to Mykines). The next day after the breakfast we had another short hike to the other side of the island before we took the ferry back.
