Visit the breathtaking puffin island Mykines during the summer months in the Faroe Islands. This open shuttle boat will take you all the way to the island that combines breathtaking landscapes with thousands of puffins.

You will embark the boat by the harbour in the village Sørvágur on Vágar island. You will then set off from Sørvágur and take a 30 minutes memorable journey by sea. As you get closer to Mykines, you will start to see puffins flying in the air and sitting on the pristine North Atlantic ocean. This is just a warm-up to what you will experience later.

The crew will sell you the hiking spot when embarking the boat. So you are all set when booking this tour!

Important to know for 2025 season. The path to the lighthouse on Mykineshólmur is closed in 2025 due to a landslide. You will still see lots of puffins up-close when visiting Mykines.

When you step on Mykines, you will spend 3 hours on the island. Disembarking the boat requires you to move your body from the boat to the the quayside. Just make sure that you are fit for getting off the boat.

In course of your hours on Mykines Island, you will have time for both a hike and to spot as many puffins that you will ever experience in your life. There is even time for a cup of coffee at the local Mykines café. Here you can get refreshments and a light meal before heading back to Vágar island.

This shuttle boat departs at 09:30 in the morning from the Sørvágur marina. Your certified captain will make sure that you get a safe and enjoyable boat ride.

The boat ride is done in a boat seating 12 people. You will sit comfortable when cruising between Vágar Island and Mykines Island. This tour will secure you a boat ticket to the much talked about island.

Mykines is the most popular summer attraction in the Faroe Islands for good reasons. Once you are there, you will be awe-stricken in a way very few other places on earth allow. This is your chance to experience Mykines with comfort and ease.

Tick Mykines off of your bucket list with this smooth boat tour to the untouched bird island. Check availability by choosing a date.

Really well organized and nice boat ride!

Fabulous tour. Extreme winds and rain prevented us from getting to Mykines, sadly, but the Guide to Faroe Islands team made up for it by coming out despite the weather and taking us for a tour of the bay. Our guide provided historic and geologic details coupled with fabulous storytelling. And despite the weather conditions and lateness in puffin season, we even managed to view numbers of these delightful and intrepid little seafaring birds. This team will keep you safe and make your day bright. Highly recommend!!!

Harry our skipper was very skilled. Our trip to Mykines was altered due to the sea conditions, but our alternate trip was excellent. Saw many puffins and a seal popped up to check out what we were doing. Thrilling trip.

Excellent trip and fantastic crew, knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour. We booked this trip as the morning ferry was booked out and we were really glad we went on Mykines shuttle and not on the ferry, looked much more comfortable and it was much more fun. The weatherproof suits kept us warm and dry during the trip. We’ve had great time. Strongly recommend.

Fantastic boat tour— in spite not being able to get to Mykines due to weather conditions—the tour provider gave us an excellent one hour boat tour of other sites near Sørvágur. Knowledgeable and funny local tour guide, comfortable boat.

The night before our ride we got a message cancelling the shuttle to Mykines due to high swells on the islands. In the email we were given an alternative to come and do another tour on the water as we had already paid up.

The tour was a one hour ride to the waterfalls, Dranganir and we saw lots and lots of Puffins. The crew was well informed and had quite a bit to tell us. I highly recommend that tour because unless you plan to do the full trek once on Mykines this one is more fun and you don’t have to give your whole day to it. Also who doesn’t love a speedboat over a ferry.

Amazing experience… if you like adrenaline experiences. A fast boat shuttle to the island of Mykines. The crew is funny and well trained. Avoid it if you suffer from seasickness, if you are elderly or have small children, if you are afraid of water or high speed (in these cases the ferry is better for you), if instead you love the air in your hair and flying on the waves… don’t miss this boat shuttle!

We booked the Mykines shuttle boat tour and upon arrival we were kitted out with big weatherproof suits which we needed for the speedboat to the island. On the way we stopped and sailed through Dragnamir sea arch. The ride was a little bumpy with the odd bit of spray but it was fun and fast. On the island we had three hours to look round. There is a hiking fee to pay which seems to change by the day. At 1pm we all donned our suits again and got back on the boat. On the way back we visited Mulafossur waterfall. We arrived back about 2pm. The two crew on the boat were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English.

If you book this tour then there’s probably no need to book the 1 hour Dragnamir tour offered by the same company as you see these on this tour too. As we had booked that, they let us cancel the second tour, which was great as then we had time to visit somewhere else.

Very professional throughout, felt perfectly safe, and even saw a few puffins !

The boat ride was an experience in itself. It is like a fast speedboat and takes about 20-30mins. Yes, its expensive but you will reach the island in between the public ferrys which takes 80 pax. The time difference allowed us to have an unhurried time on the Mykines island which is filled with thousands of puffins.

They provide a waterproof coveralls and life jacket. It provides insulation from the wind and water (splashes from the boat) but your hands, head and feet wont be covered so be adequately prepared. The boat also sailed past dragnarir but it was a quick one so if you want a slow boat ride that lets you take alot of photos, take the other tours!

After reaching the island, you have to pay an entrance fee which is not included in the boat ride. We think the price is steep but worth it considering we got very up close to the puffins and had many nice photos. You cant walk all the way to the lighthouse but can walk to approx 100m before that and the view is still as nice. There was nothing much to do in the village and the cafe didnt seem to be open so bring your own food. Overall, we enjoyed the trip.

The boat shuttle itself was quite an experience and a lot of fun. The staff was very friendly. However, it would have been helpful to know beforehand about the in our opinion way to expensive hiking fee of 500 DKK.

A really great experience on an unique island 🐧.
After this impressive visit we understand the need for regulation of visitors, the hiking fee and all the rules to protect the wildlife and nature.
And congratulations to the Klavsvik soccer team with an remarkable spirit on their way to the Champions League! 👍👍

  12. Alex Barbeau

It was great! The tour was quite fun, particularly going through rock formations on the way to and from Mykines.

Both my mum & I loved the boat trip experience – so much fun! Crew were very helpful, friendly & experienced. And we saw so much birdlife- especially puffins! Would highly recommend.

Fantastic tour to Mykines, including detours to Drangarnir and caves. Excellent staff and guides. Absolutely recommend!

Helt igennem fantastisk god tur. Meget hjælpsomme og flinke gutter der sejlede båden. Vil helt sikkert anbefale denne tur 😉

  18. Michael Stone

I personally loved the tour. The sun was shining and there were thousands of Puffins. Once I got off the boat, I set of immediately to walk the dedicated track. I did not join the guided tour which must have had 80 tourists in it. Just too many people to scare the Puffins.

We took a tour in late July.Comfortable RIB , have plenty of time to see a lot Puffins, recommended.
