This is our first day tour on Faroe Islands and it was an easy and straightforward hike up to the Lake above Ocean and the waterfall. Suitable for people of all ages. Our guide Brynhild was very friendly and she shared alot of the Faroese culture, local folklore and many more.
    Highly recommended.

  9. João Lopes

The place is very beautiful and even more with good weather. Also worth visiting Geituskorardrangur on the other side of the lake.
Gásadalur was precious, too. Got to see a puffin around the viewpoint to Múlafossur waterfall.
Excellent experience with Ditte, who guided me on the tour.

I had a most exquisite experience with Randi today—she just dropped me off after a full day of hiking and great food. She was absolutely wonderful—a wealth of information and a great “Plan B” after clouds and rain prevented us from making it tot he top of Villinggardalsfjall. Truly, she was a gem and I’m grateful to have had her as a guide today.

Randi was top notch—I can’t say enough good things about her and all the rich knowledge and history she shared about the Faroes. She must be one of your top guides to be proud of!

  11. Asana Kusnadi

It was on october 4th, the wind gusts were insane. Although randi and i made it to the foot of the mountain, she put the safety first and took me for plan-B hike. We drove to Klaksvik viewpoint and Kirkjubour. The experience was awesome and we had an amazing conversation throughout in which she explain about culture, legends, and social life of Faroese. I would recommend hiking with Randi

  12. Melanie Sandlarz

The hike wasn’t possible that day because of the wind, however Randi came up with an alternative and while we didn’t do the original hike, I had a wonderful time. Randi is very knowledgeable about the area and a great tour guide.

  13. Horan Madeline

Randi is a knowledgeable, charismatic guide who crafted a gorgeous secret hike for us across the islands when we deemed it too wet and foggy in the first mountains. I loved her stories about witches and sorcerers in addition to her talks about the history of the Faroe Islands. The sandwiches she provided were great! If I have an opportunity for another hiking tour, I’ll definitely go with Randi!

  14. Tanya Muscat

The tour with Randi was a great experience. She has good knowledge of the area and told stories about the local culture and the Seal Woman. She also played music on the drive related to the Seal Woman, explaining the story as we headed there. The hike was an enjoyable experience, and even though it was not possible to see anything at the end due to the cloudy weather, she made the walk interesting by providing knowledge about the local birds and we stopped along the way to hear and see the different wildlife. Kalsoy was a memorable part of the visit to the Faroe Islands and the tour is recommended!

  15. John Walke

Excellent tour – our guide was great and was very friendly and told us a lot about the Faroe Islands. We were lucky to have great weather on the day and it was well worth the money.

  16. Katie Lennox

We loved our day with Jógvan! He was a wonderful guide; very informative and insightful. He taught us everything from Faroe Islands history, to politics, to geography. We really enjoyed just chatting with him.

The hiking was very nice. It was more of a medium hike, with a few tougher uphill parts, but nothing too challenging. (I actually enjoyed this hike more than the Lake Sørvágsvatn hike. I liked the variety in this scenery, and how you could walk around a hill to get a different view.)

Overall, it was a great experience, with some very beautiful scenery. Jógvan is great!

  17. Katherine Mackenzie

We loved our trip to Kalsoy and the Kallur lighthouse. It was a beautiful place and the tour guide made the trip fun and easy. Highly recommend.

  18. Nathalie Zahnd

I had a lovely and informative day with the tour guide.
    Many thank to him!

It was my best trip on Faroe Islands!

  19. Ash Syah Reza

she was very accommodating to our requests, wait for us during the trek up and helpful. the view was out of the world. magnificent view all around. during the journey,it was very cloudy so u cant see any views but when we started, it was all good. u should have a bit of fitness for the trek as it wasn’t that easy and wear trek shoes and bring dlsr cameras

  20. Bert Peirsman

Very good tour. We got the real weather, I guess 😉

  21. Mark Gaw

It was an excellent trip and we had the best time there. Thank you for making our trip memorable and fun!

  22. Travis Broocke

We loved every part of your beautiful island. Randi was great! If we would have booked another tour we would have asked for her personally. We loved our vacation there.

  23. Hong

Randi was warm, organized and knowledgeable. She emailed me ahead of the tour to confirm the pickup schedule and recommended us to dress in layers, which was helpful during the vigorous hike. On the day of the tour, she picked me up promptly and drove three guests via a few undersea tunnels. We were lucky to visit Kalsoy with no rain or wind. The hike was vigorous, but the sight was tremendous. Randi helped us to catch the ferry in time to return to the hotels around 4 pm, just in time to rest a bit before dinner. Randi works as a literature and Spanish teacher and converse fluently in English and French too. She has travelled extensively to Latin America. It was such a pleasure touring the Faroe Islands with Randi.

Thank you for such a wonderful day on this trip. My guide, Randi was knowledgeable, kind and very thoughtful and ensured I did all I wanted to. The scenery was spectacular as was the weather, ( lucky me!) so I had a memorable experience and fabulous day out.
All the guides from this company, Guides to the Faroe Islands have been so kind and thoughtful, knowledgeable, speak excellent English and I have learnt a great deal from each of them.
    Thank you all.

This tour was excellent and a great way to experience Kalsoy and Kallur Lighthouse. Randi was my tour guide and she picked me up in Torshavn and drove me to Klaksvik where we waited for the ferry. I will say you do have to be ready to queue as this is a small ferry and also be ready to get onto the buses on the other side which can sometimes fill up quickly. The ferry ride is short but the ride can be a little rough at times. After the bus ride through the tunnels Randi guided me on the route out to the Kallur lighthouse (the main attraction). Be advised you definitely need boots and dress in layers (“like an onion” Randi would say) as the terrain is muddy and slops steeply to the left or right making for plenty of awkward steps. Randi was super knowledgeable about the island, the lighthouse, surrounding landmarks, and pretty much everything Faroe islands. She was happy to take pictures and hike at my pace. This location at the lighthouse is amazing, there are plenty of sheep to see and also a gravestone for James Bond as this ridge is where they filmed scenes in No Time To Die. Randi provided a great story about the Seal Woman statue which sits in the town of Mikladalur to the entire bus as we made our way back, you also typically get to visit this town and see the statue. She kept everything on schedule and was a pleasure to go hiking with. If you are trying to see this lighthouse Randi is a great guide to take you there.

The day started when Randi picked me up on Torshavn. There were other hiker than me. The three of us went to Klaksvik where we waited for the ferry to bring us up to Kalsoy. Then after we arrived at Kalsoy, we rode a local bus towards the beginning of the hike. The end of the hike was amazing, the view was incredible, we stopped at the Kallur lighthouse and the james bond Tombstone. We also went to Kopakonan (the seal lady) after our hike. Although the weather wasn’t that good (it was raining and drizzling during most of our hike), Randi waited patiently and guided us through the whole journey. She came prepared with the mighty hiking stick which helped me big time stick on the ground when the wind gusts were crazy. She also made a commentary with a local legend, history and local stories to helped us understand more about Faroe Island and its People and history. But most inportantly, she kept us safe during the hike!! Thanks Randi for the experience !

I had an amazing tour led by Samson! Unfortunately the weather was bad but I was incredibly impressed by how quickly Samson was able to regroup and still made sure that I had an amazing time. I really felt that he cared about my experience, and checked in often to see how I was feeling. Samson was full of interesting stories and facts about the islands. I really enjoyed our conversation and the views were out of this world! I would absolutely recommend this guided tour to anyone!

  28. Fred Mangaravite

Randi is a great guide with lots of information about the Faroe and the area. If you are fit I definitely recommend this tour. Beware of the winds!

  29. Khaled Al Huraimel

I really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it. One of the best hikes I have ever taken and the weather allowed the views to be breathtaking once we reached the lighthouse. Also get to know about the seal woman and traditional music of the islands.

  30. Marius Karlsson

Great tour I was the only one on it so it was more of a private tour, Randi was very nice and I learned a lot about Kalsoy and the Faroe Island! The hike was also great😃

  31. Zvi Rosen

Had a great informative day with lovely Randi.

  32. Roger Morberg

I highly recommend this tour! Randi is friendly, fun and informative, with a lot of knowledge of the Faroe Islands and especially the local folklore and history. The hike was a lot of fun and the views were incredible. A must see if you are visiting the Faroe Islands!

  36. Svyatoslava

I had an awesome experience on a tour to Kalsoy island and lighthouse with Randi. The hike was not too hard, and it took about an hour to reach the lighthouse. The views were stunning, and Randi was an excellent guide who knew a lot about the area. She was super friendly and approachable. Thank you, Randi!

  37. Caroline

  38. Fiona Walkley

Trip with Randi was fantastic. Informative, adventurous and fun. great hike up to the lighthouse and seeing the amazing seal woman sculpture was magical.

  39. Wan Kheng

It was such a memorable hike up the lighthouse. Brynhild was experienced and able to guide us through the safe route and it didn’t feel that difficult. The view up there was breathtaking and we just couldn’t get enough of it.
Highly recommended to go for this tour.

  40. Matteo Ficarella

This was a really amazing tour and would definitely reccomend! The guide was very friendly and helpful. While the hike could be done on your own, it can be stressful figuring out the bus and ferry as they have only have a limited capacity. Being with a guide meant we could relax a bit while also learning about the islands and talk with a local. I would definitely reccomend taking a tour for the hike!

  41. Jody Sayre

This was my favorite tour 🙂

  42. João Lopes

The lighthouse location is beautiful. And the views are also spectacular, specially to the west.
Didn’t care much about James Bond’s gravestone.
Seal woman statue is an interesting complement to the tale. You got to know it to fully enjoy the visit.
Going through the tunnels – the narrow ones on Kalsoy and the subsea ones between islands (one even with a roundabout) – also gives a nice touch to the tour.
Randi, who guided me, was always very attentive to provide me a good tour and get me to be on time no to miss transportation. It was a very enjoyable time talking to her, hearing the stories and talking about languages. Gracias Randi.

  43. Henrique Balthazar

    Amazing tour!!
Randi is a great guide who knows everything about the place and tell us amazing Faroese stories.
    A day to remember.
    Thank you!!

  44. Shaley Williams

I highly recommend this tour and Randi is full of knowledge on the Faroe Islands. She is an excellent hiker and guide. I personally would not advise anyone to make the trip to Kalsoy without Randi or someone like her because of the perks and knowledge you get with being with a local guide are invaluable.

  45. Tracey Wyatt

This tour and hike was amazing. I would not recommend doing this activity without a tour guide like Randi. The transportation situation is complicated and being with Randi ensured that we would get a spot on the ferry. Randi also knew the way to walk up the mountain as there is no formal path. She kept us safe with her knowledge of the terrain and was sure to stop regularly on the way up to the lighthouse to accommodate all levels of fitness in the group. She provided a great deal of history of the area. The stop at the Seal Woman sculpture was a lovely ending to the tour and we were even able to get a photo with a rainbow behind the statue. Thank you, Randi!

  46. Jay

This was an exhausting, but a worthy hike to the Kalsoy lighthouse. I would rate as as extremely difficult, instead of moderate. Randi was an excellent guide, and took us to an off beaten path, which she recommended, due to not being as muddy as the marked path. She even took us to the James Bond Tombstone, and the Seal Woman, even though those weren’t on the itinerary.

  47. Kristine Joo

An Experience I will NEVER Forget.
I went to the Faroe Islands for a milestone birthday. I decided I wanted to spend doing something memorable on the day of my birthday, so I booked the guided tour to Kalsoy & Kallur Lighthouse with Randi. It was the MOST WONDERFUL time, and I could not have asked for anything more perfect on my birthday. Randi is an incredible guide. Her knowledge and love for the islands are undeniable, and her love for and experience with hiking are evident – she led the way without any issues and it was so easy to follow her lead. Randi definitely went out of her way to make sure I had the best experience and one I will never forget. She truly made it special. I don’t want to spoil the surprises Randi has/does, so I highly HIGHLY recommend booking Randi for a very special experience.

A wonderful tour of Kalsoy Island and all its special places with Randi. Randi’s love of the Faroe Islands comes through every word of her knowledge of the history, the environment, and the sagas of how the Faroese lived and live. It was delightful to meet local farmers, residents who make cheese, candy, and live in a beautiful place with harsh conditions. The drive and the walks were stunning. Thank you Randi for a wonderful day. Is this tour a must if you have the time – absolutely!!!

  49. Angela Hope

Fantastic day in Ambadular valley. Randi is an excellent guide, we can’t recommend her enough. Flexible and responsive to our needs. We were probably slower walkers than many, aged 70 and 70 plus, and we walked at a comfortable pace seeing and hearing about so many things of interest to us. E.g wool, fleeces, birds, wildlife, geology. We had the impression Randi would be able to respond to everyone as an an individual.
The day began with a drive to Gjogv with some stops and interesting information about local businesses and the economy. The scenery is stunningly beautiful and we were blessed with a day of no rain and the fog cleared too!
It’s a 2 1/2 mile hike to the viewpoint for the sea stack Bugvin. We enjoyed watching fulmars and guillemots on the cliffs. On the walk we also saw great skua, artic skua, gannets, golden plover, oyster catchers and we heard whimbrels too. Oh, and we saw a hare.
On the way home Randi introduced us to some Faroese music. Perfect end to a perfect day. Do this trip if you like walking/hiking in fabulous mountain scenery with a perceptive and responsive guide.
