Thank you to Tummas for organising our hike today! Our guides Óðin and Randi were terrific companions and taught us a lot about Faroese nature and culture. Despite a little rain, we were led on a route that was a good match for our schedule and fitness levels. We would heartily recommend a similar trip to anyone who wants to see Faroese landscape up close and safely.

Excellent hike tour. You get to picked up by your accommodation by the guide and his wife. Then you ride to the area and the hike starts. The area and it surroundings are beautiful just like you almost on another planet. You get to see a lot of out of this beautiful nature surroundings in a area not many people come. So that’s makes it extra special. In the end you get picked up again to get to a restaurant called Kafé Kaspar where you get a delicious dinner. This is included in the tour and that was great to end the tour, because believe you get really hungry after it 😉

We loved our hike that was recommended strongly by Hogni and were not disappointed. Tummas is an excellent and experienced guide who took us on a beautiful hike north of Torshavn with gorgeous coastal vistas, waterfalls, and streams. We appreciated his knowledge and stories about the region. stóra tøkk!

It was so worthwhile. I feel fate intervened so we got to go on that trip rather than trying to do it ourselves. Thomas is very knowledgeable and great fun. He had organised a superb fish soup lunch at Cafe Mormor – just what was needed!
The museum at Tvoroyrar Bygdaog Sjosavn was really interesting but the toilet facility needed a massive clean up. As Thomas said it was ‘not cared for’, a massive understatement and not like any other facilities we used on the islands.
There was a good mix of scenery, information and culture and we were so lucky with the weather. We saw stunning views and fearsome drops into the sea. Thomas took good care of us.
We got back to the ferry to find it was not certain to run because of a fire in one of the funnels. Fortunately Thomas had a cousin who had a holiday house so he took us there for a cup of tea whilst we waited to hear about the ferry. At 8-20pm it was cancelled until 5 am the next day. Thomas went off and bought pizza for us all whilst we thought what to do. We could have stayed -huge thanks to the kind cousin who offered his house on the basis of a phone call from Thomas – he was not there.
We were a group of four older people – none of us with our medication, (a lesson learned there) and were desperate to get back to Torshavn. We thought about the helicopter but Thomas could not get through and of course they were on emergency standby and it would have been very expensive. Then Thomas had a brain wave and rang a fisherman friend who was willing to come down from Torshavn to pick us up and take us back. Thomas stayed with the car as he had another trip south the next day and persuaded his very pregnant wife to collect the next party and take them to the ferry the next day where he would meet them at the port. We met her briefly as she collected them the next morning!
We had the most magical trip back with Flossar. We watched the puffins and fulmars fishing, and saw them returning their nests. We witnessed the most stunning sunset and ran down our camera batteries to flat! Flossar took photos for us as we took it in turns to get a bit of charge in our phones from his charger. It was such a wonderful, wonderful experience never to be forgotten.
For me it was the perfect example of the kindness of strangers and the renowned friendliness and helpfulness of the Faroe islanders. Flossar even called us a taxi when we landed back in Torshavn. Back to the hotel at midnight!
Thomas was outstanding. We did not get back until midnight as the public ferry was not running. We went to his cousin’s summer house for a cup tea then his fisherman friend came down from Torshavn and brought us back by fishing boat. A wonderful experience.

Our visit to Suduroy turned out to be even more exciting than anticipated. However we were in the safe hands of Tomas – a knowledgable, kind and very welcoming young man with a great sense of humour – the latter turning out to be essential as the day wore on.
After a two-hour ferry ride south we spent a really interesting day on this beautiful, southern island – a mixture of emerald green agricultural land and spectacular cliffs and turf-roofed houses. At Café Mor Mor we ate a wonderful fish soup and home-made bread. It is really worth mentioning the bread in the Faroes as it is almost entirely home-baked and absolutely delicious.
Then the news was delivered by an ever-calm Tomas . . . . the ferry back to Tórshavn had been cancelled. Tomas “just happened” to have a cousin with a holiday house on the island. A quick ‘phone call and we had a cosy base for a cup of tea and a wait for information. The ferry was not going to sail that night but we had to get back to Streymoy. Tomas “just happened” to have a friend with a small fishing boat . . . . .
Tomas was an absolute star, as was his friend Flosi, and we had a truly memorable sunset sail back to Streymoy.
I highly recommend Tomas – he was an excellent guide and I would like to thank him for an exceptional day’s sightseeing.

I‘m very happy i booked the Tour to Suduroy when i stayed on the Faroe Islands this summer. We did a lot of very nice hikes with the most beautiful landscapes to wittness. Tummas did an awesome job as a tourguide and i am really thankful he did not cancel the tour even i was the only one who booked the tour that day.
I can only recommend to take that tour to one of the most beautiful places on the Faroe Islands.

The 9 Hour tour to Suduroy Island with Tummas was fantastic. The ferry experience was fun and Suduroy Island is filled with nature, history, culture and beauty. Tummas walks the land and tells the stories with great pride and enthusiasm. His knowledge of the land, the sea, the birds and mammals and of course the Faroese history provided me with a good understanding of how the residents live on Suduroy. Thank you Tummas for a wonderful day. If you are wondering if you should take this tour; absolutely!!!

This was one of the best tours I have ever had in the Faroe Islands. Tummas and Borgfrið were excellent guides and always cared about everyone and gave us lots of information. It is a long full-day tour and you get to see the whole island of Suðuroy. The weather this day was very windy and rainy, but we still had a great time. The only thing we couldn’t see was the bridge, but that was for safety reasons. I totally recommend this tour, it is one of the best things to do in the Faroe Islands.
Gracias Tummas y Borgfrið! Espero que nos volvamos a ver!

Absolutely the highlight of my trip to the Faroe Islands! Our hike to the bridge was worth the climb; stunning views, and perfectly timed so our little group was alone at the top. The weather on the day that we went wasn’t the best, but Tummas did a fantastic job adjusting our itinerary so that we could get the most out of the day and introducing us to locations off the beaten path with stunning views. Tummas was an amazing tour guide; personable, passionate about the Faroe Islands, and full of information about the Faroe Island that he was excited to share with us. I booked another tour to a different location with him after this experience; would absolutely recommend this trip and any other tours that he leads!

Our day trip to Suduroy will not be soon forgotten….breathtaking scenery and an informative guide who took great care of us.
He guided us on a hike up to the top of a cliff so we could walk across the famous wooden foot bridge for an exhilirating view and kindly took photos of us on the bridge. It was a bit of a challenge making it back down the mountain in the pouring rain but he made sure we were all safe. I highly recommend this tour!

I had a good time, saw a lot without having to worry about the logistics, and my guide and fellow group members were interesting and well-traveled.
Half a star off because without the refreshments promised in the write-up, lunch was too light for a 12 hr day with hard walking so we got a bit cranky by the time we got to the ferry and could buy our own dinner. The other half a star off because while our guide knew the island well, he didn’t know as much about the history or culture as implied in the write-up.

I was really curious about this trip. I specially booked it for the Rituskor, where you can walk over the wooden bridge. Well that don’t happened because we had a another tourguide who don’t do often this tour and the group was different composed. Ofcourse all friendly and good, the same goes for the tourguide. A excellent lunch included in a really good cafe. Breakfast and dinner are on your own costs on the boat. Lots of beautiful sightseeings where we get out, but also lots where we stay for some reason in the car. I did various tours with guidetofaroes and by of lot of highlights you had the chance to get out of the car and had te chance to make pictures. Now it was a part more car sightseeing and people taken pictures in the car.
If I would know that we don’t go to the Rituskor then I would not booked this tour, but the other one which only have Rituskor as highlight. It was therefore a bit disappointed. I heard that the tourguide who do this normally was on vacation. Actually they have to mention on the website that this could not always be possible. Then know people before booking the tour. That’s why the 3 stars.

Suðuroy is a beautiful island with many stunning scenic viewpoints. The guides was cosy and fun and the lunch at Café Mormor was delicious. A fantastic day, but it was quite a disappointment that the guides couldn’t find the time, so we could see one of the Faroese national treasures in Fámjin, namely the first Faroese flag (they could just have skipped one of the many scenic viewpoints). And the visit to the mine is apparently only on Saturdays (would have been nice to know). All in all a good day, but the tour provider seems more into hiking and scenic viewpoints than telling stories about the places that we visited and told nothing about the Faroese history or the first Faroese flag in Fámjin nor about the mine on the island. The departure of the ferry back to Torshavn was at least 20 minutes late, so if the tour provider had better communication with the ferry then there would easily have been time enough to see the flag in Fámjin.

Our tour was cancelled and instead we were rebooked to another cheaper tour. We liked the alternative but I give it 3 stars just for the bad customer service, it was practically impossible to opt out from the alternative tour and also impossible even to get a refund/difference between the tours. We liked the alternative cliff tour but everything that was before was bad. If you want to book it, make sure yourself that the ferry to Suðuroy is working otherwise your money will be gone…

We were picked up at the Hilton in Thòrshavn. It was a choice day, because the sun was shining wonderfully.
In the minibus there were a husband and his wife from another hotel. Tje friendly guide had not managed to get a ticket for his bus on the ferry, so we had to go by foot and change car at Kalsoy. The only problem was that the other car was for 5 persons instead of 6. So his little wife sat on her husband’s lap the entire trip. Emergency breaks law, because there was no seat belt in the luggage compartment of the car and no real place to sit, so it was not safe.
The hike to the tombstone of James Bond and the lighthouse was sometimes very slippery, but we all made to the top with the breathtaking view.
We had to vegan people in our group but all sandwiches had chicken. The organization forgot to inform the guide on this dietary requirement u fortunately.
The hike was difficult and not so average, but a paved path is under construction.
The guide knew much about the environment, was a helpful and relaxed person. We had a marvelous experience.

Great tour to visit Kalsoy island with stop to see the stunning seal woman sculpture, explore tunnel and a great hike to the lighthouse. The weather was incredible (5 Sep 25) and the landscape majestic. Our guide Annita made sure we had all we needed and paced the hike in relation to the group’s abilities. She had lovely stories and legends to tell bringing the landscape to life. As I needed to get dropped at Klaksvik on the way back and we couldn’t get on the ferry on time due to locals’ priority for transport, which was totally understandable, she let me get on it as a pedestrian. The flexibility allowed me to continue with my own schedule, and I’m very grateful for that. Whether you’re a James Bond fan and need to do a pilgrimage to the tomb or just want to enjoy incredible atmospheric scenery, the Kalsoy trip certainly has the wow factor. The land is starting to suffer, though, from the increased number of visitors (paths & grass), especially after a very wet period. Reflecting on how to adress this will soon become a necessity to preserve such a beautiful spot and others.

This has to be my bravest thing I ever did, walking on cliffs with slippery grass without rails could be scary for those afraid of heights, and it is the safest to travel with an experienced guide than going on your own.
Great views takes great risk, that scenery above is taken on the cliff, so brace yourself

The hike is absolutely beautiful and very easy going with a very small gradient. The guide was great for all my tours I booked. I booked group tours and ended up being the only tourist and getting private tours each day!! This was my last tour with them, the lake over the ocean is absolutely stunning, like a optical illusion. The tour guide was also very friendly and easy to get along with and will easily keep you entertained with which ever topic you want to talk about. I booked three tours with him and ended up learning so much more, then just the Faroe Islands when it comes to the tours but we talked about religion, economics, cuisine, politics and so much more regarding the islands. It was a great trip, highly recommend. There is a beautiful place on the cliff to have lunch and see the calm lake over the roaring ocean.

After seeing many pictures of the Faroe Islands, this tour was a fantastic experience to be able to see these sights in person. My guide had great local knowledge of the area and gave interesting insights throughout as a Faroese person. The guide was professional and made the tour an engaging experience. (Oct. 15th, 2024) The tour is simply outstanding! Thomas, the tour guide and also the driver, was very competent, giving informations about the villages, culture, and general contents about the Faroe Islands itself. Safe driver! Múlafossur waterfall is awesome! The village of Bour is very pictoresque, very enchanting. And last but not least, the Traenípa hiking can be tricky in some tracks (mainly if it’s raining, because of the mud), but it’s completely worthwhile when you reach the viewpoints of the “Lake Above The Ocean”. Absolutely breathtaking!!!! Something unforgetable!!! Don’t miss it for the world!

Absolutely stunning views! Weather was on my side today with the sun chasing away any fog. Long hike and the last portion of the climb was challenging. Our guide, Anita was simply fabulous. She explained every part of the hike, pointed out the views, paused for those who needed more time, pointed out the dangers, gave us time to really enjoy the out-of-this-world landscape, the art of mother nature. Gear up as some parts are rather steep. For the less fit, like me, I would rate the hike moderate in level of difficulty. A hike one must do or you cannot say you have been to the Faroe Islands!

This was a nice small group tour with a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. The first stop to Gásadalur offered beautiful views of the waterfall, and the second stop offered a short and peaceful walk through the village of Bøur. I wish there had been time to visit what looked to be a lovely cafe in Bøur for a coffee. There were also signs for a cafe in Gásadalur that prompted some passengers to ask if they could venture into town for a coffee there, so I think a slightly longer tour would have provided the potential for some of these explorations. The majority of the tour was spent on a lovely hike to see the lake above the ocean, filled with sheep, oyster catchers, and other wildlife. We unfortunately had rain and thick fog that prevented views of the lake, but the air was fresh and we had the trail to ourselves. Bagged lunches were provided, but I will note that dietary restrictions were not accommodated. When booking, we shared that one of our party has celiac and could not eat gluten, but he was unable to eat the sandwich or granola bar provided. He always travels with his own snacks, so he was able to enjoy the tour. All in all, this was a great way to see Vagar Island without a vehicle.

This trip was the first one in the Faroe Islands. We spent a delightful day accompanied by our guide Tummas who kindly showed us the most beautiful places on Vágar Island. At the beginning, we were picked-up from our accomodation in Tórshavn and we firstly stopped in Gásadalur where we admired the mountains and Múlafossur waterfall. Then, we went to Bøur, a fantastic coastal village with many turf houses and an enchanting view towards the ocean and the stacks Drangarnir. The most exciting part of the trip was the hiking to Trælanípa Cliff along Lake Leitisvatn situated above the ocean and offering a spectacular scenery. The route to the cliff was not difficult and we enjoyed every step. We had a good packed lunch on a rock after admiring Bøsdalafossur waterfall. We highly recommend this tour.

I took this tour with my teenage grandson a few days ago and we enjoyed it immensely. Anita was a great tour guide, she answered any and all questions giving us some appreciated insights into life in the Faroe Islands. We loved the sights and viewpoints we visited. The hike was wonderful, although only the first and last part of it were super easy. There was a steep climb to get to the top and best view, a bit challenging but fairly short. The part where we had a delicious sandwich on the rocks might be a challenge for people without good balance. If you have hiking poles, take them. Very well worth it for sure. It was a great day spent with a small group and a wonderful guide.

Due to a cancelled flight, my plans for my day tours got a bit upended. Guide to Faroe Islands was wonderful. They moved me around, found me a new tour and a new guide, and I had a wonderful time. THEN, while on that tour, I mentioned I was flying out the next day at 2:30 and was bummed to miss Vagar Island. And, like magic, they hooked me up with my second tour with Tummas, which was this one. It was fantastic. One of the best couple two-hour hikes I have ever taken. Tummas is wonderful, friendly, easy-going, and great fun. I fully recommend. He was kind enough to do a bit more driving than required so as to get me to the airport on time – thank you, Tummas! This was an excellent tour. Anita was a great guide leading the small group and providing a lot of local insight from the perspective of a Faroese. She was also very cognizant of the need for safety throughout, particularly near the cliff edges as it was very windy during our hike. This did mean that we couldn’t quite get the perfect view of the “lake over the ocean” since wind gusts could have blown us into the said ocean but I appreciated the caution based on local norms. Nevertheless, the scenery overall was amazing. The hiking portions were not at all difficult although it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear.
There was some confusion at the start with the pickup (probably because I had booked the tour quite late) but as soon as I informed the company, they immediately dispatched a taxi and I was able to meet up with the group without missing anything significant. (I didn’t realize until later that Anita gave up her packed lunch for me – thank you for that!) All very professional.
I highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I recently went on the “Faroe Islands Highlights” tour. We didn’t have much time in the Faroe Islands, and also didn’t have a car, so were hoping to see as much as possible in a one-day guided tour. David, our tour guide and also co-owner of Heimdal, provided exactly that. He was well-informed, professional, and extremely personable. During the seven hour tour, we thoroughly explored the two largest islands, Streymoy and Esturoy, visiting some of the most beautiful sites on the Faroe Islands, including the villages of Saksun, Tjørnuvík, and Gjøgv. Along the way David provided great commentary, ranging from historical facts to personal anecdotes about his life on the islands (he’s an expat from the UK). We even managed to squeeze in an impromptu pit stop for coffee at his lovely Faroese mother-in-law’s place! If you ever find yourself in the Faroe Islands (which I highly recommend!), do yourself a favour and book this tour…you won’t regret it!

This was AMAZING. As we had little time in n the Faroes we decided to do small yours to seize the time. David, from Heimdal Yours, was an amazing guide. He picked up us at our accommodation and took us in his car through Eysturoy and Streymoy, from 9 to 18 we were with him and it was one of the best days of our 3 weeks trip.
We had sun, cloud, rain, snow falling, hailstorms, amazing! We had stories about the Vikings, facts about the Islands and history of how all worked in the area in the old days. We had mountains and cliffs, small frozen rivers and waterfalls.
We couldn’t have Asked for more. Thanks David!

I would highly recommend this tour we had an amazing day.
When we booked I advised we are Gluten Free and was advised that would not be a problem, and we had a lovely lunch that accommodated GF people.
The tour guide was very informative and a really nice guy, very pleasant. We enjoyed everything about the tour, and we were really pleasantly surprised when we stopped at the ruin of the cathedral and went inside a beautiful wooden house. It was really fascinating. The couple that were also taking the tour were lovely people from NZ so there was just the 4 of us on the tour. Really great and a nice comfy vehicle.

I turned out to be the only person booked for the tour this day, but luckily my guide David decided to carry it through anyway, as his father was also visiting and could join us.
I had such a fantastic day with these two gentlemen! David was a very knowledgeable and informative guide who told me all sorts of things about history, traditions and society on the islands. It was of course luxurious to be the only client on the tour, but even with a full group of 7-8 people there would have been plenty of time for questions and discussions.
We visited pretty villages and beautiful sights, the nature of the Faroese islands is indeed stunning! Even the weather was relatively cooperative 🙂
We also had the pleasure of having some delicious waffles with home made rhubarb jam and coffee on the way – sold and served in the private kitchen of a very friendly Faroese couple.
I would really recommend this tour!

I enjoyed my stay in Faroe Islands and also like the highlight tour. I will recommend it to any friend who is on a tight schedule and wants to see as many spots as possible in limited time. I had great conversation with our guide. Although I would like to point out the rate for the tour is definitely not cheap, but considering the general price for everything in Faroe Islands, it is still acceptable.
Keep up the good work!

Tummas gave me an excellent Top Rated Faroe Islands Highlight tour. The spectacular scenery is mesmerizing while Tummas shares the history of the land and sea, the Faroese and how the villages continue to support residents. I learned so much about the raising of sheep in the Faroe Islands from Tummas; each answer prompted more questions followed by Tummas’s answers.
If you are limited on days for touring this tour gives an excellent overview of living on the Faroe Islands.

Hi,
Our Guide Tour (2024/06/23 9PM) was amazing, and we saw great places and beautiful landscapes.
But I did not got any informations about the places, I guess our tourist guide was a litte bit wierd and when we stopped somewhere her first thing was to smoke a cigarette and drink a coffee. I have been many times this kind of tours and our guiders always speaking during the travel and we got many informations about the places. I don’t want to say more but I got more informations from a passenger and from his wife who came from Norway during our trip then your tourist guide. So she was not prepared and I felt that she was just our driver. Unfortunately I can not give you more stars than one, but I guess the whole group had a same feelings. Otherwise Faroe Islands looks amazing!
best regards, Máté Bella

My firsr trip around Færøerne. Small group in a minibus with a very engaged and interactive photographer guide (sorry, couldn’t spell the Faroisk name). It was a very pleasant day touring with Tomas. He was very knowledgeable and more than willing to share . We saw so many beautiful sites – waterfalls, old historic site, lots of sheep ( all colors and sizes). I appreciated him rounding the sea tunnel roundabout twice so I could get the full experience. Really cool. The bagged lunch was perfect since the sun was out. I learned much about this small country and feel very fortunate I was able to visit. My only suggestion is perhaps a microphone to amplify his voice. My friends in the very back had difficulty hearing all the discussions. Thank you for sharing your lovely country with me.

This was an excellent tour for a day visit on the Faroe Islands. Pick up at the cruise ship in Runavik was no problem. We saw many beautiful places and learned a lot about the history and the life on the islands. Our guide was Janus.
On the stops we had plenty of time to walk around and take phototgraphs. Lunch was tasty.
The only downside was the car. We were 4 guests and in a regular car it was quite cramped on the backseat. But the tour was so great we didn’t really care and I can only recommend the tour if you have not much time and want to see a lot of the beautiful landscapes and villages.

I recently booked a day trip and it was one of the best travel experiences I’ve had! From start to finish, the service was impeccable. The booking process was simple, and the staff was extremely helpful.
The day began with a prompt pickup from my hotel by our friendly and knowledgeable guide, Anita. The car was nice and comfortable, and Anita was driving very nice. During the drive we were provided with bottled water, which was a nice touch, and tasty hot-dog.
The itinerary was perfectly curated, covering all the must-see sights in the area. We visited all the main attractions and the guide shared fascinating stories and historical facts that really brought the sights to life. I appreciated how the tour was paced — there was plenty of time to explore each stop, take photos, toilet.
Overall, the trip was incredibly well-organized, and the attention to detail was evident at every turn. I felt safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for throughout the day. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a stress-free, enjoyable way to see the sights. This tour was worth every penny, and I can’t wait to book another one the next time I visit! 5/5!

Anita gave us a lovely tour of Stremoy and part of Esturoy. Her English is perfect. She told us stories about the history of all the places we visited and gave us plenty of time to explore each place on our own. While my husband and I were sitting in the front seat, she also told us about different aspects of the social life in the Faroe Islands. When it turned out that the tour had not provided any lunch items for people who don’t eat meat or chicken, she graciously traded me and another person her own salted cod for our boxed lunch. And when we were on our way home, and I asked if we could just quickly see Hoyvik, she took us there.

An excellent tour to see some of the most beautiful places in the Faroe Islands. Borgfrið was our guide and she took us safely to all the sites, giving all the time explanations about surroundings and even singing for us traditional songs! We visited the village of Gjógv on Eysturoy Island, being fascinated by its astonishing sea gorge. Then we stopped at Fossá Waterfall and after that, we arrived at Tjørnuvík, a peaceful isolated old village, with an amazing beach and traditional turf-roofed houses. We also saw the pair of sea-stacks Risin and Kellingin and heard the legend of the giants from Iceland who tried to steal the Faroe Islands and eventually were turned into rocks. We enjoyed our included lunch in a local café and then we drove to Kirkjubøur. This historical place not far from the capital offers amazing views of the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral, Saint Olav’s Church with its serene cemetery, and an 11th century house with beautiful red windows that has been continously inhabited since then! We spent a wonderful day on this tour! Thank you, Bogfrið!

The guide was wonderful. She took us to many out-of-the-way places that were right out of a photo book. The stop for the waffles, her entertaining us with her guitar and singing, were truly terrifc. She was informative, cheerful, and very pleasant. The van, however, was not designed to take eight people comfortably. Six would have been good, but eight was very awkward and cramped. We took the ferry from Vagar to Mykines but we had to check the weather before the departure as it ‘s not always favorable and sometimes the ferry cannot come to take you back to Vagar! The weather is unpredictable. We had a little bit of Rain, sun and wind! So you have to dress in layers. A waterproof jacket and good hiking shoes is a must. The path is not very easy, but the View is absolutely stunning. Our guide Thomas was skilled and showed us the way to the puffins’ nests. We had a lovely lunch, that our guide had prepared for us, when we reached the lighthouse ! The way Back is easier. You have some time to stroll around the Village as well, while waiting for the ferry to pick you up!

The lady who greeted us with our ferry tickets & lunches was gorgeous, the healthy fresh lunch fantastic, the skipper & crew of the boat professional & attentive, our guide warm, friendly & highly informative. All in all an unforgettable experience.
Considering the unmeasurable value of the island ecosystem & diverse sensitivities, it is my hope & strong belief that all visitations to the island should by necessity involve a company such as yours to reduce future impact, particularly on Puffin/Lundi populations/nesting sites.

He not only coordinated all the fine details of each day’s itinerary flawlessly but he also adjusted accordingly to ever-changing weather conditions. Our day on Mykines was perfect!
Tummas was patient to answer all of our questions and introduced us to what has become one of our favorite destinations in the world. We are looking forward to returning soon and will most definitely be requesting Tummas again.

Absolutely terrific day, if you’re able to get to Mykines during your visit I’d strongly recommend this tour. To start with, the operator was kind enough to accomodate my late request for a hotel transfer to & from Torshavn which was much appreciated.
When we arrived on Mykines, our guide Tomass led us off in the other direction to most of the people on the island which worked out wonderfully well. We hiked up to a terrific spot where we enjoyed the excellent provided lunch. It was then along a ridge to the other end of the island where the larger puffin colony was located, and we passed the throng of people heading the other way.
This meant we were able to enjoy the puffins with very few other people around, which made the whole experience more relaxed. A great way to see the island.
Hats off to Tomass for a splendid day, right from the start of going over & above trying to track down 2 people who didn’t show & thus missed the boat.
His knowledge, enthusiasm & obvious pride about the Faroes helped make it a very enjoyable experience from start to finish.
We were fortunate with the weather in that there was little wind & cloud, but layering up is advisable – especially if you stand out on deck during the boat trip across. It can be a little steep and/or narrow a couple of times too, so if you are considering walking pole/s then it won’t go astray.
Having everything arranged was a great way to see Mykines, I’d encourage anyone thinking of heading out there to do it this way

I concur with Luke’s comments on June 9. My review comes late due to unforeseen circumstances. This tour is run by the Heimdals; very efficient and flexible in terms of clients’ requirements. The groups are small which makes it all the more pleasant. As a travel agent of many years I highly recommend this tour and tour operator.

The boat trip to and from Mykines was great and the driver took the time to show us different spots along the way. We then arrived at Mykines and started our hike. I have a dodgy knee and my partner is not a keen walker nor particularly fit. We were soon left behind. In the description of the trip it didn’t mention that there was serious hiking involved and a good level of fitness required. We missed most of the commentary. And just when we would catch up off the group went again with no time for us to catch our breath.
We were offered the chance to stop and wait while the group did a loop and came back. We enjoyed the rest and the tasty lunch.
When the group rejoined us we walked back along the ridge. One of the other participants filled us in on some of the commentary that we had missed. We appreciated that the guide took the time to point out the puffins to us and we were so happy to see them as we had heard that they had all left.
We also had an interesting tour around the village.
This trip is only for those with moderate fitness and this needs to be included in the trip description.

We were there on the last day of the season and there were still Puffins around. Also gannets and Fulmars and lots of them, a Whimbrel in the grass. o Kittiwakes but we were late in the season.
Tour was excellent and the guide Tomass knew his stuff. Lunch overlooking the Fulmars and Gannets flying the cliffs was great.
It was a great day and I would recommend this trip if it is the only trip you do during your stay – provided you are within the tour time frame.

Hervør was AMAZING! She was our guide and also happens to have a summer home on the island, so she’s incredibly knowledgable about all things Mykines. She even made us lunch including her own hand-smoked salmon and sausage; delicious! Hervør was thoughtful about the athletic abilities of our group when considering which route to take up to the puffins. Would highly recommend this tour group as they are muuuch smaller (five people in our group) compared to the larger companies (50+ people).

Great tour. As you need a guide to visit the island do we recommend to book a tour – the island is protected and you cannot walk around on your own. The other people who booked the ferry alone were hearded in a big group to the puffin colony. We enjoyed our walk and got to see more of the island.

The tour was amazing and we had a lady as our guide, she was very nice , explained a lot of the island history and local life. The island is stunning, the views are unique!
The only thing that was not right was the fact that we booked our tour on 18th of January , when it was mentioned that the tour had the departure hour at 10,45 a.m, and a duration of 7,5 hours. I didn” t received any information about the fact that the departure hour changed to 9,15 a.m, and that the duration of the tour has changed to 5,5 hours. When we checked , the day before the tour, on the agency’ s website, we saw the departing hours different, we emailed ( the evening before!) the agency and someone, luckly, responded that ” yes, it is at 9,15″. So, if we didn’ t ask, we were in danger to skip our booked and payed tour!!! This is a real bad management and it could be a way to destroy our holliday in Feroe. I never encountered such a situation in none of my travels before, it is unbelievable. The agency should pay more attention when distributing the PAYED bookings to other local tour operatorii. They just “forgot” about our 4 adults payed tour on Mykines. Unbeliavable.

Tummas was a fantastic guide and this company is wonderful about communicating and trying to help – no small feat in the midst of a significant labor strike with resultant gasoline, food, supply shortage etc. mykines Ísland tour is fantastic and we were lucky to have dry weather. Thanks to our guide we learned a lot that enhanced our stay there as well.

A leisure hike taking in the fresh air and quietness of the island. Although a part of the island was closed, we were still able to spot puffins going about their activities disregarding presence of human visitors. Nice!

Unfortunately the tour was cancelled due to weather reasons, but Tummas and Borgfrið quickly found a plan B and we had a wonderful tour on Nólsoy Island. I had a spectacular hike in the mountains with stunning views. When you travel to the Faroe Islands you should know that everything depends on the weather, but even if a tour is cancelled they will always look for an option to be able to do it. I would like to thank Tummas and Borgfrið for a great day. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the walk with our guide and the sunny weather when visiting Mikenes.
My interest were the puffins only, so crossing the island wasn’t necessarily for us.
The lunch bagel was very dry, but enjoyed the apple and Belgian chocolates.
The puffins were fantastic to see, so nearby!

Excellent Tour to “Puffin Island”. Beautiful small hikes and seeing Puffins 😉 If you like Puffins, here you get the chance to see them the most and from close up. Also beautiful nature surroundings. Lunch was included and was okay. You get free water and a bagel with was for me ok.

A once in a lifetime trip through nature! Through this tour, one experiences mother nature at its best: the vastness of the ocean, the might of the waves, the power of water cutting through the hard cliffs, the gracefulness of a bird’s flight, the resilience of the Faroese people and their respect for the land! The boat ride is not for the faint hearted, the hike not for the weak but once you conquer all, it is most exhilarating! I lagged behind as I am not physically inclined; but my lovely guide, Anita, always kept a lookout for me. No pressure from her at all and I felt safe even in the vastness of the trail, in most foggy of weather only with the wind and puffins as ccompany. A must in every nature lover’s bucket list!

We are a family of 5 adults on this well known must do mykinnes island walk. The date was change to one day later to catch a perfect weather. The weather on that day was perfect as it forecasted and we was told that this is the first day that people in Faroe wear t shirt out to enjoy the sun. We have a great time and saw some puffins too. With a warmer weather the puffins are lesser according to the guide as many familiar usual places we do not see puffins and only till the end of the hike we managed to see. Still a trip worth going

Even though we didn’t get to do our 5.5hr tour, as the ferry company cancelled our return trip due to a local festival, we were very impressed with the service we received from Tummsa. Their guide did her best to try and reschedule our tour but this just wasn’t possible. Tummsa organised a refund for us promptly, which was much appreciated. This tour was a highlight of out time in Faroe and we were so disappointed to miss out, but cannot fault the service from our tour operator.

Due to bad weather our tour to Mykines Island was cancelled. However, instead of it, a tour to Northern Islands was proposed to us the following day, accompanied by our guide Borgfrið. She kindly picked us up from our accomodation in Tórshavn and we drove through the famous sub-sea tunnel that connects Klaksvík to Eysturoy Island. We stopped at Toftanes in Leirvík to see the ancient Viking Farm. Then we had an amazing hiking climbing the Klakkur Mountain Ridge, with spectacular views over Kalsoy and Kunoy islands. After the hiking we went to the village Viðareiði – the northernmost settlement in the Faroe Islands. Although it was raining a bit and windy we enjoyed this surreal place, with its church, cemetery and steep shorelines. Then we reached Kunoy village, saw the towering mountain wall, and had our packed lunch in the forest near the giant rock. The tour was great with our guide telling us many things about Faroese nature and culture. We are grateful for this!

We had a great trip with nice weather and a good Guide. It was a perfect day ashore. Coming in with a cruise ship I really recommend this tour. Perfectly organized and a good change away from the masses.
Galen and Sigrid –
Thank you to Tummas for organising our hike today! Our guides Óðin and Randi were terrific companions and taught us a lot about Faroese nature and culture. Despite a little rain, we were led on a route that was a good match for our schedule and fitness levels. We would heartily recommend a similar trip to anyone who wants to see Faroese landscape up close and safely.

I had a very nice hike and surprising sunny and hot day (16 Celsius ! :-)).
Thank you, Tummas !

Ros Hurn –

I booked 3 tours with Guide to Faroe Islands – but this one was really the best.
The island is sooooo beautiful and guide Tamas really perfect.
We did a lot of scenic stops, the weather was fine, I felt nearly in heaven…..

Everything was fantastic.
Suduroy is beautiful , especially SUMBA…which is have same name with the the beautiful island in my country, Indonesia.

Jorge Escobar –
This was one of the best tours I have ever had in the Faroe Islands. Tummas and Borgfrið were excellent guides and always cared about everyone and gave us lots of information. It is a long full-day tour and you get to see the whole island of Suðuroy. The weather this day was very windy and rainy, but we still had a great time. The only thing we couldn’t see was the bridge, but that was for safety reasons. I totally recommend this tour, it is one of the best things to do in the Faroe Islands.
Gracias Tummas y Borgfrið! Espero que nos volvamos a ver!
YP Lau –
Thanks to Thomas and Janus for my visit to Suðuroy Island. They are very helpful and responsive to all participants in rainy and windy weather. They try to find second hand shop for new clothings as some people get wet for walk in the rains. Very meticulous and kindful. Recommended.
Christine –
Kelly –
Our day trip to Suduroy will not be soon forgotten….breathtaking scenery and an informative guide who took great care of us.
He guided us on a hike up to the top of a cliff so we could walk across the famous wooden foot bridge for an exhilirating view and kindly took photos of us on the bridge. It was a bit of a challenge making it back down the mountain in the pouring rain but he made sure we were all safe. I highly recommend this tour!
J. Williams –
Rohit Bagchi –

It was wonderful thank you!!

Tummas was a fantastic tour guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved all parts of the tour from the ferry ride, to the hiking and sightseeing, to the delicious lunch of fish soup at Cafe Mormor. Highly recommend this tour!

Bardzo podobało się i mojej dziewczynie. Nasz przewodnik był bardzo miły i posiada ogromną widzę o Wyspach Owczych i krajach nordyckich, polecam!
Sarah Craig –
This was a wonderful trip my only comment would be that it’s marked as ‘easy’ and I wasn’t able to complete 2 of the hikes but having read the reviews I knew hikes were involved and was prepared to step back as needed. Tomas is a great guide I really recommend him and how much he cares about his tours. We saw so much despite the weather!!
Martin Neubert –
Lev –
Our tour was cancelled and instead we were rebooked to another cheaper tour. We liked the alternative but I give it 3 stars just for the bad customer service, it was practically impossible to opt out from the alternative tour and also impossible even to get a refund/difference between the tours. We liked the alternative cliff tour but everything that was before was bad. If you want to book it, make sure yourself that the ferry to Suðuroy is working otherwise your money will be gone…
Jack Liang –
Weather conditions at Kalsoy was bad, so tour was cancelled. Talked to the guide and we managed to arrange an alternative hike to both Dunnesdrangar and Bøsdalafossur, as weather on the south side was much better. Had a great time, guide was very experienced and knowledgeable about pretty much everything.
Roger –
Great trip with dramatic views and inspiring nature. We had a mixed group in a minibus with an active, engaging and very well informed guide Thomas/Tummas. Very enjoyable day.
Miranda Kerstens –
Jose Ranes –
Very nice experience !!! Our guide Barbara is just awesome , I had the best time and completely worth it! Recommend this tour if in FO.

The day was absolutely awesome. I‘ve had the lovliest guide, she was so friendly, open and she told me lots of interesting stories and facts.
The views were just breathtaking. Fully recommed that trip, it was perfect! Thank you for that extraordinary experience!

Fabulous day with trek to the lighthouse and picnic lunch. Anita was a knowledgeable and fun guide. Highly recommended.
Sophie Préteseille –
Teresa Alba Lupin –
This has to be my bravest thing I ever did, walking on cliffs with slippery grass without rails could be scary for those afraid of heights, and it is the safest to travel with an experienced guide than going on your own.
Great views takes great risk, that scenery above is taken on the cliff, so brace yourself
Gurbir Gosal –
Tanya Muscat –
After seeing many pictures of the Faroe Islands, this tour was a fantastic experience to be able to see these sights in person. My guide had great local knowledge of the area and gave interesting insights throughout as a Faroese person. The guide was professional and made the tour an engaging experience. The hike out to Trælanípa was excellent as was seeing the waterfall in Gasadalur, even with grey clouds the views were spectacular. The day was one of the highlights of the trip!
Bruce Ng –
This tour was just amazing! The tour guides were professional and knowledgeable. We got to see the beautiful waterfall and optical illusion lake. Also, there’re some surprises at the end of the tour. I appreciate that and I would say this is a must-do if you ever go to Faroe Islands!
Doreen Glismann –
I had a really awesome day! Eygin was a great, fantastic guide! He was very professional and knowledgeable. He had explain everything to me and got me a lot of insights about this magnificent island. I can really recommend this trip over the Island Vagar. I got to see the beautiful waterfall and a lot of other fascinating places and landscapes. Perfect! And thanks for that!

Fantastisk tur og flink og dygtig guide !
Vi vil klart anbefale denne tur.

This is the place that made me come to the Faroes and this tour is absolutely fantastic! The hike is fairly easy, a bit muddy and rocky at some points, but is really worth it. The views you get are out of this world. The guide is very nice and experienced, I would recommend this tour a million times!
Leticia –
Absolutely amazing! Our guide (Janus) was not an usual guide but he should be 🙂
The whether was incredible and the views breathtaking. Lovely people and we even got lunch, and I must say I was very very glad it was a plant bar one. So thankful for the consideration.
No cons, just pros ;D
Alan Rodgers –
Excellent day trip which combines an enjoyable hike with spectacular views of the Lake above the ocean with my personal favourite view Mulafossur. The opportunity to do the hike was a standout on this type of tour, generally easy to moderate. Our guide Rakul was brilliant as well.

This is one of the best tours I’ve been on – great hike, spectacular views, fabulous and knowledgeable guide who made a real effort to look after everyone and meet all our wants and needs. First class – no hesitation in recommending it.
Jennifer Thorne –
My guide, Tummas, was absolutely excellent! Would recommend him to anyone. The hike was terrific–we had great weather to see all of the sights.
Travis Chan –
This is a great starter walk or hike before you get into the tougher ones. Aside from the amazing scenery, you also get to learn more about the Faroese culture and technology, which can sometimes be misrepresented and misunderstood in the west.
Ev –
Amazing views and landscapes all along the coast.
My guide was as much sympathic as interesting.
U had a great day and would warmly recommand this Vagar tour.
Nikos –
A great day out with Tummas! A comfortable ride and an easy hike, so you get to actually enjoy your surroundings. The views are breathtaking and if you are as lucky as I was with the weather, you will take stunning pictures. Tummas is an excellent guide, knowledgeable, attentive, flexible and very pleasant to be with. I highly recommend both the tour and Tummas. Don’t miss this one!
Gustavo Jorquera –
A great tour. Since the beggining to the end. Beautiful places, espectacular views lo and the guide Tummas was a very important plus. Always worried about your safety and funny conversations.
Completely recomended.
Carina Vega –
Beautiful. Tummas was knowleadgeable and enjoyable guide. I would not hesitate to choose this company again for other excursions in the Faroe islands. Highly recommended.
Michael –
The fog was dense, it was drizzling and I was his only client on this day, but Tummas provided a conversationally entertaining and fact-filled tour as if it were a clear, sunny day with a carload of paying customers. Magically the fog lifted and I didn’t miss a thing. Thank you Tummas.
Sophie –
We had a great day and we were really lucky with the weather. Tummas was a great guide – I would recommend this tour to everyone!
James Macgregor –
Friendly guide who undertook the tour at a pace that meant the group stayed at each location for as long as we wanted. Each site visited was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Charlotte Krabbenhøft –
Super tur.
Fantastic little group of 5 people. Most talkes in english. Thomas brilliant guide. Plenty of time to take in the sights. Worth the payment. God lunch as well
Albert Feliciano –
Borfree (hope I spelled her name correctly) is the best ! Very knowledgeable, pleasant and friendly. Stopped at a couple of sights not included in the itinerary. Had lunch with a view of the Múlafossur Waterfall… way better than dining at a 5 star restaurant.
And the sun was out !
Marie –
Excellent tour and most scenic. It was a wonderful experience and weather was beautiful. Great lunch packed too!
SR –
Super randonnée, avec un guide intéressant et attentionné, et des vues à couper le souffle
Daniel –
Nice tour beatiful landscapes
Paul –
The payoff at the end of the hike out is totally worth it, unreal views, and if the weather is dry(ish) the hike is very easy that most people who can walk 7-8 km can do this with no issue.
LUIZ FELIPE CÔRTES –
Victoria –
Throughly enjoyed this tour! My guide was Tomas who showed me the lake above the ocean while we had a picnic lunch. He was happy to answer all my questions about the Faroese culture, politics, and history, which created a very informative tour.
Eva –
A really enjoyable tour with breathtaking views. Our guide, Anita told us very much about the islands. Small group, nice lunch and enough time to enjoy the beauty of nature. I absolutely recommend it.
Sim Bee Hia –
Absolutely stunning views! Weather was on my side today with the sun chasing away any fog. Long hike and the last portion of the climb was challenging. Our guide, Anita was simply fabulous. She explained every part of the hike, pointed out the views, paused for those who needed more time, pointed out the dangers, gave us time to really enjoy the out-of-this-world landscape, the art of mother nature. Gear up as some parts are rather steep. For the less fit, like me, I would rate the hike moderate in level of difficulty. A hike one must do or you cannot say you have been to the Faroe Islands!
Chloe –
Cristina –
Silvia D –
Patrick Hatch –
Five stars!
Lionel Johnson –
Carmen –
christiane bergeron –
We had an absolute blast with David! Such an incredible guy who has so much knowledge about the islands. It doesn’t feel like you on a tour, it just feels like your driving around the island with a friend. He’s also awesome for pulling over whenever you spot a good photo opt which I though was great
Andy Bernstein –
Ezequiel Adatto –
Anders Riise Koch –
David is an absolutely excellent guide. This tour was one of the best I’ve ever been on anywhere in the world. The tour takes you to most of the major sites in the Faroe Islands without ever feeling rushed. I would highly recommend this tour to any visitor to the Faroe Islands.
Erik Sølgaard –
My wife and I had a fantastic trip – Faroe Islands Highlights Tour – on Friday 29.03.2019. Sun, snow, little rain – Faroese weather, but no weather is bad weather! Pleasant and very competent guide! We had a great day in the Faroe Islands.
Sincerely
Bodil and Erik Sølgaard
Margaret –
Steffen Goelkel –
David was a fantastic guide, he was knowledgeable and a good person to explain all the sights and sounds and smells. We really enjoyed our time with him and heartily recommend him!!! Thank you David!!
Timothy McCormick –
Perfect guide !!!! Can’t wait to return !!!
Scott Reed –
Our tour with David was great, highly recommended! He gave us great insight into life in the Faroes. The day was one of the highlights of our trip
Katarina Jeraeus –
Simret Samra –
David was an excellent guide. I’m so happy that he was able to show me around on my last day in the Faroe Islands! It was lovely 🙂
Jude Owens –
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide. Great tour with stunning scenery!
Ash Syah Reza –
The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating to our requests. don’t let me say about the views. It was totally breathtaking and out of this world. You can’t get it anywhere else .it was very carefully plans and we got to see all the beautiful spots around the area we are going. If you need a tour in Faroe, this is the place to go
Ivana Lenardic –
I had a great time on our tour regardless of the weather which, however dull, I wasn’t even paying attention to because of all the scenery and nice things we got to see! 🙂 Tummas, our guide, was pleasant, easy going, very interesting and knowledgable. So glad I did the tour!
Peter morrison –
Harry was an exceptional tour guide, informative, flexible, nothing was a problem. One of the best tour experiences we have ever had and we travel a lot. Highly recommend the tour and the guide.
MATHILDE CUCCHI –
Great tour if you only have a limited time to spend in the Faroe Islands and would like to see as much as possible in one day. The guide was great, friendly and answering every question with plenty of details. Learned a lot about local life and saw plenty of nice spots! The included lunch was also appreciated 🙂 Absolutely recommending this tour.
Ninna Bengtsson –
An amazing trip with a really good guide! 🙂 Despite the not-so-pleasant weather it was an experience I won’t forget. Would recommend it to all!
/Ninna, journalist Sweden
Paul Kavanagh –
great tour, friendly informative guide, highly recommended!
Michael Willemse –
Good tour and overview of the islands.
Blanka Elekes Szentagotai –
Absolutely loved the tour!
David was kind enough to take me on the tour alone after other participants cancelled. He was really knowledgeable about the island, and didn’t mind answering lots of questions. We made many photos stops along the way and the packed lunch in Tjornuvik was fabulous.
Sven Trachsel –
We had a very nice day tour with a lot of nice stories which our guide David told us. The tour is very good organized and we recommend it to other people. It‘s a very nice tour to get a first impression about the history and most important sights of the Faroe Islands.
Regarding Covid19: we always felt save as there are just a very few cases on the island.
Klaus Peter Laube –
What a lovely tour! Our guide (David) was so nice and thoughtful. The weather wasn’t that great, but everything else met all the expectations.
Sofie Christensen –
This tour was simply awesome! Our tour guide David was wonderful and knew how to answer every single question we had. He knew every little bit about the Faroes and was great fun to drive around with.
I was lucky enough to go on this tour on a clear day, and all the views were simply amazing. This tour takes you to all the places you must see in the Faroes! Also, the provided lunch was delicious.
If I ever had the chance to visit the Faroes for the first time again, I would not hesitate on joining this tour once again. My sincerest recommendations!
Susanne Bech Jensen –
Fantastisk tur med en virkelig dygtig og behagelig guide

Karin Straume –
The tour was just fantastic and the guide was excellent!
Yijue Lloyd Liu –
I enjoyed my stay in Faroe Islands and also like the highlight tour. I will recommend it to any friend who is on a tight schedule and wants to see as many spots as possible in limited time. I had great conversation with our guide. Although I would like to point out the rate for the tour is definitely not cheap, but considering the general price for everything in Faroe Islands, it is still acceptable.
Keep up the good work!
I am sure I will come back to these beautiful islands soon.
Gerardo Lowisky –
I want to thank you for the good time that I spent with you.
The guide was great and the excursion better.
Thank you and see you soon.
Anita Köbler –
I’d highly recommend this tour if you only have a limited time to spend at the Faroes. You get so many beautiful places to see.
Tummas was a very friendly & informative guide. Also the vegetarian lunch was very delicious. Looking forward to come back to the islands one day.
Chuck bennett –
Tummas was wonderful and made us feel very comfortable for the day. His knowledge of the islands and it’s history made a great experience for our small group of 4. . I highly recommend this day tour it gave us great perspective and a sense of the islands and what to do the rest of the trip. Ask for Tummas he’s a great guide!! 5 stars Tummas thank you for a great day.
Jill Melkonian –
Excellent. Aside from being a great guide, he had a lot of Faroe knowledge….I even enjoyed the myths.
And, he was very kind & considerate. The guide was helpful with the icy paths we needed to traverse.
Helle Qvortrup –
Perfekt trip – perfekt guide 🙂
CHRISTINE VON HÖRDE –
It was great, thanks a lot!
Marina Ozerov –
It was very good tour.
Many thanks
Eva Rasmussen –
Magnus Malmgren –
Great day. Superb service and guide. We we were extremely lucky with the weather as well. But if I could give six stars I would
Kate Crawford –

Sabine Drieskens –
Nice tour with a small group (just us and another couple), Simon was a good guide, we had fun. We have visited some beautiful places were we couldn’t get by public transportation. Tasty lunch at a idyllic place. Besides, we were very lucky with the sunny weather.
Mason Huberty –
Very well done. They have a very good setup here, very enjoyable.
Jean-Marc Heinicke –
The tour with Thomass was very interesting and a great add-on to my 5 days of hiking.
He is a great driver and excellent guide sharing lots of fascinating information.
Edmond Etlinger –
It was a very pleasant tour with Borgfrið, who has a great knowledge about her home, and she told us many interesting stories and facts. The places which we visited are breathtakingly beautiful – as is almost everything on the Faroe Islands. I really recommend this tour because it takes you to places which otherwise are hard to get by.
Anna Means –
Guide was great: personable, informative. Good introduction to the area. Wonderful time even though the weather was a bit inclement.
Argyro Galani –
Excellent guide. The tour was amazing. 5 stars!!!!
Mary Clements –
Tummas gave me an excellent Top Rated Faroe Islands Highlight tour. The spectacular scenery is mesmerizing while Tummas shares the history of the land and sea, the Faroese and how the villages continue to support residents. I learned so much about the raising of sheep in the Faroe Islands from Tummas; each answer prompted more questions followed by Tummas’s answers.
If you are limited on days for touring this tour gives an excellent overview of living on the Faroe Islands.
Thank you Tummas.
Corina –
Excellent tour in beautiful places. Our driver Hella was great. She adapted very well to the specificity of our group.
Jen and Alf –
Thomas was a personable and knowledgeable guide and a very good driver.
Mat –
Great tour !
There was a little misunderstanding in the beginning about the pick up time but other than that Tummas was a great guide. He knows a lot about the Faroe Islands and always had some stories for us since this tour had a mix of visit of historical sites and beautiful landscapes.
We were only 2 so it was very chill, the pack lunch was top and we even met some of Tummas’ sheep’s on the was back.
Monika Skoczylas –
Dear Faroe islands tour,
It was a fantastic tour and a great guide – we saw some beautiful places and the Lunch box was fantastic!! especially the sandwich. The guide was helpful, patient, knowledgeable and funny. It was good to meet a real Faroe Islander farmer and he educated about life & work in the islands.
I especially liked the visit to St Olav’s Church.
We really hope we can both visit again.
Alfredo Mortensen –
Everything was excellent
The condition of the vehicles was Excellent
Our guide was so nice that she did an effort on speaking spanish with my mom who doesnt speak english
They knew everything about locations animals etc
The lunch was really good
Highly recommended
Máté Bella –
Hi,
Our Guide Tour (2024/06/23 9PM) was amazing, and we saw great places and beautiful landscapes.
Roger Garrett –
My firsr trip around Færøerne. Small group in a minibus with a very engaged and interactive photographer guide (sorry, couldn’t spell the Faroisk name). All the historical, cultural, political, local language and geological information passed on exceeded all my expectations, and the landscapes and views were most impressive; beautiful and dramatic and memorable (even at my old age) 🙂
Dee –
We loved this trip with Anita as our guide. Comfortable transport, great lunch and good coverage of Faroe highlights. Good local information. Anita is softly spoken so a mic in the van could have been helpful.
Helmut –
Super tour to see the highlights of the Faeroer Islands
Dimitar Georgiev –
the tour was great, the tour guide – outstanding, the nature- amazing, thank You
Wing Yin –
Wonderful time though the weather wasn’t perfect. Great insights and interactions with our guide! Tasty lunchbox and fantastic lunch spot with breathtaking cliff view! The walk along the coast was simply beautiful. Loving it all! Very enjoyable day out!
Flor del Rocio –
Tummas is a great host, his knowledge about the islands helped you learn more about them, with what you learn from him you can start moving by yourself thru the Island, the visited points were impressive.
Susan Browning –
Lisa –
Great Tour!
Sum –
Joined on 19aug but due to car arranging problem that delay 1hour but no problem that staff notified me before and finally so lucky to met a very nice tour guide(sorry forgot his name) and he was so informative and talkable. We were so enjoy whole tour and knew many faroe island’s history and daily lives etc…the tour ifself coverage all but since so worse weather and heavy rain most of time. The guide drove us a bit more place after weather seem a bit better at last 1-1.5hours that totally more than 6hours and so thanks for his kind and consideration. Great tour
Sabrina –
This was an excellent tour for a day visit on the Faroe Islands. Pick up at the cruise ship in Runavik was no problem. We saw many beautiful places and learned a lot about the history and the life on the islands. Our guide was Janus.
On the stops we had plenty of time to walk around and take phototgraphs. Lunch was tasty.
The only downside was the car. We were 4 guests and in a regular car it was quite cramped on the backseat. But the tour was so great we didn’t really care and I can only recommend the tour if you have not much time and want to see a lot of the beautiful landscapes and villages.
Sandra L Teach –
We had an excellent guide for the Highlights of the Faroe Islands. Informative, well paced and covered beautiful and historic areas.
Viktor –
very nice and interesting tour. top guide from the island, thank you very much 😊
Zachary Shufro –
Tummas and Janus were wonderful tour guides, and we had an excellent day (and even got some sunshine)! This was probably my favorite tour I’ve taken in my week here in Torshavn.
Jumanah Abdullah –
I recently had the pleasure of taking a 6-hour tour of the Faroe Islands, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Tomas, was exceptionally knowledgeable, accommodating, and passionate about the islands. He made the tour engaging by sharing fascinating insights about the history, culture, and natural beauty of the Faroe Islands. Tomas’ warmth and enthusiasm created a great atmosphere throughout the day, making it easy to connect with the group and appreciate the stunning surroundings. We visited several breathtaking spots, each more incredible than the last, and Tomas took the time to explain what made each place unique. His attention to detail and willingness to answer all our questions made the tour even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the Faroe Islands with a guide who truly brings the experience to life. Truly a highlight of my trip!
Rok Rakusa –
Celso –
Had an amazing time on this tour! Our guide was super friendly and really attentive, always making sure everyone was having a good time. He shared a bunch of interesting facts and stories about the Faroe Islands that I had no idea about, which made the whole experience even cooler. You can tell he genuinely loves the place. Definitely recommend if you want to see the islands with someone who knows their stuff and makes it fun!
Cathrine Guttormsen –
I travelled alone but we were five people on the guided tour. Our tour guide Thomas was great company, funny and provided loads of interesting information about the islands as well as answering all of your questions. We had all types of weather on this trip and the weather really didn’t matter, this was a great tour regardless. Highly recommended
Alana –
Annfinn was an excellent tour guide. He was so knowledgeable, took us to the most beautiful places, and gave us lots of time to take pictures and enjoy the view. I did not rent a car so this tour was the perfect way to still see lots of sights. The beach in Tjørnuvík and also Fossá waterfall were my favorite spots. Thank you for such a great tour!
Dave –
I really enjoyed the tour of the islands, Tummas the guide was excellent and attentive. Learnt lots and feel that i maximised my time in the islands by taking a full tour.
Sim Bee Hia –
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Culturally and historically rich. Delicious fish and chip for lunch! Fascinating! An easy tour to move around and get to know Faroes!
Jessica Friedman –
Anita gave us a lovely tour of Stremoy and part of Esturoy. Her English is perfect. She told us stories about the history of all the places we visited and gave us plenty of time to explore each place on our own. While my husband and I were sitting in the front seat, she also told us about different aspects of the social life in the Faroe Islands. When it turned out that the tour had not provided any lunch items for people who don’t eat meat or chicken, she graciously traded me and another person her own salted cod for our boxed lunch. And when we were on our way home, and I asked if we could just quickly see Hoyvik, she took us there.
Dolly –
An outstanding day with a phenomenal guide, who shared the rich historic and cultural traditions of the islands, relating to both the Faroe Islands themselves, as well as their role both in European and world communities.
Henk –
This was just such a wonderfull day. Our guide had a lot of knowledge about just everything and shared stories with us while driving us around the islands. I highly recommend this tour and enjoy the beautiful landscape. And a special thank you for our guide and driver.
Vanessa –
Our guide Anita led us on the top-rated Faroe Islands Highlights Tour through Streymoy and Eysturoy. We followed much of the scenic Buttercup Routes, which offered breathtaking views throughout. I especially enjoyed the stunning waterfalls and charming small villages. The tour was very well organized, and I loved the itinerary. Anita’s cheeky and cheerful personality brought a refreshing energy to the experience and turned it into an unforgettable memory. This tour is highly recommended! Thank you, Anita!
Sophie –
Great tour! Anita was a wonderful guide.
Cristina –

We had a fantastic tour with Anita. What a wonderful day and a wonderful guide.
LAURA ORESTANO –
We loved Faroe Islands Highlights Tour and all the sites we visited.
Borgfrið, our guide, has been amazing. Caring, entertaining, telling us all the possible stories and absolutely kind. Not to mention her beautiful voice that left everyone mesmerized.
We are really grateful to her for this experience.
David Sartwell –
The guide was wonderful. She took us to many out-of-the-way places that were right out of a photo book. The stop for the waffles, her entertaining us with her guitar and singing, were truly terrifc. She was informative, cheerful, and very pleasant. The van, however, was not designed to take eight people comfortably. Six would have been good, but eight was very awkward and cramped. Five stars for the tour and tourguide. One star for the van.
Penny Stewart –
We had SUCH a good day with our very personal guide on this tour which really did focus on highlights from south to north. Not only were we able to experience some of the things we had read about but also had many questions answered by our guide who was exceptionally well informed and provided some very interesting statistics. Our trip would not have been complete without this wonderful day. Thank you!
John Campbell –
Anita gave a great tour! Despite the bad weather we still managed to see some amazing sights and scenery, with sunshine at times. The picnic lunch was a surprise and very satisfying. Anita’s knowledge of history and local stories was greatly appreciated, plus her humour very fulfilling. And punctual to boot!
Chris Weavers –
This tour was excellent and the guide was knowledgable, engaging and friendly. This was a brilliant way to see the highlights of. Streymoy and Eysturoy and I would thoroughly recommend!
Patrick Andrews –
Our guide Anita was excellent , she is a great ambassador for the Faroe Islands, friendly & knowledgeable.
I would highly recommend this small group tour.
Marianne Wulff –
Tak for en dejlig tur rundt på Færøerne! Vi er yderst tilfredse med vores guide Tomas som formidlede sin kunskap om såvel natur, dagligliv, kultur, politik og meget meget mere! Tak!

It was a fabulous tour! Thank you so much!

We’re so glad we booked this tour. Our driver/guide, whose name escapes me, was fabulous throughout. You expect fantastic scenery here, but the level of service we got was just as good. There were no downsides to this wonderful day out, and we’d certainly book another tour with Guide to The Faroe Islands again. Even lunch was good!
Sarah –
What a wonderful tour, Tummas was a lovely tour guide! We learned about the history of the Faroe Islands and saw some amazing things!
AIKATERINI POLYCHRONI –
Anita Schoemaker –
The tour was excellent. The tour guide is very nice and it is great that you did not walk the steap slope.
Sarah Pedersen –
I had the most amazing trip! The team was very helpful and accommodating and the trip leader even helped me find the best place on the boat to stand (as I tend to get quite sea-sick…but I didn’t on this trip)! The island was absolutely beautiful and I saw more puffins than I ever thought I’d see in my lifetime. We had a beautiful hike, a nice lunch and views that I will never forget. Thank you for such an incredible experience.
John Walke –
Great day trip our guide Tummas was very friendly and a great guide. The hike itself was quite tiring but the views and being surrounded by puffins made it worthwhile! Highly recommend this tour which was well worth the money.
Andrew Knight –
Just a quick note to say thank you for organizing & hosting our trip to Mykines.
Regards
Andrew Knight

Our guide was excellent. We enjoyed a long hike and had great views. The weather was incredibly clear and sunny and this contributed to make the day amazing.
Lena Lauridsen –
We had the most wonderful tour with Tummas to Mykines. Wonderful weather, stunning nature and lots of puffins and other birds. We were so lucky that our group only was our family and Tummas and he was an excellent guide showing the hidden gems of the Island, telling the stories – a pleasure to be with. Best regards, the Lauridsen Family
Signe Thorlaksen –

Our stay in the Faroe Islands was spectacular! The landscape is breathtaking and the food and culture are also incredible. I don’t even know where to begin. It was so impactful to learn about the history of the Faroe Islands and get a glimpse into the lives of those who live there today. All of this would not have been possible without Tummas. We are so grateful for the bespoke experiences he created for us.
Luke –
Having everything arranged was a great way to see Mykines, I’d encourage anyone thinking of heading out there to do it this way
Maria Paola Calasso –
The tour was super nice, we saw a lot of puffins and the guide was very good.
Rehana Anait –
Today was fantastic on Mykines !
Lise Aissen –
I concur with Luke’s comments on June 9. My review comes late due to unforeseen circumstances. This tour is run by the Heimdals; very efficient and flexible in terms of clients’ requirements. The groups are small which makes it all the more pleasant. As a travel agent of many years I highly recommend this tour and tour operator.
Hauke Hilz –
We had a fantastic day on Mykines! A beautiful hike with a lot of puffins to see. Our guide was great. Very friendly and competent. Thanks again for a great day!
Margaret Neyland –

Lukasz –
Great experience, our guide was very nice and knowledgeable, views unforgettable, two thumbs up
Melissa –
Hervør was AMAZING! She was our guide and also happens to have a summer home on the island, so she’s incredibly knowledgable about all things Mykines. She even made us lunch including her own hand-smoked salmon and sausage; delicious! Hervør was thoughtful about the athletic abilities of our group when considering which route to take up to the puffins. Would highly recommend this tour group as they are muuuch smaller (five people in our group) compared to the larger companies (50+ people).
Christian –
Great tour. As you need a guide to visit the island do we recommend to book a tour – the island is protected and you cannot walk around on your own. The other people who booked the ferry alone were hearded in a big group to the puffin colony. We enjoyed our walk and got to see more of the island.
Florescu Simin –

Ronnie –
A leisure hike taking in the fresh air and quietness of the island. Although a part of the island was closed, we were still able to spot puffins going about their activities disregarding presence of human visitors. Nice!
Jorge Escobar –
Unfortunately the tour was cancelled due to weather reasons, but Tummas and Borgfrið quickly found a plan B and we had a wonderful tour on Nólsoy Island. I had a spectacular hike in the mountains with stunning views. When you travel to the Faroe Islands you should know that everything depends on the weather, but even if a tour is cancelled they will always look for an option to be able to do it. I would like to thank Tummas and Borgfrið for a great day. Highly recommended.
Christy Beal –
Wonderful day, despite the fog. We saw many puffins and enjoyed a nice walk up to the cliff and back. I had not expected to be able to be so close to the birds, The packed lunch that was provided was delicious. Highly recommend this tour.
Renata Hanotova –
I enjoyed very much this tour on beautiful Mykines. Several hours walking, lovely lunchbox with stunning views and finally thousands of Puffins to admire at the end of the tour! It was a great day! Highly recommended!
Muriel –
We enjoyed the walk with our guide and the sunny weather when visiting Mikenes.
My interest were the puffins only, so crossing the island wasn’t necessarily for us.
The lunch bagel was very dry, but enjoyed the apple and Belgian chocolates.
The puffins were fantastic to see, so nearby!
Rohit Bagchi –
Excellent Tour to “Puffin Island”. Beautiful small hikes and seeing Puffins 😉 If you like Puffins, here you get the chance to see them the most and from close up. Also beautiful nature surroundings. Lunch was included and was okay. You get free water and a bagel with was for me ok.
Christophe –
Everything was as advertised. Great day, I would recommend this tour.
Ingrid –
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Mykines and the puffins did not disappoint!
It was very foggy but our guide, Anita, made sure we got to see as many as possible.
We appreciated the excellent touring and the beautiful landscape!!
Sim Bee Hia –
Kristyna –
The best experience we had in the Faroe Islands. The guide (I think Thomas) was very nice!
Vélou –
Very exciting day with a littéralement group.
Beautiful vews and walk in the natur without too much people.
The guide was very kind and carefull.
Marielle –
We had a perfect day on Mykines thanks to good weather and a fantastic guide. The boatride can be a little rough if it’s windy but the captain was a real pro handling the ship into the narrow harbour at Mykines. Recommend!
LEE JENN MING (MICHAEL) –
