Explore some of the most beautiful spots in the Faroe Islands. You will visit the picturesque village Saksun with the famous lagoon, waterfalls and church.

You will also explore the remote village of Tjørnuvík and the stunning village Gjógv besides visiting the ancient and historic settlement of Kirkjubøur. These villages are all "must see" highlights of the Faroe Islands.

Kirkjubøur is the southernmost village on Streymoy and the historical hub in the Faroe Islands with the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral from around 1300, the Saint Olav's Church from 12th century and the old farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður from 11th century, which is still occupied by the same family for 17 generations.

When you head to the beautiful village of Saksun you will see the natural amphitheatre of cliffs and stunning nature. There is an enchanting tidal lagoon here. During low tides it is also possible to walk along the sandy beach to the ocean.

After exploring Saksun, your next stop is the village of Tjørnuvík. This is the most northerly village on Streymoy Island and a popular destination among travellers.

You will stop by the impressive waterfall Víkafossur also known as Fossá Waterfall en route to Tjørnuvík. Fossá is the tallest waterfall with a 140-metre cascade in two levels. This is your he chance to stand only few metres away from this natural wonder.

Tjørnuvík has one of the oldest Viking burial grounds where you can see the original burial stones. Enjoy your packed lunch whilst admiring the view of the famous "Giant and the Witch" rock formations on the headland. Your tour guide will tell you the legend behind the rocks.

You will then take the stunning drive up and past the highest point on the Faroe Islands and descending into the beautiful and picturesque village of Gjógv. Here you may also get the opportunity to take coffee and cake with the locals.

You will take the scenic route back to the capital Tórshavn via the brand new 11km long sub-sea tunnel and witness the world's first and most beautiful sub-sea traffic roundabout. The "Jellyfish" traffic island is now a feature with a world class stained glass and and light installation that is truly spectacular to behold!, with plenty of photo opportunities on the way. Your tour guide will regale you with some more of the legends and myths that abound in this magical country.

Tummas gave me an excellent Top Rated Faroe Islands Highlight tour. The spectacular scenery is mesmerizing while Tummas shares the history of the land and sea, the Faroese and how the villages continue to support residents. I learned so much about the raising of sheep in the Faroe Islands from Tummas; each answer prompted more questions followed by Tummas’s answers.
If you are limited on days for touring this tour gives an excellent overview of living on the Faroe Islands.
    Thank you Tummas.
