    Hello, we had again a great day with Elsa Maria. It was our second stay on the spectular Islands. This time we explored Sandoy Island – through the new tunnel and than really the whole Island with a very tasty lunch with very friendly hosts.
    We have learnt a lot of historie and heard Stories about living. Thank you and we will be back😀

    Greatly enjoyed seeing the hidden spots and learning about so much local history. The engineering of the new tunnel was a marvel. Being invited into someone’s home for a home-cooked Faroese meal and chatting with the host and spouse over lunch made the day extra special. Glad I made the trip to scenic Sandoy .

    This was a fantastic day tour of Sandoy. Our guide, Jens Petur, was so knowledgeable about Faroese history, culture, economics, religion, etc. and really made it all come alive as we visited ancient Viking settlements and current villages throughout the island. A highlight for our family was the heimablidni. Our hostess, Helga and her husband, warmly invited us into their home where we were treated to a delicious traditional Faroese meal.
    On this tour, be prepared to see beautiful ocean vistas, sand beaches, ancient ruins and tidy villages. It is a 5+ star tour!

    The Sandoy is an untouched and unspoiled island with a true Viking vibe all around. The tour of the picturesque coastal villages offered a very special counterbalance to the landscapes of the northern islands and included a unique opportunity to experience the local hospitality or the “heimablídni” over a delicious meal in a family home. The view from one of the beaches as the fog suddenly lifted revealing the smooth waters and a small ferry on its way to the neighboring island was magical.

    My husband and I went on the Sandoy Full Day tour on June 11, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to the Faroe Islands. We highly recommend this trip to Sandoy Island, as it gives you a comprehensive view of the island. Our guide, Jens Petur, was a many-generational Faroe Islander who was extremely knowledgeable about the history and about what we should see and do. Included was a memorable lunch in the home of a local couple with home prepared food that is typical of Faroe Islands. This was a unique experience that most tourists are not able to experience and made this particular tour very special. The Lang’s – California, USA

    Great day with Jens Petur who made an impressive effort to make the tour as interesting and enjoyable as possible. Sandoy was different from the more northerly islands I’d seen in that the mountain slopes were less steep and the opportunities for farming were greater. Lots of stories concerning the cultural and social history of the island and great views, especially of the surrounding islands. The whole trip was a pleasure.

The lunch with a local couple, Budwar and Helga, was fantastic. They were very hospitable and typical of the friendliness of the Faroese people. I highly recommend this tour.

    It is a very interesting tour, visiting ancient and traditional parts of the island. The lunch in the house of the Faroese family, with home made products adds intimacy and authenticity to the trip. Elsa Maria was a wonderful guide, energetic, very professional, well informed, kind, generous. Her presence and personality mixed with the richness of the tour, covering landscapes, unique places, tradition, history, makes this day tour outstanding.     I could look around at all the sites without having to watch the road if I was self-driving. The running commentary from a true local completed the tour for me – if I did the sights myself with a self-driving tour, I would have missed out on so much valuable information to do with history, traditions and cultural aspects of the sites and villages.

    Elsa and her brother are very personable tour guides without becoming overwhelming in delivering a lot of facts and stories. A good guide really makes the tour special, and I have come away with lasting good memories of Faroe.

    Our guide, Elsa Maria, was absolutely fantastic warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. She shared a lot of historical information but what made it special was her funny and captivating way of telling stories. We were laughing, learning, and enjoying every moment.

    Truly outstanding! Wonderful day tour with Elsa-Marie who was very kind and very knowledgeable- she clearly loves her home and is happy to share that with others. A small group tour that hits a lot of gorgeous places that would be pretty difficult to fit in while traveling solo or without a car. Even if the weather is less than ideal (be ready for it!) I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

    Of the nearly 600 reviews, this tour has a perfect 5 out of 5 score! There’s a reason for this. The tour is EXCELLENT! An absolute MUST DO! Our guide Elsa-Marie took us to all the must see places. She showed us waterfall after waterfall, stopped for us to mingle with the sheep and the geese, and kept us entertained with stories of the islands, the traditions, and the people who live here. (Including personal anecdotes from her own family who has been here since the 1400s!) I had an injured leg and she made sure I was still able to see everything. She knew my daughter wanted to pet some sheep, so she went out of her way to bring us to a small farm where she could feed them. Not to mention she came with coffee, tea, flat and sparkling water, and a plethora of snacks. This was the highlight of our week in the Faroe Islands. Thank you so much Elsa-Marie!

    Seriously, TAKE THIS TOUR! We had Peter as our guide and we absolutely loved the way he mixed humor and history together to really give us a deeper insight into the way of life in Føroyar. He was so informative and friendly. He answered every question we threw at him! The sights we were able to see on this tour were sights we wouldn’t have been able to on our own. This tour was a highlight of our trip and we could not be happier with Peter and Elsa Maria- whom we communicated with often beforehand.

    Jens Petur was the BESTTTT !!!! We saw so so much and learned so so much on our 7-hour tour of the islands.     12th Oct 2024 was a special day to me, it was the day I was officially graduating with my MBA. Instead of travelling back to Kenya, I decided to graduate in absentia and experience the Faroe Islands instead. It just so happens that it was the same day I got to join your ‘7 hour see it all’ tour.

    I have travelled the world and been with many tour guides but Jens outshines them all. First thing I noticed on the morning of the trip was that he had already mastered our names and referred to each of us by name effortlessly throughout the trip. This is no easy feat and I found that remarkable. He was definitely very knowledgeable and took time to explain the history of every location we passed by, giving a short hilarious folktale about the people there, making the experience very immersive, memorable and enjoyable. I liked that he also guided me on locations where I could pilot my drone as the droning policies have become quite strict in the Faroes. To top it off, my favourite moment was when he let us taste Faroese specialities.

    Thank you to Jens and the rest of the team for making my trip to the Faroe Islands extremely memorable and special. Definitely worth every dime.

    I am glad that I took this day trip on the next morning that I arrived on Faroe Islands on 20 Nov. My advice is to schedule as early as possible such day trips so you get to have a feel of the place.
    Elsa Maria was fantastic as our tour guide of the day and the pace was just nice. We get to relax and take in the beautiful sights. She is also very thoughtful in providing extra warm clothing in the car just in case ours is not enough to shield from the cold weather. She is informative, authentic and fun throughout. When weather turns for the worse after lunch, Elsa took a decisive decision to cut short our trip so as to bring us back safely to our hotel. Safety is very important when we travel and you can really depend on Elsa and the local people who knows their weather best! What a memorable day trip in Faroe Islands!

    Elsa Maria is an absolutely fantastic tour guide. There were just three of us on the tour as its low season but this only added to the experience and it felt like we all got to know each other. We saw countless beautiful sights and Elsa told us so much about Faroese history and culture. She told us stories about her own family and we gained even more admiration for the strength and resilience of the Faroese people. Having a Faroese guide like Elsa feels essential for this kind of experience. She’s rightfully proud of her heritage and extremely knowledgeable about all three islands we visited (and beyond!)

    Her enthusiasm and love for the Faroes are infectious. I’ve dreamed of visiting the Faroes since I was 18 and got to celebrate my 26th birthday here. A true dream come true and Elsa’s tour was a clear highlight of our trip. You couldn’t do this tour yourself with a car and map- you need someone as passionate and knowledgeable as Elsa or you’d miss so much.

    We made loads of little stops to see remarkable sights and small villages. The stories Elsa had to tell about these tiny villages- often with populations of under 20 people- were incredible. We really felt like we got to experience Faroese culture. As a historian, I especially loved learning so much about the history of this amazing cluster of islands and the ‘microhistory’ of the small communities we stopped at or passed through.

    Elsa also took pictures when we stopped and sent us an email with her pictures- much better than ours (she knows what she’s doing to get the best angles) The weather was quite rough, but we expected this on the Faroes and being from South-West England (right next to Wales), we’re used to the phrase ‘If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes’. Nonetheless, Elsa also sent us pictures from a tour she conducted on a sunny, clear day- a lovely addition and great to see what the Faroes look like in full summer bloom.
    Additionally, Elsa took pictures of us in front of beauty spots and they turned out amazing!

    We also had plenty of opportunities to stop for toilet breaks and a stop for lunch. We didn’t feel rushed at all as I have on many tours.

    Elsa truly went above and beyond. I’ve travelled quite widely and been on many guided excursions- Elsa is my favourite tour guide of all time. This is an absolute must-do trip and I couldn’t recommend it more. Thanks so much Elsa 🙂 We already can’t wait to return.

    An Unforgettable Faroe Islands Experience with Peter – The Perfect Guide!

    The trip to the Faroe Islands was nothing short of magical, and much of that is thanks to our incredible guide, Peter. Delightful, insightful, and passionate, Peter brought the islands to life with his deep knowledge, engaging stories, and warm personality. He truly is the very best.

    Thanks to Peter, we were able to explore the most breathtaking sights across the islands. From the charming village of Bøur and the dramatic cliffs of Gásadalur with the iconic Múlafossur Waterfall, to the majestic Fossá Waterfall and the mystical sea stacks of Risin & Kellingin, every stop felt like stepping into a dream.

    We got to pitstop through the quiet beauty of Saksun, soaked in the coastal charm of Gjógv, and stood in awe at the views from Tjørnuvík. Exploring Streymoy, Eysturoy, and Vágar Islands, as well as the scenic drive along Oyggjarvegurin, was made even more special by Peter’s thoughtful commentary and attention to detail. Peter put stopped us for lunch at a great spot called Fiskastykkið // Úti á Gjógv. Amazing delicious food, prepared fresh.

    If you’re planning a trip to the Faroe Islands, I cannot recommend Peter highly enough. He turned an already stunning destination into a truly unforgettable adventure.

    A must tour when in Faroe either on short or long visit! Plenty of stops (coffee and sweets offered as well as some tasteful surprises plus time to enjoy a meal), lots of places to see and admire (either well known and some only local known), different kinds of weather en route but that’s the spice of it along with the excellent story narratives! Sometimes can last a little bit more than 7 hours, but it is worthwhile!

    Elsa Maria’s tour was excellent. Really comprehensive visit of Eysturoy, Streymoy and Vagar, with many stops in beautiful villages and viewpoints. Elsa Maria was very knowledgeable, flexible and even offered us some hot drinks and snacks. Also she provides pick up from every acommodation and the tour lasted even longer than expected (around 8 hours in our case). Overall, totally recommended to do the tour with her, which has a fantastic price/quality ratio for the Faroes.

    100% recommend! Look no further; just book this tour! Elsa is very knowledgeable about the local history and culture, and she will take you out even though you are the only participant of the tour or the weather is not nice. The itinerary is well structured and covers a couple of classic tourist spots that are not easily accessible with buses (still feasible to some extent but is very time consuming), and the restaurant we stopped by is very authentic and full of historic vibe. I really enjoy my time during this tour, whether it’s the scenery itself or my talk with Elsa. In short, if you want to explore these small villages as much as possible with limited time, this tour will be the right choice for you.

    I can definitely see why this is billed as the “see everything” tour (although I do recommend anyone looking to truly “see everything” also get to the Northern Isles, if possible!). This trip packed so much into 7 hours – from fairytale landscapes and waterfalls to the “fog valley” to incredible cultural history at beautiful ~300+ year old farms and churches. Elsa Maria was an incredible guide – so knowledgeable, so willing to share her stories and experiences, and pointed out several places where her own family had lived and worked across our itinerary. She was also very knowledgeable about the floral / fauna. She made sure everyone had water, tea / coffee / had extra sweaters for folks in the group who hadn’t dressed warmly enough, etc. Extremely thoughtful and caring guide and I wish I had more time in the Faroes to explore some of the sights we visited in more depth.

    One suggestion though, a shopping stop so souvenirs could be gathered please.
    Us cruise ship participants left our ship as soon as the gangplank dropped and we got back 10 minutes before curfew, hence no other chance to visit the shops.

    This tour promised that you would “see it all” and it did not disappoint. Jens Petur shares his love and knowledge of the Faroe Islands with you as he drives you around 11 of the 18 Islands that make up the Faroes. We went through tunnels, visited small villages, saw beautiful waterfalls, all while being entertained with Jens Petur’s stories about this magical place. We were a group of eight and traveled. Comfortably in his van. Snacks and plenty of restroom stops were provided. For lunch, we were taken to a local restaurant that had the best seafood soup. It’s an all day trip, but we did not feel rushed and were brought back to our cruise ship right on time. For a fantastic overview of the Faroes, I can highly recommend this tour. You really do see it all and it is all fantastic!!

She changed the course for us to see things until the weather clears up a little. Later we took a hike to Lake Leitensvatn. Thanks to Maria to take me to Cliff again on my request to see the illusion when the clouds cleared. We were not adequately prepared for the hike and Elsa Maria brought us hiking boots to ensure that we would be able to truly enjoy and experience the hike safely. We got lucky and had musicians play incredible music in the restaurants!

    In the afternoon, we ventured to the remote and picturesque village of Gásadalur. The sight of Múlafossur Waterfall cascading down with the charming village in the backdrop was as iconic as it gets. Elsa’s tips on the best angles for photos ensured I got the perfect shot to remember this special moment. We even get to see Puffins!

    Outstanding tour! Our tour guide, Elsa Maria, provided a unique experience of 3 of the Northern most Islands: Kunoy,
    Bordoy and Vidoy.
    We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel which was nice, since we didn’t rent a car. The car we rode in was comfortable. Coffee, water and various snacks were provided throughout the trip. We stopped for lunch at a nice cafe in Klaksvík. Elsa Maria also took photos along the way to document the trip and sent a link with the photos after the tour. We never felt rushed and saw a variety of sites. Elsa Maria we very knowledgeable and provided a local’s insight on the different areas and on the Faroe Islands. We highly recommend this tour.

    Excelente tour
    Pudimos recorrer las islas que están más al norte, bonitas vistas de acantilados y el océano atlántico, pese a que nos tocó un día con mucha lluvia, viento y neblina, pudimos ver muchos lugares. Nuestra guía, Elsa Maria, es excelente, muy buena conductora, simpática y graciosa, nos mantuvo entretenidos durante las 7 horas. El tour igual incluye almuerzo.

    This is my 2nd day trip booked with Elsa Maria on 22 Nov and it was awesome! Don’t regret as the scenery is different from the first. Definitely recommended as every part of Faroe Island is unique on its own!

    I loved this tour. The northern islands are gorgeous (and the weather the day of our tour was perfect) and our guide Jens Petur was so kind and knowledgeable. We stopped at a great spot for lunch (or cake in my case) and saw so many wonderful things. It really was such a great first full day in the Faroe Islands for me. 100% recommended!

    A must tour when in Faroe either on short or long visit! Plenty of stops (coffee and sweets offered as well as some tasteful surprises plus time to enjoy a meal), lots of places to see and admire (either well known and some only local known), different kinds of weather en route but that’s the spice of it along with the excellent story narratives! Sometimes can last a little bit more than 7 hours, but it is worthwhile!

    This was my second tour with Elsa and she did not disappoint at all. Again, I was fortunate to be the only guest for the day so it was really nice to spend the day with her. The Northern islands are really breath-taking and photos just cannot capture the beauty adequately. You need to be there to take the sights all in to appreciate the stunning landscapes. As my previous positive feedback, Elsa took a lot of photos to document the trip and share the link with me after for memories. She is always engaging, patient and very accommodating. This is a highly recommended tour.

    Weather was not on our side but nothing was too difficult for Elsa. She is quick, dynamic and energetic. She adjusts quickly, keeps everybody in the loop and makes the best of time. Elsa takes care and looks out for everyone. We had a 90 yr old gentleman from Utah, US and a 88 yr old lady from Norway. Nothing fazed her. Very charming and loving, stopping by to find out more about a sick horse by the road, letting me see the daily community tourists seldom witness. Very knowledgeable and she has the skills of a race car driver – fast, sharp, safe!

    A great day with Jens as our guide – he told us so many personal stories about the places we visited, and his love for the Faroe Islands really shone through. The north – wow – We were greeted with spectacular views and so much history. Thoroughly recommend the tour! Despite a gloomy start in Torshavn, we were lucky with some sunny weather when we got to the northern islands, although I know Jens would have made the trip special even in the rain.
