A day that captures all the drama of the landscape, the character of traditional villages and life with the sheep, especially during lambing season - and worth any weather challenges, but make sure you come prepared. .

We highly recommend booking this tour through Hogni at Guide to Faroe Islands. We initially expressed interest in 2025, but deferred our trip until May 2026. Hogni answered all our questions beforehand. The liberal cancellation policy gave us reassurance to book early, and thankfully we did not need it.
We were very happy we visited in May, before the busier summer tourist season. The weather was comfortable, and we encoutered less rain than expected. We are glad we brought good hiking shoes.
Our guide, Johan, was terrific. He drove us to many places inaccessible to larger tour groups, and allowed us senior travelers to explore at our own pace. He patiently responded to all of our questions about the islands' history and culture. The lunches and beverages provided each day on the road were beyond our expectations. By the end of our visit, we felt like a member of his family. Johan is the best ambassador the Faroe Islands could ever ask for.
Our hotel, the Hafnia, was comfortable. One recommendation is to make dinner reservations well in advance. We found that tables at the best restaurants were fully booked several days out.
The 8 Day Tour Package is very comprehensive, but the warmth of our experience has left us with a desire to return at some point in the future.

Nice tour, however the tour was postponed by 5 hours, 30 minutes prior to departure. Respect for nature you need to have and if the weather is unsafe, it is very OK to move. However this should have been communicated earlier than 30 minutes prior to departure.
Luckily, we had other plans in the area, and we just swapped around on the planned sequence order.
When the tour took place it was cut short and we were never close to Gasadalur nor the Mularfossur. At the time I thought I may remembered wrongly how the tour should be. Nothing was said by the crew. This is a disappointment as the Mularfossur from seaside was one looked forward to.
We neither did go through the arch, but we had a very nice view. The dropping of the sail through was expected as I have understood that the chance of going through the arch is about 50%, maybe less.

Great tour! Knowledgeable about the local area and took us to get fantastic food. Visited restaurants I had no idea about and ones I wanted to visit previously but didn't have time, so definitely worth it!

I visited the Faroes for the first time in May 2026 and hired Ditte as my guide for 5 days. I can wholeheartedly recommend Ditte as a knowledgeable and experienced guide who will vastly improve the quality of your visit. She knows all the islands well (she’s a native) and has a lot of experience as a guide. Ditte provides transportation with her own car, so it saves you the trouble of renting a vehicle. She’s knowledgeable about scenic routes and viewpoints for some stunning photographs, and is always willing to stop for a photo opportunity. Your time visiting any new place is valuable and using an experienced guide like Ditte will help you get the most out of it.

Her knowledge of the weather patterns in the islands paid off handsomely. There’s rarely going to be a time when you’re guaranteed any consistent weather that’s going to last longer than a couple of hours. We adjusted our itinerary day by day based on weather conditions and got the maximum out of each day, with glorious vistas and landscapes, sometimes just before a front bearing rain or snow passed through. We made some location decisions on the fly based on her sense about changes in the weather.

Ditte was excellent in providing a history of the islands and the people, because it’s important to remember that the Faroes are more than just amazing scenery. She knows quite a few people around the islands and can explain the subtle differences between the dialects and customs. By the end of my trip, I learned a lot about the Faroese people and came away with a tremendous amount of respect for them. You can tell how you feel about a place if you want to return, and I definitely feel that way about the Faroes.

I had a very enjoyable day, our guide Anita was lovely, chatting all day. It was a very windy day and Anita gave us the confidence to hike to the view points to be able to take the important photos! Lunch was very tasty

I booked and paid for an airport transfer. I was picked up by a tour group at the end of their tour and taken with them to their last tour site before being taken to town and my hotel. My fee was not adjusted to the price for group transport.

Huge thanks to Arousiak for the most incredible day! She took us to some breathtaking spots on the southern island that felt like they were straight out of a movie. Arousiak really made our day in the south. What really touched us was when my shoes broke during the hike—she didn’t hesitate for a second and took us back to her father-in-law’s house just to help me fix them. It was such a kind, selfless gesture that completely saved my trip. On top of that, her homemade salmon sandwich was very yummy. If you want a local experience that feels real and warm, you have to find her!

It was soooo amazing!

----------------------
A completely mad adventure… and honestly unforgettable!

First of all, the first hurdle: realising that I hadn’t actually booked the ferry… even though I was convinced I had ^^
A quick tip: the meeting point is right at the far end of the car park, and not at all near the ferry (which, paradoxically, is very well signposted 😅).

Next, top-of-the-range survival gear: a nice and warm wetsuit (thank goodness!) + a life jacket. And then you quickly realise why…

The Zodiac crossing takes between 30 and 50 minutes, depending on the ocean’s mood. And when the Atlantic decides to give the boat a bit of a shake… it doesn’t hold back 😅 It slams, it bounces, it splashes, and sometimes it even almost lifts you off your seats!

The crew were absolutely brilliant: clear explanations, great humour, and a reassuring atmosphere throughout.

Arriving on the island also deserves an Olympic medal: managing to get out of the zodiac and then climb up a huge concrete jetty about 1.5 metres high… with the waves as a bonus ^^
But the crew help out enormously, even going so far as to hoist us up like beached seals 😂

On the island, our guide was truly fascinating and very kind. He answered all our questions in perfect English and told us about local traditions, sheep, farming, birds… all whilst gently calling to order certain tourists who were being a bit too disrespectful of this incredible place.

Just so you know: this is NOT a gentle, leisurely trip.
The zodiac bobs about a lot, slams into the waves, and you could end up thoroughly soaked.
You absolutely must bring:

a hat
a neck warmer
gloves

Otherwise, you’ll find out just how cold the North Atlantic can be… right down to your bones 🥶

And if you’re taking a camera, phone or GoPro: attach them to yourself with a wrist strap or a cable. Seriously. The ocean loves to snatch up expensive gadgets 😅

Seeing the cliffs up close and admiring Drangarnir from the sea was absolutely magical.
A spectacular, raw, wet, windy… and totally unforgettable experience.

Yes, the price might seem high. But honestly, you’re not just paying for a tour: you’re paying for an extraordinary experience.

And don’t forget to book the Mykines hike: a guide is compulsory, and that’s a very good thing for preserving the peace and quiet of the animals and the place.

A huge thank you to the whole team ❤️
It was soooo amazing!

My 14-year old son and I had the great pleasure of joining Niklas on his boat for an evening fishing adventure last week. Apart from being a very nice captain, Niklas puts safety first, knows his fishing waters, and shares valuable information about the islands. The fishing itself exceeded our expectations and we caught multiple fish ranging from 2-5 kilos (mainly cod) from depths of 50-90 meters. There were not many active fishing minutes without one or more fish on the hooks😀
Thanks You Niklas and hope to see you again!!

The island of Mykines was beautiful and we enjoyed the hike. Sadly, the day we went was too windy and so we saw no puffins on the island at all. Luckily, On our departure the crew tried to make it up to us by looking for puffins and even found some seals which was cool.
I do think they should write on the booking that the hiking fee for Mykines 400 DKK/500 DKK, which we didn’t know in advance.

I really enjoyed my day with Elsa Marie.

She did a great job presenting a most interesting one-day itinerary for the Faroe Islands.
I found her narratives about the various locations to be very informative. She delivered what she promised.
