Leynavatn is a beautiful lake on Streymoy Island in the untouched Faroe Islands. The lake is easy to reach by car and going for a walk around the lake will let you enjoy nature first hand.

You will find Lake Leynavatn next to the road when heading out from the Vágatunnilin sub-sea tunnel from Vágar Island to Streymoy island. Home to salmon and trout, this is one of the best location for sports fishing in the Faroe Islands.

Former Restaurant KOKS Location

The restaurant reached two Michelin stars when located here and was acclaimed word wide for its food perfection. Everything locally produced and sources from nearby farmers on land and at sea. Food as art and with tastes like nowhere else. KOKS closed its doors in the Faroe Islands in 2021.

An evening at KOKS started in a small turfed cabin next to the lake. Here guests were served a food appetiser as well as some crispy fish snack. The journey then continued in a Land Rover along the lake to an old wooden house surrounded by the grassy interior.

The Michelin restaurant KOKS had its base beside the lake in quiet surroundings. You will find the sod-roofed buildings where the restaurant was located in the quaint valley at the end of Lake Leynavatn. This lake is easily one of the most beautiful lakes in the Faroe Islands.

Going for a walk to the area where KOKS was located is a great activity. Bring a packed lunch and enjoy it in the surroundings where the restaurant served the best produce in the archipelago.
