Welcome to Faroe Islands

I would include this as a must-do in the Faroe Island, even though our travel schedule put us outside prime birding season. There is just no other way to see this iconic scenery, and it shouldn't be missed.

The weather looked iffy, but they put us at ease with good, timely communication about what might happen if the seas were too rough. We were able to complete they planned tour, and we always felt safe because of their caution.

Every person we were in contact with was friendly and gracious. The captain took time to chat with us, and we didn't feel like we were imposing at all. The person who processed our ticket and served us some coffee was especially delightful.

Truly a highlight of our visit.

In August 2026, my husband and I took the “Elsa” Bus Tour of the Faroe Islands. Elsa made the experience truly memorable. She made everyone in the group feel comfortable, welcome and connected throughout the tour. Her explanations of the Island’s history were informative and engaging. We learned so much about the culture and way of life in the Faroe Islands.

I enjoyed her style, professionalism and genuine care for everyone on the tour.

Simply wow scenery. Fantastic tour (on a sunny day) with an excellent guide (Jasper, from DK but passionate and well versed about his adoptive country FO). Discrete, thoughtful for diversity of the team members, well organized, timely.
Local minibus taking you on an almost private tour, patient and colourful local driver (Magnus).
Very practical as including all costs and a great alternative to having to get a car place on the ferry (very hard to find if you want last minute time flexibility in function of the weather conditions ), to drive on small roads and to park. Also, excellent service and responsiveness from company. Will go again !

Our guide, Elsa, was energetic, highly dependable, and absolutely wonderful.
I joined this tour alone, and there were seven of us in total.
Since I was traveling solo and not confident in my driving, I didn't rent a car, so it was super convenient to cover the highlights of the Faroe Islands all at once. The lunch at the cafe we stopped at was also delicious, making it a wonderful memory.

It was so convenient because it included the ferry, transportation on Kalsoy, and the hike.
If round-trip transport from Tórshavn could be added as an option, it would be perfect.

I enjoyed a 10-person tour with Elsa Maria. Though the group was a bit larger than promised in the description, it was a well-planned tour that exceeded expectations. We received about 9 hours of sightseeing in all across 3 islands, and she made stops beyond the promised sites for good views. She provided invaluable local expertise and insights on Faroese history and culture.

This was magic! Susanna is delightful, friendly, helpful and so generous with her time, and such a wonderful calm person to spend time with. I picked up some very useful tips on knitting and listened with great interest to Susanna's stories and her personal history. She is a remarkable and wonderful person, and makes delicious crumble!

Faroe Islands views are indeed jaw dropping and I got to see so many fantastic sites within several hours without having to drive and navigate. The only downside is the expensive price, but then, everything is expensive in the Faroe Islands. Highly recommend this tour

I highly recommend this tour with Jens! Doing this at the beginning of your stay provides not only a quick understanding of the history and culture of the Faroe Islands but also a great list of next steps--which museum to come back to, which local pub to try, etc. Jens has all the facts and figures on the tip of his tongue, so you leave feeling very informed and up to date on everything from current government to which movie to see. You will not regret this 90 minutes of quality time with Jens!

The night tour turns out to be the highlight of the whole Faroe tour. It’s always difficult to predict the weather in Faroe, but we r luck enough to catch the only sunny hour on a rainy day. The cordial guide shows great hospitality, introducing the history and culture of the town, patiently satisfying the requirements of taking photos. After the hike, the tour ends with an amazing local meals meticulously prepared by the guide’s wife. U cannot miss it!

I absolutely recommend this experience. You are invited to a home of locals and you are served the food you can taste nowhere else. Everything was fresh and delicious, the nice chat is included :)
