God oplevelse. Fik god instruktion så selv om vejrforholdene drillede, fik vi nogle gode ture. Vi kunne godt være blevet ved nogle timer mere. Tak til de gode, smilende og dygtige instruktører.

My husband I are slow travellers, we use public transport and taxis to move from A to B. To get an overview of the highlights of the Faroer, we booked this trip, a little bit reluctantly.

We had a wonderful day. Our trip leader Elsa Maria was a teacher before she became a guide. This was of great advantage. Instead of ackwardly sitting in a small bus with 10 strangers, we became a group and we felt comfortable and chatted with each other as if we were a school class.

But the trip was not meant for socialising, but to see and learn something of the Faroer. This we did. Elsa Maria is a very skilled driver, she told us a lot about the Faroer and how it has changed over the last 50 years. She also told us about the traditions that are cherished by the Faroers.

For lunch she brought us to a lovely restaurant (price notbincluded in the trip), we could order from the menu about 1/2 hour before we got to the restaurant, therefore we didn't have to waste time waiting for the food.

We could just enjoy, Elsa Maria was taking care of the planning, the driving and pur safety.

We had a lovely day and would recommend this trip Elsa Maria and her brother to everyone.

Classic Faroe Islands Day Tour

This private tour is top notch! Annika is a Faroese native who is well traveled and well versed in all things Faroese. She has deep roots in the Islands and was a font of information about the history, culture and life on the Islands. She is a delight!

We toured mostly as described in the itinerary and were able to adjust the day according to our interests, including making frequent stops for sights as we desired. We saw waterfalls, undersea tunnels, mountains, fjords, beaches, vistas, cliffs, drying whale meat, traditional houses, churches and ruins and were regaled with stories about family roots, growing up on the Islands and raising children there.

If you want to spend a day exploring with a knowledgeable and personable professional who can show you some of the wonders of the Faroe Islands and highlights of island life, this is the tour to choose.

Cheers to Annika, and our best wishes for the future. Bette and Hank

Tak!

Leaving the Faroe Islands at the end of the tour and arriving back in mainland Europe, made me realise just how quiet and peaceful a destination it is. And so green!! It is no longer an undiscovered destination, not crowded, but pretty busy in places (all relatively speaking of course).
On the whole I was really satisfied with the tour, the 8 day one. A group of 4 people for the tours, so the minibus was never full or uncomfortable.
Arrival and pick up at the airport went smoothly, a really chatty and informative taxi driver, plus one other passenger.
Hilton hotel was great, a room with a view! Enjoyed the breakfast buffet every day, friendly and efficient staff.
I enjoyed the tours with Johan, and on some days his father, and it was interesting to learn about the Islands themselves, a place that a lot of people are unfamiliar with. The tours covered just about everywhere worth seeing; the weather plays a massive part, not so much the rain, there wasn’t that much, but the fog and mist obscuring the views.
I think this is a destination that is going to grow in popularity, and there will be changes because of this, some positive, some not so. It is an expensive option, but worth it!

Amazing tour! You are able to see everything in one day and don’t feel rushed. Jens and his family have been in the Faroe Islands for centuries so he knew everything about the islands and was very informative. Would recommend this tour to anyone interested in visiting the Faroe Islands.

It was a beautifull and very good boattour. On the way back we were sailing along the north shore of Mykines with on the ridges many gannet nests. And along several other points of interest. Everything well explained.

Most amazing thing I’ve ever done. The view at the end of the lake is 10/10. Booked without a guide but got key advice from a very kind gentleman at the pick up spot! Service also totally perfect.

It was such a great itinerary. We were able to be flexible with what was recommended based on the changing weather, which allowed us to see everything we wanted to.
The Hilton Hotel was perfect, the car hire was great (had a Nissan Duke).
Doing the self guided tour also meant we could pull over when we saw something else that was of interest to us, and still had time to explore some extra villages.
We even saw puffins on our boat tour, even though it wasn't part of the plan.

Amazing hike - off the beaten track, surrounded by the amazing faroese landscape. Our guide was friendly, experienced and completely at home in the mountains. Secluded, dramatic, and challenging, the route takes you up the mountains and across a rocky ridgeline, which for me was the absolute highlight of the trip, with views of the fjords, islands and mountains to all sides. Definitely recommend going on this hike to experience the mountains in the best possible way

Day 1 (31st May) - Flight arrived on time, but luggage was delayed for 1.5hrs. Thankfully, there was Wi-Fi at the airport for us to inform via email as roaming for my phone was not working.
And luckily the Taxi Driver was still waiting for us. As we board the Taxi, he mentioned he thought we were not coming anymore. He did try to go the mountain route for us however the whole day was foggy, so we can't really see anything. We arrived at Hilton Hotel (we did the 4stars hotel top-up, basically breakfast for the next few days were the same)

Day 2 (Vagar Island Hike) - Our Guide for Day 2 was Johan, the hike was great there was some muddy area, steep ascent towards the end for a view of the cliff. Do prepare proper hiking equipment before joining this hike . One person from our tour group decided to go back to the starting point early. Lunch was at some gas station. The bagels were great.

Day 3 (The Northern Isles) - Our Guide for Day 3 was Johan's Dad, As he was going for medical appointment. He drove us around and we managed to stop by some random cute farm at the cliff side and we had lunch at a local restaurant (Amarant). Food was quite good.

Day 4 (Vestmanna Sea Cliffs) - Our Guide for Day 4 was Johan's Dad. Basically, he just drove us to the boat pickup point and didn't join us on the boat trip. And after the boat trip, he picked us up and drove us to some viewing points and back to hotel. Apparently, there was some misunderstanding and no lunch catered today (Disaster), but we requested to be dropped off at SMS for lunch, his dad did drop us off there.

The website description: "After the tour, you will be served your packed lunch and then head up to the mountain region above Vestmanna, which is the widest unpopulated area in the Faroe Islands. On your way back to Tórshavn, you will do a short stop in the viking village Kvívík." and email earlier mentioned there was lunch provided on all days.

But when i emailed to check, he mentioned this "There should be a lunch included an all days except the Sea cliff tour, sorry if I have said something else. That’s a short day. Did you get cake, coffee or something?"

So there was discrepancy is their tour, he asked how would i like to be compensated. I requested for dinner on the next day as it was a long day tour (12 hours). However, he replied saying we will get 2 course lunch the next day. (Personally, i wouldn't even want to have 2 course lunch, and it didn't happened).

Day 5 (Suðuroy Island) - Our guide for Day 5 was Johan. This consist of a long ferry ride to this island. The island was great but weather wasn't on our side. It was definitely one of the most windy days. The lunch was at some local caterer, Sausage soup (Quite salty) + bread.

Day 6 ( Streymoy Island & Eysturoy Island) - Our guide for Day 6 was Johan's Dad. Weather was ok today. Personally, there wasn't many highlights to these islands, i would personally skipped them if i knew, and i can see his dad trying to delay at every stop he could. i.e. Saksun (basically a very small town with a church being closed due to tourism and a paid farm which we didn't go in as it is not part of the tour)
Tjørnuvík was ok, there was a short walk towards the end of the town for you to view the "witch and the giant rocks"
When we arrived at Gjógv, the weather wasn't on our side and there was another tour group doing sports stuff. Nothing much to see here really. Thereafter, he drove us to another spot where we can see the "witch and giant rocks" via a binocular and we are back to the hotel. We requested to be dropped off at SMS to do some shopping. As there was a "cultural day" which most of the town were filled with people.

Day 7 (Mykines Island) - Our Guide for today was Johan. His mum's was driving us as he was out until 3am for Cultural Day. However, the weather was bad that day and our trip to this islands was basically cancelled due to last minute ferry cancellation which he did try to book a later timing at 130pm. They proposed us to go to the National Museum while waiting at 8+am but the place was only open at 10am. So they dropped us off at Hilton Hotel and told us the next pick up was at 12pm. We decided to go over to the National Museum via (free local bus) and requested them to pick us at the Museum. The tickets were around 90DKK per person. We did managed to spent 2hrs at the Museum.
When we were picked up at 12pm. The trip to Mykines was cancelled last minute again. So our guide Johan offered to refund or bring us to Plan C (Nólsoy) to see puffins as Plan B (trips were also not available due to weather). We did decided to go ahead with Plan C (Nólsoy), we arrived at the harbour just before the ferry to Nólsoy left. (it was a 20mins ferry ride) A very small town, but we did enjoyed the hike and the lunch at OVASAVNIÐ (a local history museum - a little late around 3pm), though we didn't get to see any puffins. He also brought along local fermented lamb for us to try.
Our guide felt bad for the trip and he treated us to dinner at a local place (Moss Restaurant) The salmon burgers were amazing. And his sister came to pick us back to the hotel.

Overall, i would say we did enjoy the trip but definitely disappointed. As i would personally recommend to do self driving instead as you get more flexibility, however you will missed all the explanation and local hiking spots.

Would recommend the team to look at how they plan their trips if Mykines was supposed to be "highlights". i would think they should swapped it in between the days at least there is some days to fallback to. In the end we didn't even get to see the "highlights".
The restaurants recommended were always fully booked. So we also didn't get to try them. Sadly.

Elsa Maria is an incredible tour guide who will certainly provide you with a day full of adventure, excitement, and laughter. From her knowledge of Faroese lands, people, and culture, to her ability to fit as much sight-seeing as possible in the tour time, you will end your day with stories, a smile, and a full camera roll. My little group only had one day to explore the islands, and it was a tough choice on how best to spend our limited time in a place where the options are limitless. I am deeply grateful for our decision to take a day tour with Elsa Maria. If you are wanting to get the most out of your time on the islands, do yourselves a favor and book the “See it All” tour!

Just wanted to thank Elsa Marie for an amazing tour of the islands on Sunday 24th of May. I have done similar tours in many places around the world and my day touring the Faroe Islands with Elsa Marie was by far the best tour I have ever done.

Of course, the Faroe Islands are spectacular and we were blessed with beautiful sunny weather but what made it special was having Elsa Marie as our guide. She is knowledgeable, w a great communicator but most of all fun - just wonderful!

All best wishes

We had a lovely day with our guide Anita. The hike to the bridge Rituskor wasn’t easy, but was really cool to do! I felt very safe in the car and we had a really nice lunch at café Mormor. We saw really nice highlights on this island and stopped at a lot of places.
