The Faroe Islands were spectacular on their own, but our guide, Sveinur made our experience even more memorable. It didn't hurt that we had spectacular weather all but one of days in the Faroes. Who says, it's never sunny there? We hike Traelanipa ("Slave Cliff") on our first days on the Gasadalur Postal Route on day 2. The postal route was a steep climb and descent that included a stop at Mulafossur Waterfall outside the village. Gasadalur had a small lunch restaurant, which doubles as a slaughter house when tourism is slow. We had lunch on deck in glorious sunshine at 15C (about 62F) watching the tidal current off Mykines Island. Our 3rd day of hiking was altered by clouds so we hiked from a farm on the outskirts of Torshavn to Kirkjubour and its church from the 12th century. We also hiked above Klasvik and finished with a 15k hike from Tjornuvik up to Mt. Myllingur.

The hiking was great but we also thoroughly enjoyed Sveinur's thoughts on the Faroes whether it was political intrigue, whaling or Denmark. Sveinur showed us some great restaurants at out of the way places for soup, fish & chips, etc. and even took us sheepskin shopping.

Thank you for the great hospitality we enjoyed throughout our stay in the Faroes.

It was a wonderful experienced. Once in a lifetime. Everything from the provided schedule, the back and forth emails on details of the tour, service from the rent a car and hotel were all superior service. Thank you!

Our guide Jens was the ultimate professional with a great mixture of historical facts and current affairs. He was always impartial on anything political and gave a good balanced view on life in Torshavn and The Faroes. We were never rushed and he engaged in enjoyable and open discussion.
I would recommend this activity as a great way to experience Torshavn and explore the local point of view.

A really good opportunity to experience Torshavn through the eyes of a local guide and their obvious enthusiasm for local restaurants a nd food businesses. Thanks for an interesting insight.

Amazing tour with Elsa Maria!! Maria is a wonderful guide. She was very energetic and kept us engaged throughout the tour with interesting stories about Faroe Islands. She took us to an amazing place for lunch and also treated us with some Nordic specialities. Would highly recommend this tour! Thank you so much Elsa!❤️

Great tour. Enjoyed it. But the guide wasn’t understandable most of the tour. In the beginning he was talking through the microfone. Later on he was the most of the time outside on the upper deck. Talking to little groups. We were sitting inside. But when you ask him something he gives you good answers.

This was a stunning boattour! We enjoy the ride a lot. Because of the weather we couldn't see the Múlafossur (we saw it that morning from the land) but hey, safety first!
Our guide Elias xxxxx (🤣) was knowledgeable, a great storyteller, funny and very friendly!

Lovely tour and spectacular views, plenty of photo opportunities. Good bikes and I was glad to have an e-bike despite initial doubts - the climb out of Tórshavn is quite long. Great guiding from a native Faroese cycling/hiking instructor who answered any questions about life in the Faroe islands. Happy to recommend this tour!

I definitely recommend this tour! We received a keepsake glass and sampled several different OY beers while walking around Tórshavn and learning about the town and Faroese history. All of the beers were great. Afterward, we toured the brewery and learned more about how the beers are made and canned. We also had the opportunity to order food from the brewery, which was excellent and made the experience even better.

Do NOT miss this tour! This was by far our favorite experience in the Faroe Islands, and we did at least five other tours during our trip. Our guide, Jógvan, was amazing. He met us in Klaksvík by the ferry and sailed over with us. Once we arrived in Kalsoy, his car was waiting, and he drove us to all the must-see spots on the island.
Jógvan walks at your pace and is happy to stop whenever you need to rest or take photos. We were able to see the lighthouse, James Bond’s memorial, and The Seal Woman. He was incredibly knowledgeable and knew exactly where to find the most unforgettable views and photo spots.

Since this was an evening tour, we were able to enjoy the beauty of Kalsoy with very few other tourists around. There were no issues with daylight, as the sun stays up past 2300 (11 pm) during the summer months. We were also very lucky to have beautiful weather.

To end the tour, Jógvan took us to his beautiful home for Faroese samples, and his wife is a phenomenal cook! I also highly recommend adding the cheese and wine pairing. Seriously, it included some of the best cheese we have ever had. This was such a special and memorable experience.

This is an update to my one-star review below. The morning following our canceled boat trip, I received a call from the CEO of Guide To Faroe Islands. He was most apologetic, and bent over backwards to make it right for us. It happened that Vestmanna canceled the trip without notifying him, so he could not notify us. But nonetheless, since we had purchased the tickets from him he accepted full responsibility and worked hard to apologize, even to the extent of coming out to Elduvik to visit us in person. Therefore, I give his company high marks for service recovery and feel I can fully recommend Guide to Faroes Islands with this 5-star review. So my review is basically opposite of the first one, with top marks going to Hogni and Guide To Faroes Islands. We rebooked the trip for a week later.

What an outstanding introduction to both Torshavn and the Faroes. Jens covered the history, the politics, as well as the social and cultural currents both in the past and up to today. I encourage anyone with an interest in learning about the Faroe Islands to definitely take this tour. It is a must see, and we are so appreciative to the 90 minutes we spent with Jens. I wish we had time for a follow up tour with him.

Absolut empfehlenswert!
