Ljósá is a peaceful settlement in the unbelievable Faroe Islands. Located along the coast on Eysturoy Islands, Ljósá is easy to reach when exploring the archipelago.

There are only 15 houses in the settlement. Visit this place for its relaxed settings and great seaside views.

Make sure to swing by the local Rose’s Café if you want a light meal or some beverage. Enjoy freshly made local fish or some of the other tasty courses on the menu. The windows in the café offers tranquil views of the strait and the mountains on Streymoy Island.

While here make sure to have a look at a quintessential house in the Faroe Islands, the small yellow painted house near the parking lot. It is nestled close to the seaside and encapsulates how the islanders have lived in even the smallest places and still do.

The strait separating the two largest and most populous islands in the archipelago, Streymoy Island and Eysturoy Island. The settlement Ljósá is nestled next to the shoreline on Eysturoy Island.

There are two settlements in sight from this small settlement. On the same island further north, you will see parts of the village Eiði. Taking a look to the nearby Streymoy Islands, you will see the settlement Haldórsvík.

The strait between Eysturoy Island and Streymoy Island comes with the name Sundini. Ljósá is located along the coast with ocean views.

When getting to this location from nearby Streymoy Island, you will drive the short bridge connecting Eysturoy Island to Streymoy Island. Once on Eysturoy Island, you will head north for only a short ride before you get to Ljósá.

A tarred road leads down the hillside to the houses in Ljósá. You will get the best parking options at the small marina made out of local basalt rocks.
