Haldórsvík Travel Guide
Haldórsvík is a coastal village on Streymoy Island in the wild Faroe Islands. The settlement is known for its hexagonal shaped church next to the village’s stream.
All houses here overlook the Sundini strait which divides Streymoy Island from the nearby Eysturoy Island. People in the village enjoy a undisturbed view of the highest mountain in the archipelago, Slættaratindur. The mountain’s summit rises 880 meters (2887 feet) out of the sea.
Most often Faroe Islanders use the short form Vík when talking about Haldórsvík. Vík is the local word for ‘islet‘.
The famous Fossá Waterfall makes its eternal spray only a couple of minutes from the village. It takes 50 minutes to drive to the village from Tórshavn.
You will drive through Haldórsvík on your way to Tjørnuvík. Make sure to stop in Haldórsvík for views of the iconic church.
