Strendur is the largest village on the western shore of the Skálafjørður Fjord on Eysturoy Island in the far-flung Faroe Islands. The settlement is connected to nearby main hubs Runavík and Tórshavn through the longest tunnel in the Faroe Islands, the underwater tunnel Eysturoyartunnilin.

Eysturoyartunnilin includes an underwater roundabout, which is the first one of its kind in the world. Thanks to the underwater tunnel under Tangafjørður Fjord, urban amenities are only 15 minutes away from Strendur.

Driving through the tunnels in the Faroe Islands is a tourist attraction in itself. The Eysturoyartunnilin tunnel is no exception with the architectural wonder that you will see under the seabed. With its entrance conveniently located along Strendur’s seaside, the tunnel has dramatically shortened travel times to key destinations.
