Viðoy Travel Guide
Viðoy is the most northern island in the Faroe Islands. The island is home to the much-visited village Viðareiði where you will also experience mountain Villingadalsfjall.
Villingardalsfjall is the highest mountain on the island. The mountain peaks at 841 meters making it among the highest mountains in the archipelago.
It requires a great effort to hike up the steep hillside from the village Viðareiði to the Villingardalsfjall summit. Expect to hike for two hours in order to reach the top.
The church in Viðareiði is much appreciated for its epic location next to the craggy coastline. Viðoy is connected to its neighbouring island Borðoy by an embarkment.
Another great attraction on the island is Cape Enniberg. This is a 754 metre vertical sea cliff which makes it the world’s tallest vertical sea cliff.
The best way to reach Cape Enniberg is to hike all the way up to Villingadalsfjall. From here you can then hike further to the impressive sheer wall.
