While many hikes in the Faroe Islands are quite challenging, there are also good number of hikes perfect for families. Here are three hikes that will work for parents and children at all ages, even toddlers.

Lake Leitisvatn is known for its jaw-dropping look when seen from the cliff Trælanípa. The sheer cliff might seem scary but you are all safe and the hike to the place will for most people be more like a walk rather than a hike. It takes an hour to get to the famous spot form the village Miðvágur located very near Vágar Airport.

Kirkjubøur

A favourite among kindergartens in the capital is to hike from the valley Havnardalur in Tórshavn to the historic settlement Kirkjubøur. It will take you 3-4 hours with kids to complete the route marked by wooden poles and ancient cairns. You will get to some peaceful lakes along the route and be completely away from everything, yet fairly close to the capital. When you get to Kirkjubøur, you can do as kindergartens often do, take the bus back to the capital. There is a public toilet in Kirkjubøur and a lot of sod-roofed houses to see and more.

Klakkur is an unbelievable vantage point on Borðoy Island. This attraction is situated high above Klaksvík, the main hub in the northern part of the archipelago. It takes you less than an hour of hiking to reach the best views. Klakkur is located on top of a mountain ridge and the locals love a tour to the top for epic sunsets and a great deal of fresh air.
