Runavík is the largest settlement on Eysturoy Island. This seaside town is nestled along the Skálafjørður fjord. Surrounded by several mountains, this is a Beautiful fjord and also the deepest in the Faroe Islands.

Passengers arriving with cruise ships to Runavík have a variety of day tours available when visiting the island group. Runavík lies on the eastern side of the Skálafjørður fjord. The underwater tunnel Eysturoyartunnilin connects Runavík to Strendur on the western side of the fjord and to the capital Tórshavn on Streymoy Island.

Thanks to the sub-sea tunnel and a great road network, you have have a lot of essential nature attractions available within an hours drive from the main settlement on Eysturoy Island. The lovely village Funningur located at the foot of the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur, is less than a 30 minutes drive from this hub on Eysturoy Island.

Add another 10 minutes of driving and you are in the amazing settlement Gjógv known for its impressive sea gorge. You might even spot some puffins here from May until late August.

Torfinnur Jákupsson is a renowned filmmaker and screenwriter from the Faroe Islands. Born and raised in the Faroe Islands, Jákupsson has contributed to bring the culture and landscapes of this North Atlantic archipelago to a broader audience. His most notable work is Trom, a Faroese crime drama series that premiered in 2022. Trom was the first major TV series filmed entirely in the Faroe Islands. Based on local crime novels, the series follows a journalist as he investigates a murder and uncovers environmental and political tensions within the community. Jákupsson's compelling storytelling, combined with the stark beauty of the Faroese landscape, earned Trom international acclaim. The series has been broadcasted on BBC in the UK and SBS in Australia among others. Jákupsson explore themes of isolation, identity, and the interaction between traditional and modern Faroese life, resonating with both local and global audiences. He holds a master's degree from University of Westminster in Audio Production.
