Neverland is a place on earth. The Faroe Islands is where the live-action reimagining of the 1953 animated classic was filmed in 2020.
Peter Pan is back on the screen. Directed by David Lowery and produced by Jim Whitaker, the mountainous archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean is featured prominently in the movie.
The film’s trailer was the first to reveal that the Faroe Islands are used as the main filming location for nature shots in the Disney movie. The grand sceneries in Peter Pan & Wendy feature rugged mountains, sheer cliffs, and lush green slopes all filmed in the fairly unknown island group.

Tindhólmur Islet in the Faroe Islands as Peter Pan Location
Scenes in the Faroe Islands were the first to be filmed for the new movie. This was amid Covid-19 in August 2020. The pandemic affected productions all over the world. Nevertheless, the Covid-19 guidelines in Faroe Islands allowed travellers to visit.
Director David Lowery stayed in the seaside village Sørvágur on Vágar Island together with a small production team from Disney and some locals. They were there for 10 days planning and filming beautiful parts of the Faroe Islands. The local film director Gudmund Helmsdal was production assistant and part of the Peter Pan & Wendy filming crew when in the Faroe Islands.
One location and brilliantly featured in the movie is the visual impressive Tindhólmur Islet. The filming crew had access to the uninhabited attraction when filming in the Faroe Islands.
Trælanípa
Jolly Roger is floating above the sea in the scene with Trælanípa. And floating above the sea is just what you get to experience when visiting this attraction.
Travellers go to the Trælanípa Cliff for its optical illusion besides impressive coastal views. When you stand on this cliff, you will see Lake Leitisvatn as if it floats above the ocean.
This attraction comes with beautiful views. Jolly Roger sails next to this cliff when it is sprinkled with fairy dust by Tinker Bell.

Risin & Kellingin
Off the coast of Eysturoy Island lie two sea stacks. These rock formations are named Risin & Kellingin. These impressive rock formations translate directly to “The Giant & the Witch”.
When watching the movie, you will see Jolly Roger sailing next to the sea stacks. It takes only 10 minutes to sail to this attraction from the village Eiði.
Mykines Island
Mykines Island is known for its huge puffin colony as well as its unspoiled nature. The island is seen in the movie with Peter Pan and friends flying towards it.
You will get this view of Mykines Island when standing in the small Gásadalur settlement. In addition to the remote village, this is where the famous Múlafossur Waterfall is located.
