Tórshavn Bus Terminal

The Tórshavn Bus Terminal is the main bus hub in the Faroe Islands situated at the harbour in Tórshavn. The national bus and ferry service, Strandfaraskip Landsins, operate a well-run bus service that runs between Tórshavn and the towns and villages.

If you want to take a bus out of town, Tórshavn Bus Terminal is the place to go. Same goes for busses coming in to Tórshavn from other islands. All island busses terminates at the Tórshavn Bus Terminal. Here are some of the main bus routes to/from Tórshavn.

• Vestmanna – Tórshavn (Bus route 100)
• Vágar Airport – Tórshavn (Bus route 300)
• Klaksvík – Tórshavn (Bus route 400)

Look for the blue buses (The Tórshavn City buses are red). It is easy as a pie to get to the different corners of the Faroe Islands from Farstøðin as the bus terminal is known by the Faroe Islanders.

Strandfaraskip Landsins offers 4-day and 7-day Travel Passes. These passes allow you to travel on all buses and ferries (Mykines not included) throughout the Faroe Islands.

Most guided day tours start from Tórshavn. All these tours have the bus terminal as one of their pick-up locations.

Bus Terminal Services

At the bus terminal, you can buy snacks and drinks for the journey. There is also an information desk where you can get advice on what bus route to take to get you where you are going.

The passenger ferry to the Faroe Islands M/S Norröna enters the port of Tórshavn. Travellers will step into the bus terminal when they step out of the ferry.

If you take a public bus from Vágar Airport (FAE) to Tórshavn, the bus will terminate at the harbour in Tórshavn at Farstøðin. The bus terminal is a 5 minutes walk from the main square Vaglið in the capital, Tórshavn.

The old grass-roofed government buildings Tinganes in the oldest district in the city. It also lies a 5 minutes walk from the Tórshavn bus terminal. Just beside the bus terminal, you will find the Skansin Fortress and the lighthouse there.
